Nestled in the city's heart, Hotel Elysee is lauded for its central location, offering guests the convenience to easily explore nearby attractions and amenities. The hotel is celebrated for providing good value, and while the Monkey Bar is considered somewhat expensive, many guests feel the overall rates are reasonable. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with travelers noting the pristine conditions of the rooms and facilities. The comfortable and spacious accommodations receive compliments, although there are mentions of potential updates. While some guests miss the wine and cheese hour, the always-available lounge with snacks and beverages alongside a continental breakfast is a hit. The hotel's classic charm and delightful ambiance are frequently praised, as is the exceptional service provided by the attentive staff.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The location is great. Right in midtown with easy access to nearby attractions and dining. Very safe area, even without the normal throngs of workers due to the pandemic.

This hotel feels just like you’re staying in an European boutique hotel. My room looked over 54th street but I had no issues with noise, even on weekdays. I had a lovely sitting area with a couch, armchair and desk/chair in addition to the bed. The A/C worked great (much appreciated since it was extremely hot during my visit!). The bathroom was large and spotlessly clean.

What really makes this hotel special is the staff. The front desk staff and bellmen are the friendliest I’ve encountered in my many years of travel to NYC. They get to know you and are happy to chat with you or share recommendations. I also loved the lounge area on the second floor. It was great coming back and being able to grab a cold bottle of water or a soda and snack. It was also a nice area to sit in and chat with friends.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. I’ve stayed in many, many hotels in the city and while most have been fine, you really can’t beat this combination of pricing, safety, comfort, location, cleanliness and customer service. I will most definitely be returning.

We are NJ locals and have gone to many small and larger higher end hotels in the city for short in town stays. Hotel Elysée was an excellent choice. Location superb, deluxe king room very spacious. Bed, when optional topper was added was very comfortable. Being off season, the rate which included WiFi, club floor continental breakfast, all day coffee, fruit, cookies, evening happy hour and very reasonable parking fee was an excellent deal. Service wonderful. Bathroom was small but newly renovated. Room decor of this 1926 era hotel is traditional and charming though furniture shows some wear. Immaculately clean. You can hear street noise but hey, it’s NYC and they do offer many amenities to mask sound if it’s a bother. A perfect choice if you are looking for a small, boutique hotel in great NYC neighborhood.

Only 5 minutes walk to MoMA and 10 to Central Park. Our 9th floor deluxe king room on the street side was large annd bright with two windows and a very comfortable bed and feather pillows. Warning - it's not for light sleepers though; this is NYC - the garbage trucks come at 5:30 am everyday, sirens at all hours of the night. The windows are not sealed so it's very noisy. Bring earplugs or ask for a room on the inside.

The club room is an excellent service. Snacks, coffee and tea available 24 hrs a day; decent wine and cheese reception every evening 4 to 8 and a nice continental breakfast with good bagels and newspapers. We saved $100s on eating out plus the time savings.

We want to recognize Ben from the night crew for his outstanding service. We like to have great coffee in the morning (can't abide the lousy US drip coffee at places like this) and bring our own brew but forgot to pack our travel French press. Ben actually brought his own press from home and lent it to us for the stay. Extraordinary and generous!

We'd stay here again.

when we make our annual trip to New York in early January, we always stay at the Elysee. It's a perfect location for the museums we like to visit, close to 5th avenue, convenient for subway and bus, and is cozy and comfortable with excellent service. The decor is traditional and welcoming. Nice wine and cheese are served for hours every evening and continental breakfast is also very nice. All the staff is helpful.

