The Knickerbacker, nestled near Times Square, is frequently lauded for its remarkably quiet ambiance, particularly on upper floors, and the high cleanliness standards maintained throughout. Guests appreciate the modern and stylish atmosphere and the service, often described as professional and attentive, although some have experienced delays with elevators and room service.
While the amenities are generally praised, the lack of in-room coffee facilities has been noted. Despite its prime location and comfortable rooms, the hotel's value for money is sometimes questioned due to high charges and additional fees.

A very nice hotel in a great location (a hop skip and jump from Times Square). Room 807 (a premier room) was comfortable although a little small. If I had a bigger budget I think the junior suite would have been a better fit for us. The view was not great and was obstructed by scaffolding Nov 2024 -who knows how long it will be there. Old buildings like this generally don't provide the views that floor to ceiling windows offer but that is OK because I love the architectural presence these old building create.
Room service was excellent and quick. Espresso martinis on the rooftop bar met combined with the view from the roof made up for the limited views in the room.
The bed was a little firm for my preference. The shower had great water pressure and my wife loved premium soaps, shampoos, shower gel etc... The bathroom could be accessed from the bedroom by walking around the closet either to the right or left and the door to the bathroom was frosted glass. Why do I point this detail out? Because if you turned on the bathroom light it was going to provide lots of illumination into the bedroom. Maybe not a big deal but I wake up early whereas my wife does not and for me taking a shower and get dressed woke her up.
The same frosted glass was used for the shower walls and the toilet which were beside one another. Glad that it was my wife and I sharing the room.

Room was clean and comfortable and very modern which belies the exterior of the building. Good quality bedding, towels etc. Room was very quiet, isolated from any of the Times Square noise polution so sleep was very good. Room was smaller than we'd expected but as it was only used for sleeping was not an issue. There is so much to do on the doorstep!! Staff are very friendly and helpful and we'd highly recommend the Charlie Palmer Grill, the food in there was amazing!! Only gripe was the unforseen $45USD + tax per day Residents charge which we werent aware of, so anyone visiting should budget for that. Not really the hotels fault so not marked them down for it, but make sure you read the small print from whoever you book with. NYC is an amazing city and Knickerbocker is perfectly placed to go and explore from. We'd recommend buying a city tour through Viatours which we did and we visited many of the major attractions of Manhattan all in one day and then picked the ones we wanted to revisit in more detail. The list is endless and in our 3 days we only scratched the surface. We'll definitely be back!!

Great room, very clean, large bathroom, shower very pleasant, great service, good sound insulation to the street, we felt very comfortable and the head office - but because of the good sound insulation - nevertheless quiet location was optimal. We will definitely come back to this hotel the next time we In NY.

The hotel is nice- rain shower, Turkish bathrobes, slippers, umbrellas and bottled water. The location is central - walk out the door to Times Square and Express subway lines to all locals, east , west, downtown, and uptown. I have noticed reviews complaining about no coffee maker, and I must admit, that seems very Econo Lodge; there is a quick and easy kiosk/cafe in the lobby where you can get not only coffee but a bagel, pastry, quick bite. Families who will stay in the most touristy parts of the city will like the central location. However, there are no common spaces as you might find in some more family-friendly hotels, outside of the restaurants and rooftop bar. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. It is a great stay for a couple or business travel. I saw loads of families there, and they all seemed quite happy.

7 day xmas break. After booking we decided to get married during our stay and emailed hotel to request if this was something that would be possible in one of the hotel bars (just the two of us + celebrant) for the 28/12. No response or acknowledgement from hotel. Advised by our wedding planner / celebrant to enquire on arrival. 11pm arrival check in was impersonal & no assistance offered with bags. No where public to relax have a drink after 7 hr flight but were advised that room service was available which we declined and headed out to Times Square and found a bar. Fairly basic room (not to 5* standard) was very poorly lit wand dark even in day time. Definitely not star standard. As already mentioned in other reviews no Tea / coffee making facility. Very conveniently placed hotel and we weren’t bothered by noise or light - beds were large, comfy and bathroom area spacious.
2nd night in we visited rooftop bar for drinks and were directed to the manager with our request for our very small ceremony. We were asked to email him with details and he explained that he would need to check with the events manager that this would not clash with preparation for NYE celebrations. Again, no response or acknowledgement, leaving us no option but to source a suitably fitting place ourselves. The only outstanding service rec’d was from Gania in CPs @ bfast throughout our stay. A credit to the hotel and exemplary hostess. She, on hearing our experience could not have been more apologetic and presented us with complementary bubbles and was able to waive to cost of our breakfast. Thankyou so much Gania.

