We stayed here over a weekend due to the proximity to who we were visiting. The hotel lobby was nice when we entered and the location was great. The hallway's (we were on the 5th floor) were VERY narrow (hard for 2 people to pass) and the rooms small (as most hotels are in NYC). The decor is tired and...

A small hotel, off the beaten track, in Greenwich Village.A very nice experience. Charming place, modest but adequate rooms, very reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff, nice continental breakfast (free). Excellent restaurant. A few housekeeping glitches: hair pin in room carpet (lack of vacuuming?), dirt encrusted TV remote, torn bathrobe, lack of slippers (supplied in other rooms).

This hotel is around the corner from NYU in the heart of Greenwich Village. Luxurious it is not but we've stayed here several times and like it each time. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, the rooms are either cozy (i.e., small) or comfortable (i.e., bigger) but all are clean and well equipped. The free continental breakfast...

We needed to be near NYU for one night, and the reviews for this hotel were good. For the purpose, its location could not be better, as it is at one corner of Washington Square Park. My wife had to be at an early session of a conference, and the hotel was very accommodating; there was a room available(414), and...

We were looking for a hotel near the area of NYU and we found this hotel for a very nice price and apparently with great accommodations based on the pictures and the reviews. We arrived, and to our dismay the rooms were quite small and not at all what we had seen. The rugs were disgusting, to the point that...

This hotel has a great location. Rooms and hallways were small, but that's to be expected. The staff was exceptionally nice and friendly. The free breakfast was above average, including waiter service rather than a buffet.

Was very happy with the hotel, with the caveat that it may not be for everyone. It is small, not "hooked into" the major chains, and doesn't have the usual polish that you'd get from a Hilton/Intercontinental/Marriott. I like that, and really don't care much for the generic faux-glam of it all, so this was perfect for me. The staff...

A small hotel full of charm and character, and neat and pleasant as well. The staff was helpful. The coffee maker was supplied with black and herbal tea as well as coffee, which I appreciated. I enjoyed strolling in Washington Square Park, just outside.

Our room, among the largest in the hotel, was on an upper level. It was quiet, even with four windows that opened. The bathroom was huge by NYC standards, with a tremendous shower, two sinks and a window. The TV was substandard, but who watches much TV in New York? The lack of competition among hotels in the heart of...

We had a fantastic time at the Washington Square Hotel. The rooms were perfect, with a lot of character. The staff were so hospitable and always smiling, especially the doorman! Everyone was very accommodating and helpful. We had both the continental breakfast and a full breakfast in their restaurant. Both were delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighborhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighborhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