Last February, while in New York City, my wife and I stayed as usual at the Elysée.
We couldn’t think of any other place where to stay when in New York because that boutique hotel really took our hearts.
It is far from the crowd even if it is close to most places of interest. It is like home far from your home.
Class, warm welcome, kindness and cleanliness are the key words there.
The rooms where guests have breakfast and gather for the evening wine and hors d’oeuvre transmit peace and serenity which is a great way to start and end your day.
Under the expert management of Mr. Avina everything is taken care of in every single detail and your wishes are fulfilled.
My wife and I would recommend the Elysée to all those who wish a home when far from their home and a sheltered and classy place when in the town that never sleeps.

fabulous stay as always at Hotel Elysee. It was the first weekend that the hotel had opened since the pandemic and between the staff and the comfortable rooms The Elysee is by far our favorite hotel to stay in while visiting family in NYC.

A product of an earlier age of graciousness, the Elysee wears its age lightly and honorably. Very clean, well-maintained, with excellent service, and a great location, the Elysee offers many lovely touches. The rooms are fair-sized, comfortable, and well furnished, with modern mattresses. The large windows of the second-floor breakfast room overlook East 54th Street, offering a pretty view. The historic Monkey Bar offers fine dining, and there are many very good restaurants within a short walk.

We are a family of four (kids are two teenagers) who visited in June, 2019. We went to NYC to explore the city, see some shows, visit museums, and just experience life in this vibrant city. The Hotel Elysee was a perfect home base. The midtown location is convenient to so much. We were able to walk to most places, and those that we couldn't were just a quick (and easy) subway ride away. Breakfast at the hotel was a great way to start each day. We weren't always back in the evenings on time for the wine reception, but when we were, it was a welcome treat.
We booked the King Grand Suite so that we could spread out a little. It was really an astonishing amount of room for a hotel in NYC. With two teenagers, we have passed the point of being able to squish everyone into a room with two beds. This suite allowed everyone to have room (one child slept on the pullout sofa, the other made a nest on the floor with sofa cushions, sheets, and a blanket - it actually worked great). We had considered just getting two rooms for our family, but after a lot of looking, this was, by far, the most economical way to stay in the heart of it all - without sacrificing quality. The hotel is great and the service is top notch.
There is a little wear and tear starting to show, which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. It was nothing major, and it honestly didn't bother us in the slightest. The positives far outweigh the negatives here. I know we would all stay here again!

A very good place for a decent price. I had a suite facing the courtyard. Big rooms. Quiet. Dated furniture (especially the TV stands, designed for a big old TV set) which takes a lot of space. Bathroom connected to the bedroom with no separate access from the living room. Bathroom amenities for one person instead of two. Setting the proper water temperature was not easy. The suit had a glass-covered terrace, with untransparent glass. An extra room, though. The breakfast was typical French, continental, but with lots of food. Fantastic location (shops, restaurants, museums, transport). Polite and well-trained staff. Two times less expensive than any other place of that quality. Overall: a very good place if you have a limited budget but want something special.

I followed my husband on a business trip and staying at Elysse turned this trip to a marvelous romantic get away. Excellent location. Our room had no view, but was very clean and we loved the classic furniture, the comfortable mattress and the fluffy pillows. Pleasantly surprised by the complementary wine and cheese served late afternoon in the cozy atmosphere of the Club Room by the most kind ladies. Definitely recommending it to friends and look forward to going back!

Is it true there is only 1 slow elevator?
Answer from HotelElysee-GM
New York City, New York
Dear Bruceoz14, Hi Bruce, our passenger elevator is currently out of order. The central brain (controllers), so to speak cannot be repaired, so new controllers have been ordered. They should arrive sometime next week and we anticipate that the elevator will be up and running at the end of July or the first week of August. If you have any further concerns please reach out to us!

Dear bcrisp2, Thank you so much for your message! We have only 1 Junior Suite left over your dates. I will reach out to you via email. Warm regards, Cheryl
Answer from CherylG415

Dear bcrisp2, Thank you for your question! I know in your previous question you asked about Junior Suites and those are specifically on floors 14 &15. The Deluxe King rooms are located throughout the hotel and each option is really based on your personal preference. Room 33 is on the third floor in the back of the building. This will help to avoid the elevator, but the sunlight will be limited. Please let me know if you have any questions. Warm regards, Cheryl Director of Sales & Marketing