You are not going to find a better sized room in Manhattan. My family of 4 had tons of space in our Premier 2 Queen room, it even had a fold out couch. The hotel is well maintained and we loved the modern and minimalist but yet warm feel of the rooms.
Our biggest complaint has to be the low wait for elevators, which is exacerbated when outside guests are heading up to the rooftop. Definitely look to get a room on a higher floor because you will encounter a full elevator when trying to go down if you are on a lower floor. It's an old, historic building so the elevators situation "is what it is".
Our room faced 42nd St was pretty quiet except for police/fire/ambulance sirens.
We waited until our last day to visit the rooftop and unfortunately, it was book for a private event. I wish the hotel could let guests know in advance and then we would have planned accordingly.

We had high expectations of this pricey room and it delivered. Location just above the subway at SEC of Broadway and 42nd in Times Square makes you a quick walk/ride from the entire city. Doormen were present half the time, brought bags to room quickly, and kept away the non guests from entering. Elevator requires a key card to access your floor as most do in major cities now. The room was ice cold during some of the hottest weather in NY this year, remote controlled drapes kept it plenty dark to sleep in after a late night. Double vanity sinks huge mirror, walk in shower with rain soaking head (was spa like) with opaque glass doors. The bathroom door is a sliding glass opaque glass door with a drape for extra privacy and to block light from the bathroom window. Queen beds instead of the full size at many NY hotels is one of the reasons we chose the Knickerbocker; they were the best beds of our east coast vacation. Large sitting couch was a nice place to crash after walking 5th Ave and Times Square and crush Joe's Pizza in the wee hours of the night. Room was clean, two bottles of water each day, ice delivered by food service as needed, remotes for lights, drapes and to show privacy wanted or service needed. Small closet had slippers/robes, hangers and a few drawers including a safe if you feel the need for one. We hope to be back. Our one regret is that we didn't get to the St. Cloud roof top as it closes earlier than we returned each night.

We visited the Knickerbocker last weekend, our first time in New York. We cannot praise the staff highly enough, from the gentleman on the door that greeted us to housekeeping and bar staff, they were all so friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless, good quality products in the hotel room, diptyque and high thread count sheets. The little things make a big difference! We went through British Airways and got a brilliant deal, well worth the money. We want to return as soon as possible, thank you!

I have stayed at the Knickerbocker on a number of previous occasions and have found it to be very good as a Hotel for 'doing business' in the centre of NY City... The staff are always great (and once again, Lucy on reception found me a very comfortable room), and provide a warm welcome (thank you Diana and the reception / front door team). The good news from this trip was the upgrade to the Charlie Palmer restaurant on the 4th floor. While the service from Gania and Houssein was always - and remains - outstanding, the new seating is much more comfortable than it used to be - and is at the right level for the tables! The move to having table cloths at breakfast is also a noticeable 'statement' to expect more than found in the majority of business hotels. The breakfast was good as well. As ever, the thing I like about the rooms is that there is more space than in many NY city hotels, and a bath-tub as well as shower. The beds are comfortable and the rooms kept very clean. Thanks again to all the team for making my stay comfortable enabling me to be more productive. Ian H

The hotel is recently renovated, but it seems that work continues on the facade covered with scaffolding, like all of New York for that matter. Thank goodness that external noises are not perceived inside the room because it is well insulated. Instead it is good to stay away from the elevators and access to the service stairs because you can hear everything even considering the rudeness that now characterizes the general tourist. Despite this the stay was pleasant. The room is spacious and bright. In the bathroom there are Diptyque products that are the ones I use daily. Breakfast is served in the Charlie Parker restaurant, on the fourth floor, both buffet style and Ă la carte. There is also a roof-top very popular especially with external customers. I would have put the espresso machine in the room. Three-star hotels have it now, too. The empty minibar is a no to me!
