Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Hotel 57 in New York City offers a comfortable environment that many guests find clean and sometimes stylish, though certain areas are noted to require updating. While its prime location is frequently praised, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with undisclosed fees and the hotel's refund policy. The rooms, seen as clean, vary in terms of size and noise levels, with a few decor and noise complaints. Service quality has been called into question, particularly regarding responsiveness and breakfast service. Despite this, the overall cleanliness and peaceful ambiance in a busy area are well-regarded.

This hotel is a great value and the front desk staff and bellmen were welcoming and very helpful. The rooms were clean but lacking somewhat in amenities and features were present but not useful.

We were there for a girls trip to the city. When we checked in, there were no robes in the closet. The coffee service was missing instructions and the stirring sticks. There was no notepad, pen or book of hotel services or numbers on the desk or in the drawers.

The rooms are very dark so in the morning, with the blinds closed for privacy the room was very dark. At night, there was not enough light. I'm not sure if it was the light bulbs or the number of lights/lamps. The reading lights are on top of the headboard and useful but the switch is up there too so you have to get out of bed to turn off your reading light; not very practical.

There was no seating in the room other than the desk chair but we did have a terrace with seats (but not useful in January).

The closet space was plentiful and beautiful wood paneling but there were 3 hangers in each closet. Not even enough for 2 ladies to hang all their clothes for the week and we had to request more.

The bathroom was clean but there is no makeup mirror so bring your own. The tub/shower was clean but outdated for the rest of the room with the shower curtain and fixtures. Aveda amenities were very nice!

There is a coffee service in the room but there are not outlets where it's stored so you have to move it to the desk.

There are plenty of outlets for plugging in and charging all your devices.

There can be some noise from doors opening and closing on the floor.

We stayed 2ice in last 3 months in this Hotel which is at the centre of Manhattan best location .
it was one of few hotels operating with safety guidelines.
We were so pleased with the management & the staff that leaving no review will be a disservice to the privileged treatment we received .
The hotel rooms specially bathroom is more spacious then other hotels around in the same lines.
Rooms are clean & well kept , The service is prompt & needless to say they go out of their way to help the guest .
During our stay we found we were in the safest & most sanitized property .
Raymond was supper professional & his kind acceptance to all our demands made our stay wonderful .
he helped us with the parking first & a very reasonable rate.
keeping the covid exposure in mind he suggested us best ways to move & also directed us hygienic & good places to shop which reflects value for money .
He also helped us with delivery apps for food & gave us a list of restaurants to dine in.
Eventually grocery guidance was also given for which my wife was so happy with .

over all a great experience & recommended hotel to stay .

Beautiful room very friendly staff. I was upgraded to a suite for no additional cost.
I was accidentally charged twice and the staff caught the issue and removed without me even asking. Staff was extremely helpful and actually informed us of things to do around the location

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel 57. The hotel's staff is very friendly, including the cleaning ladies that always asked if we need it anything extra. I have to give a special shout out to Raymond at the front desk. He helped us with a special request, and every day gave us ideas on where to eat, and places to visit.
The beds in the room were so very comfortable, as were the pillows. One feature that I really appreciated were the high ceilings in the room, the absence of noise of people walking from the top floor, which you get from chain hotels. I would describe this hotel as pleasant, quiet, and comfortable. I'm hoping to come back next year with my kids, and I look forward to my future stay at this hotel.

We booked this hotel through a BA package deal with a group of 4, first couple checked in with no issues but the lady said she had no record of the second booking which seemed odd. Even though we were able to provide them with the BA email confirming 2 rooms had been paid for they wanted us to pay for another room for the first night while they looked into this. We declined and asked to speak to the manager, who was more competent as he found the other booking...however this room has been given to someone else with the same surname! We eventually got a second room which should have been the end of it however when we compared our two rooms it became apprarent that even though we had paid for the same room the new room was half the size of the first with some fold out bed, therefore we went back to reception to ask to have what we had paid for, to be fair to them they changed the room straight away. The rest of the trip there was great after the initial hitches, clean large rooms with good views and the hotel was in a good location, would recommend staying here

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel between Christmas and the new year. The location is excellent. it is on Lexingtion and 57th. It's only two short blocks from a subway stop at Lexington and 59th street. It is a short walk to 5th Avenue, Central Park, and Times Square. We found the location to be a convenient base for exploring the city. The room was ok. Even though we were on a fairly low floor (7), the room was quiet. The bed was comfortable even though it was only a full sized bed. The room was decently sized. The bathroom was good. There were only two working elevators and they are very small. We had to wait for a second elevator several times.

On the negative side, the lounge is not up to par with other Marriott properties. The room was not as clean as I would have preferred. Even though I am a titanium member, there were no upgrades available. They did not provide the extra towels, washcloths, and pillows I requested through the Marriott App.

Overall, it was a great vacation and the hotel served its purpose.

Hotel 57 is one of the best hotels I've stayed at for the price. It was a great value. We had a double room that was very clean, comfy beds, and while small (most NYC hotels are) was spacious enough for two adults with luggage. The only thing missing was a full-length mirror. The free continental breakfast was great. They served good coffee and food, it was perfect for saving a little more money for shopping especially if you are someone who doesn't have a huge morning appetite like me. I was able to fill my water, grab coffee or tea, and get some fruit. If I was being more leisurely I probably would have indulged in more of the food options.

My husband and I stayed here one night in early August, and then returned last week for three nights when I was coming to NYC to have surgery. We have both stayed in hotels around the world, but no where have we been treated so kindly as when we stayed here. Raymond at the front made sure we were in a room that would be quiet and cozy, and the friendly gentleman at the door (we unfortunately did not catch his name) was ready to provide suggestions for dining, etc. The room was clean ( I had no concerns even with COVID) and the hotel took care of any of our requests. The part that meant the most to us was that we felt cared for during a visit that was not for enjoyment especially being five hours from home. We will be returning to Hotel 57 for my post-op check and look forward to seeing the staff again.

As soon as we stepped in, the warmth and caring nature of all the staff was clear and plentiful. We had a hiccup with a purse we thought we’d lost, they were quick to help and very sympathetic, ensuring it’s return was then kept safe.
We were given a great room, it was clean and prepared well every day (although not all glasses/towels used were replaced like for like). Every time we returned from a day out or coming down in the morning the greetings from all staff were genuine and outgoing, they all were so happy to help and provide a compassionate environment. The bed was VERY comfortable.
Everything you need is very close including the Subway. Have your coffee from Juan Valdez on 57th across the street and your pizza from My Pie pizza just around the corner on Lexington - both awesome. CVS Pharmacy for cheap beer, daily essentials, chocolate and tit bits further down Lexington several blocks.
If returning to New York we’d definitely stay here again. Thank you Jennyffer 😘 !!!!

The photos on various websites give you the impression that the front of house decor quality/standards translate to the rooms. This is not the case, like all NY hotels the rooms are small even the executive ones are all decorated minimally with brown/orange as the dominant colours. It is important to understand the $40 charged for facilities fee buys you WIFI that's it. No bar, no restaurant. Front of house is impressive, the lifts too but not the rooms. Housekeeping is excellent.
