Located in the heart of Manhattan, The Luxury Collection Hotel Midtown is celebrated for its spacious and luxurious rooms, which guests find to be a comfortable haven with upscale amenities. Its prime location earns high marks for being close to NYC's iconic attractions and transit. However, the value proposition is a point of contention, with numerous guests feeling the sting of overpriced services and unexpected charges. While the rooms are generally appreciated for their comfort, cleanliness and maintenance issues have marred the experience for some.
Opinions on amenities are split, with particular criticism directed at service inconsistencies and breakfast entitlements. Service quality also varies; although some staff members receive acclaim for their efficiency, others are noted for their lack of professionalism and slow response times. Cleanliness generally receives praise, but there are notable lapses in housekeeping for certain guests.

My husband and I stayed here for nearly a month during the renovation of our apartment. We chose the hotel for its spacious rooms and proximity to our home. The hotel also promoted itself as pet-friendly, which was a major selling point as the parents of two 15-year-old small dogs.
Unfortunately, our experience did not align with the hotel’s pet-friendly claim, and we encountered several issues with our room. During our stay, the air conditioning failed, as did the keycard access battery for our room door. The shower handle fell off the wall, and the TV in our bedroom was non-functional. Regarding housekeeping, our room was routinely left unserviced because the staff were uncomfortable with the dogs, even though they were always leashed and I was present. We spoke to the housekeeping manager, who promised that our room would be cleaned daily at a set time with a pet-friendly housekeeper present. However, not once did the cleaning staff show up as promised. While the housekeepers were generally wonderful, the hotel’s management was extremely disappointing. Our only consolation was a credit for two drinks at the hotel bar, which frequently failed to make our cocktails correctly.
The hotel hosts professional sports teams, who seem to receive exceptional service, while regular guests are treated poorly. The line to check in or out is often 20 people deep. This hotel is in desperate need of a management overhaul under Bonvoy’s ownership.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback about your extended stay. We are sorry that you did not have a five-star stay and that your experience did not meet your expectations. The maintenance problems you mentioned are unacceptable, especially during such an extended stay. We will share your comments with maintenance to rectify these points. It is also concerning to hear about the inconsistency with housekeeping services despite prior arrangements being made. While we are glad you found the housekeeping staff generally excellent, we apologize for any inconsistency of service. We appreciate your insights and will take your feedback into consideration to ensure improvements are made. We hope for the opportunity to provide a better experience in the future.

We stayed here for a 4 night visit during the Christmas season. I was hesitant given some of the very negative reviews, but I believed that Marriott would have their act together. Our stay was very nice, the room was roomy and well done, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the location of this hotel was perfect for what we wanted to do - short walks to Central Park, the shopping on 5th Avenue and Rockefeller Center. The only negative was the carpet in the bedroom was pretty worn and stained, but aside from that the room was clean and spacious.

My wife and I stayed here over the New Year period late Dec- early Jan 25. The hotel was fantastic. The rooms are very large and have everything you need. We stayed in a One Bedroom King Suite and I would highly recommend this room type. The location was prefect for us and close to Central Park although you could also walk to Times Square in about 10 mins. The bar staff were brilliant and the cocktails were amazing. We found the prices for eating/drinking in the hotel very expensive but that didn't matter as we ate and drank out most of the time. We booked this trip as part of a BA holidays package. Overall an excellent hotel with fantastic staff.

Luxury Collection Midtown is located at 7th and 54th. Depending on mode of transport and traffic it will take you about an hour to get to either Kennedy or Newark airports, JFK or EWR, and LaGuardia, LGA, a little faster. The ground floor is home to the reception desk, as well the restaurant. The rooms are a good size and well planned, and has the ability to close in between the living area and the bedroom. The hotel has a good gym on the 4th floor which is spaciouswith plenty of machines and weights. The location is excellent for experiencing New York as it is moments away from most attractions and well connected with both subway and buses. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars within moments from the hotel. Overall a good choice for exploring NYC however bear in mind the hefty "resort" fee for things you didn't ask for! There is also the fact that a breakfast rate doesn't mean breakfast as it is turned into F&B credit and you get $25 credit and the full breakfast is $50 and this doesn't include tax or tips!

Anything but luxury at this hotel. I booked when it was a Conrad and decided to take the risk of staying once it had changed hands to Marriott despite the mixed reviews and really wish I hadn’t. We were celebrating a 50th birthday so I called the hotel a few days before to ask for Guest Relations as I wanted to arrange a small box of chocolates or similar to be in the room on arrival. Was told they could not put me thru but I should email the front office manager. So I did, twice, but no reply. Once at the hotel, I enquired about the lack of reply with one of the front office managers, Mark, who gave me the impression something would be done - we never heard another word on the matter.
The rooms themselves are a decent size and comfortable even if a bit dated. But that’s where the positives end. It took 25 mins to check in at 5pm (and we’d see a queue on a daily basis). Front desk staff seem simply disinterested and anything you ask them seems a chore. There was no “welcome to the our hotel”, I was simply handed the room key without being told the room number or having any of the hotel facilities explained. Quality of housekeeping was erratic; bath towels would be removed and sometimes replaced and sometimes not so you had to call up. Asked for slippers, they never arrived. At the evening turndown, they sometimes leave a chocolate on the pillow, sometimes not and one day only one of us got one - all these little things are just inconsistent with a “luxury” experience and more akin to a 3*/4* hotel. The location is convenient but there are so many better hotels in the same area so I’d spend your money wisely.

