The Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York garners applause for its spacious, comfortable rooms and spotless cleanliness, particularly the bathrooms. Nestled in a prime location, it offers convenience for dining and entertainment, though the vibrant setting contributes to notable noise issues, with disturbances often stemming from the hotel's club. While the modern ambiance is appreciated, sleep quality is compromised for many guests. The staff's service receives mixed reviews, and hidden amenity charges have left some guests feeling the value proposition is lacking.

We chose Hotel Indigo mainly for the location and cost, and we like somewhere that's a bit different. The location is perfect, the lower east side has so many bar and restaurant choices and the transport links meant that we could easily get to other parts of the city.
On checking in we were given a room less likely to be impacted by the weekend parties. I'm sure that was the case and thankfully we were both very tired so mostly slept on the 10th floor whilst the rest of the building vibrated with the beat of very very loud music. We did go up to the 15th floor on Sunday evening for a cocktail with an amazing view, the views are probably the reason we paid $57 for 2 drinks.
Our room was very clean and stylish, it had everything we needed. Our only gripe was that we couldn't take advantage of the $20 a day spend on the mini bar as, despite asking, it wasn't restocked. That felt like a bit of a scam when we're paying a resort charge.
Lastly the staff, the concierge and the housekeeping team were good but the staff working on reception need to learn that they create the 1st impression of the hotel. The reception area isn't huge so when you enter it I think its reasonable to expect a hello or a smile, sadly this was not forthcoming. I would even say that 1 person gave us the impression that she couldn't be less interested in us (the woman with pink hair, we didn't see her smile once in 5 days). It's a shame that this is our lasting thought of the hotel.
To sum up, for price and location 10/10, provided you don't expect much sleep on a Saturday night. However my advise to the managers is to teach the front of house team some customer service standards and how to smile.

Dear MRSJ23, Thank you for selecting our Hotel Indigo Lower East Side New York while visiting New York and for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience. It's a pleasure having you as our guest. I am truly sorry you did not experience an exemplary stay due to the sleeping quality in our room and the service of our staff at the front desk. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be certain that I have noted and forwarded your feedback for the management to improve. In the middle of your experience, I am glad to know that our room's cleanliness and the hotel's location were still appreciated. Please grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Really nice hotel on the lower east side. Extremely spacious room with fabulous views of lower Manhattan. The room was very spacious and the bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was a great size too with and double sized shower. It was simply decorated but very clean. The rooftop bar had amazing views too and was open in the morning where you could get a nice coffee! It was very conveniently located for getting around Manhattan. We walked everywhere, however it was close to the subway on E Houston St too! We would definitely stay here again and look forward to returning!

I’ll first acknowledge that I was very concerned about the noise problem mentioned in other reviews. However, this hotel is such a perfect location and really close to where my conference was held. The “walkability,” atmosphere, and convenience level in the neighborhood is unbeatable. As such, I reached out to the hotel and expressed my concerns. I’d probably share the same concerns as others if the hotel management tried to deceive me but that was not the case. AJ, the manager who kindly got back to me first appreciated me reaching out and he also confirmed with me that there’s a club in the building. That being said, AJ showed overwhelmingly kindness and empathy and suggested that he’d put a note under my reservation and he’d do his best to put me in a room away from noises (although not guaranteed) AJ’s response to me was a perfect demonstration of what top-notch customer service should be. Upon me arriving at the hotel, Lashawn at the front desk kindly greeted me and she said there happened to be a room available that could take me away from the club. Lashawn also explained the breakdown of all charges to me before I took out my credit card. All these gestures definitely put me at ease because it shows that this hotel is being honest and transparent and they do their very best to put their customers in the first place.

I’ll be honest that during my stay that I heard nonstop music from the club but the volume wasn’t crazy. Since I was mentally prepared for this situation so it didn’t bother me at all. I ran into different groups of club-goers during my stay but everyone was respectful and there was always someone at the lobby making sure everything was in order. So yeah , I did witness the club scene but I was able to live peacefully with it because of the hotel’s top-notch customer service.

Besides the customer service, I’d like to also mention that the room is much larger than many other hotels in the city and their bed was so comfy. I almost overslept for my conference because how many the bed felt. If anything, I wish there was a bathtub in the room because walking in NYC for an entire day can be very exhausting. But even so, I’m more than happy to recommend this hotel and their staff to others and I can’t wait to come back when I visit NYC next time.

This hotel is a small boutique hotel with around 200 rooms and a hidden gem with amazing customer service. At check-in front desk team was so friendly, explained that family style rooms with 2 beds are lower floors but their bar/restaurant on floor 15 has views and great dishes. When I asked housekeeping to service the bathroom while my daughter and I rested in room, they did an excellent job and offered to sweep the floor as well. When it was raining the front desk staff lent us umbrellas for free so kindly. When I asked concierge if I can take a city map he said you can take anything you want. After checkout we went to lunch and hotel bell checked our luggage and offered to call a cab for us to airport. After lunch we took Uber back to hotel with same Uber taking us to multiple stops, and hotel bellman carried our 3 luggages across the street and put them in Uber trunk for us. Security at door was professional too, explaining that Thursday to Saturday evenings with bar open they need to see our room key to enter the facility.

As for the room it is hardwood/tile floors, remodeled, clean with comfortable beds and free WiFi. There is a desk and mini bar with free coffee/tea Keurig machine.

It was a great place to walk to various landmarks and right next to CVS, Marshall’s, Katz deli for essentials.

There are no robes or slippers so remember to bring your own.

We were assigned room 1201. There is no 13th floor in the hotel, as is customary. The 14th floor is a nightclub. On the night of Saturday November 16th, that nightclub was already going at 6pm. When we stopped by our room to drop off some things at 6:30, we noticed the noise from the nightclub - booming bass and drums - was excessive. There are two elevator banks at the hotel - one is for all floors, and one is only for floors 1 - 15. That latter one is quicker for people on those lower floors. At 6:00, a bouncer was present and forbade hotel guests from using those elevators. My room rate that night, incidentally, was $374, and I was a second-class person in favor of clubgoers.

I want to note here that there is a bar on the 15th floor and a nightclub on the 14th floor. I challenge you to find any mention of the 14th floor on the hotel's website. It doesn't exist.

We complained at 6:30pm about the noise and the bouncer situation. The front desk said the hotel was sold out so we could not be moved. Nothing was done about the bouncer.

That night, we did not get any sleep until the nightclub stopped operating at 4am. (The front desk "mistakenly" told us it would shutter at 3:30am). Again - being on the 12th floor, this nightclub was literally 8 - 9 feet above our heads. The noise and vibration was impossible to ignore or escape. We left the TV on to try and drown it out, to no avail. A call at midnight to complain resulted in absolutely nothing.

We left to check out around 8:30 and complained. A manager came out. We explained everything written above. He thanked us for being Silver members and then basically told us that "every booking site" mentions that there is a nightclub and warns people. I did not use a booking site apart from IHG's own. I looked again at the listing for this hotel and there is not one syllable written in warning about a nightclub operating on the 14th floor until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays. The only warning tells us that the pool is not in operation. I was given a refund of my "resort fee" and 10,000 points, which is good for about 1/3 of a weekend stay in a big city.

Incidentally, we had stayed here once before - in September 2023 - in room 1009 and we had no problems whatsoever. Room 1201, however, is an absolute nightmare of a disaster and literally should not be sold to anyone other than people leaving the nightclub in need of a place to crash.

The gaslighting from the manager about how the bouncer isn't supposed to bar hotel guests from using the elevators and how we should have known about the club and the noise was simply unacceptable and unwanted. Under normal circumstances, at check-in someone should have warned us that the room is directly under a nightclub that operates until 4am blaring loud techno music and is that ok. We did not get that courtesy, and frankly given the fact that this is a hotel we should have been offered a refund due to the fact that we did not get any measurable sleep until 4am.

The room was otherwise fine, the location is fun, but this facility needs to decide if it wants to be a hotel or a nightclub, because it is unreasonable for it to be both and expect people to get rest.

Dear BuffaloPundit, Thank you for sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize for the disturbances caused by the nightclub, the elevator access issues, and the poor communication about potential noise. We understand how frustrating it must have been to face these challenges, especially as a loyal Silver member. Please rest assured we are addressing these challenges with our partners at The Club and have taken necessary steps to prevent future occurrences. Cheap Ownership. They will tack on made up revenue-generating fee and not be transparent about what it costs for your stay with them. If you’re comparing their rate to other in the area, add $36 plus tax and a few more dollars for other made up fees per night to your stay. It added up to over $140 just added to our stay at the last minute. We’ve stayed at this location many times before and they’ve really downgraded our experience by charging hidden fees and justifying them offering a minibar credit and standard amenities like WiFi and shared gym. (Also, they tack in sales tax to the minibar credit and add a 15% “restocking fee” to the overpriced drinks)

Why can they not just factor this into the room rate when you make the reservation? Because they want to trick you into giving them more money.

The Mr Purple club locate on the 15th floor is very noisy, very late into the night.

I have stayed here many times in the past, I have recommended this hotel to friends and family, when my parents come to the city, I put them up in this hotel. I will never give them my business again and neither should you.

To emphasize, the added cost they trick you into paying, does not improve your experience at all.