My family and I had a wonderful two-night stay in November to attend a family wedding in New York. From arrival, despite the long queue at check-in, the service, elite status (Ambassador) recognition, and attention to detail were excellent. Julissa was warm and provided a flawless check-in experience. We had booked a standard 1-bedroom Suite and were upgraded to the Park View Suite that offered a nice view of Central Park and the Upper West Side.
The Park View Suite had a separate sitting and living area, and adequate drawers and closet area.
During our short stay, the entire hotel staff was courteous and went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay in New York. The bathroom was not the largest at Luxury Collection hotels that we have stayed, but it was new and featured white marbles throughout, and had everything we needed for the stay.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at The Luxury Collection Hotel in Manhattan Midtown. Thank you for making this a comfortable and special stay for us. We look forward to returning next time we visit New York.

Before the pandemic, I routinely stayed at this hotel (as the London and as the Conrad). it was a perfect location for work and theater. After spending 5 nights here in May 2024, I will not be back. The rooms are large, and I always enjoyed the separate living space. Unfortunately, the interiors are worn and need a very deep clean and fresh paint. The best word that I can use for the room is "dingy." Service is non-existent. If you try to reach someone (concierge, operator, front desk) by phone, good luck. The phone is rarely, if ever, answered. (God forbid a guest have a real emergency in his or her room.) We also tried the hotel's texting service. We sent a text stating that our bathroom sink was clogged on the second day. Someone eventually responded to the text to say it would be fixed. No one fixed the sink. On occasion, we would ask the front desk if our room could be refreshed while we were out for the evening. We were always told "of course" but again it often didn't happen. One day, housekeeping failed to visit our room. We did speak with a hotel manager about all of our issues, and while he was apologetic. He offered no real solutions other than a $100 credit. I plan to discuss my experience with Am Ex Platinum. It should not be recommending this property to its members in its fine hotels and resorts listings.

Travelling from Ireland, we stayed here for 6 nights in January for a first time visit to NY.
We had 2 rooms under 2 separate bookings, both of which were very spacious and comfortable. One of the rooms was on the 38th floor and the other was on the 50th. No complaints on the bedrooms.
Restaurant/bar is extremely overpriced and it is quite annoying that the hotel is fully cashless - wish this was communicated before our visit. The lobby is also extremely small and there is basically nowhere to sit other than the restaurant. I do not believe the hotel deserves a 5 star rating, it is 4 star at best.
Door men were friendly and accommodating, however; reception staff, not so much. The lady who checked us in was not welcoming at all. A charge was also put on our card for $900, for which the checkin lady could not even provide a valid reasoning for - she was awfully rude. Although, she said it will be refunded immediately at check out, so we accepted this.
It is now over 2 weeks since we left the hotel and we have still not received the refund. I called up the hotel last week and was told “it is on the way and probably do with your bank” - this it untrue, it is nothing to do with MY bank. I have read many reviews on here with people complaining about the same thing i.e “check your bill” “scam payments” etc, so this is 100% a fault of the hotel and I will be disputing this until I receive the refund.
We also found it very strange that the people we were travelling with were not charged $900, but only $150 on their booking at check-in. They stayed the same number of nights and in an almost identical room type. Why the discrepancy? It doesn’t make any sense. This issue needs to be addressed. Reception staff clearly aren’t following the same procedures.
Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay and the location was very ideal. It is a pity that the payment issue has now put a damper on our experience with this hotel, as if it weren’t for this, we would happily return and stay here again. I am hoping this will be resolved asap as if so, we would consider staying again.

Hotel is located in a very nice part of Manhattan with easy access to all areas of the city. Approximately a 10-15 minute walk to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Was able to check-in easily on the app and pick my floor and room location and never had to wait in line or consult the front desk in person for the check in process. After booking this room I was under the impression it would be a room with a king size bed, and was a bit surprised, that unlike most of the USA hotels, manhattan hotels still offer queen size beds, so had to pay an up-charge to upgrade to a junior suite to get a larger bed. The hotel lobby itself was very small and dark with very minimal if any seating areas. Elevators were readily available and well kept, moving expeditiously. Room itself was very nice with a view towards downtown/and east side, but floor not high enough (even being the 51st floor) to see all the way downtown as the buildings surrounding it are higher. If I could have done it over again, I think I would have picked a Central Park view. The room was a nice large size, it was a junior suite with a very nice comfortable King Size bed and luxury linens/bedding. Very nice living room and large luxurious bathroom as well. Had a very nice stay and would recommend it to others.

I wonder if I stayed at the same Pension as some reviews!! Clearly we have nothing wrong. stay in the middle of summer in August; the check in was quick professional efficient ( thank you Stephanie) we even had in early check in. the suite very well could be joined to our children's room. floor 31 certainly no particular view but good we are in midtown. we used twice the room service very well. the continental breakfast for 25 dollars perfect with fruit juice pastries fresh fruit yogurt etc taken into account with the credit. we heard no noise at night; very comfortable mattress; spacious bathroom soft bathrobe slippers, mini bar espresso machine in the living room. Clearly the Award in August in New York is there considering the location near central Park, times square ,empire state etc. all the staff was very pleasant and attentive to our requests. small points to work on bed preparation in the evening absent 2 times; pajamas throw loose on the bed or bedside table after cleaning in the morning; the non-threaded espresso machine on the last day .these are non-essential but important points on a luxury chain But clearly in the end a beautiful stay and a beautiful team that can only refine the small details

This is part of the problem. there is no one to talk to at this hotel. Even after you check in if you call the front desk you are on hold for 30 minutes. I can't believe the Marriott group treats its guests like this. As I say, this hotel is anything but Luxurious. It's basic and awful on every level and they don't care which makes it very sad after staying there for so many years.
There are more places to choose from in the New York City area.