Additionally, I had a poor experience with everyone who I talked to at the front desk

Visited NYC many times on shopping sports breaks from UK and have stayed all over Manhattan and NJ areas ,
This was my first return since the pandemic and first at the Hotel Indigo . It ticked many boxes .
Had done some home work pre arrival and contacted Hotel requesting a quite room not to close to MR P s as I’m a light sleeper about a week before .
received a reply saying they would flag request and would not be a problem . Also explained I would be receiving some parcels addressed to me while staying as a guest . Again not a problem JFK to hotel via subway in an hour and a bit 5 min walk from F Train subway

. First impression guy on the door welcomed us and on to front desk very smooth check in and the request for quiet room had been flagged up and I was directed to 4 floor so far so good .

Room clean bed very comfy mini bar ( don’t ever use these myself as I know through experience they can cause problems sometimes ) large TV coffe machine , couldn’t fault it

First night (a Friday) heard some NYC st noise siren etc that was it and remained like that for rest of trip no grumbles about MR P from this camper even ended going up there a few times DJ was playing some right cheeky little sets ( took me back to Sterns 1991 ) again staff friendly all good .
Surrounding area typical lower east side . couple pan handlers but not aggressive most people polite and friendly didn’t feel overly concerned walking at night lot of people around Marshals next to Katz Deli worth a mooch about pharmacy next door had the cheapest peanut butter M&Ms around . Didn’t bother joining the line to go in Katz deli( £25 for a pastrami Sarmie no thanks ) walk 3 blocks along Houston to Heavenly Hot Bagels proper NY bagal deli joint and the prices are very good value . friendly staff and a possession of front line responders picking up their orders always a good sign

Check out midday no grumbles here will definitely use again.

We spent 4 nights in this hotel. It is quite well placed. The metro is easily accessible.
The rooms are average compared to the price paid, the bedding is not very comfortable.
The hotel is very noisy w.end because of the Purple bar on the 15th floor. There is noise until 6am...
Beautiful amenity fee scam: applicable daily fee obligatorily equivalent to $40 per night, including $10 mini bar (in which half of the items exceed this sum of course), wifi access (still happy...) 30min bike (not tested) and 10$ credit poir room service in room from 7am to 11am. Except that no one knows about this room service, no information in room or at reception, or at the Purple bar....
No breakfast available except in addition to purple which is supposedly independent of the hotel

Absolutely Superb stay . Everything was perfect. With Huge thanks to the 2 Mgrs , Milita and Jennifer -
Both are friendly, warm , beyond considerate - And crucially, they genuinely listen to your needs, requests ,and take great care in ensuring they’re met & sorted almost immediately .
They genuinely want you to have a great stay & make 100% sure of it
No matter how minor the issue ( I couldn’t get radio to play was one ) i’d ring them and tech guy came in mins , to show me how it worked . Then 5 mins later they called ,exactly when they said they would, to check that it was now sorted ! ( something I haven’t experienced in any hotel for many years ) They follow up to make sure you’re happy with any changes made , just extremely accommodating to every need and so on the ball. My mgr, who stays there booked me in , & told me that Milita & Jennifer are the hotel’s jewels & to ask for them
. She was spot on -when I told them my room was lovely but not much of a view, &! I needed quieter one away from streetside (as was on writing deadline) They happily upgraded me to a beautuful , far larger , corner 18th floor room with spectacular views of the city in all directions . And silence. Huge bathroom , showers were pristine & powerful water pressure while the pillows & bed were so comfortable , it took serious willpower to get up and write . All in all , a fantastic stay . I’ve been back since with same results . Highly recommended !

We booked Hotel Indigo based on our previous experiences with other Indigo properties in the US which was pretty nice and pleasant. We stayed one night at Hotel Indigo Lower Eastside to attend a venue nearby. We just didn’t like how this hotel was decorated (graffiti themed artwork, low neon lightings in common area and in our room etc.). This booking was point resumption and supposed to have $31 for tax payment however, we are told that the hotel has a mandatory amenity fee of $41 for every room regardless of how room was booked. Amenity charge apparently includes $20 per day mini bar charge, free electric bike rental, internet etc. but as a Platinum IHG member, I was supposed to get welcome amenity (snack if I choose to) and free WiFi anyway, so I don’t see any value for this mandatory “amenity fee” during our stay. I wasn’t ask for the choice of welcome gift options (point / snack) upon check in either. The hotel bar was also closed for special private event. At the check out, I was told that $41 amenity fee is result of $31 tax for the point resumption stay plus the tax for the $31 (tax for tax??). For our next stay, I prefer not to stay in Lower Manhattan area and we would definitely not stay at this hotel.
