We recently stayed in, I believe, room 1214. The hotel was fine. I really recommend that either the head person in charge of the rooms being cleaned or some part of management, personally check how the sink and tub drain and how the toilet flushes. Not just this hotel, all hotels/motels. Also, the baseboards should be cleaned regularly. The sink in this room was slow to drain, but a tiny hook, behind the bathroom door held a former guest's towel. I would stay here again, but I think that it is important to mention these things so it could be rectified on a regular basis.

This is a reasonably priced hotel on the UES in a great location - walking distance to the Met, the East River promenade, the Guggenheim, and Central Park. The room was small and when you opened the closet, a person could get through. It has a coffee maker, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. They clean the rooms every day, but I would gladly trade off the daily cleaning service for breakfast. I understand that with the pandemic, many hotels stopped serving breakfast, but at the Fairfield Inn (another Marriott property) in Greensboro, they serve a great breakfast to go and last time I stayed, even had hot items on weekends. Given NYC is so expensive, breakfast would be an added incentive to stay at the hotel. The king sized bed was very comfortable.

The hotel’s location makes it a good jumping off point for various activities in upper and even mid Manhattan. On my short stay I was easily able to walk to a nearby hospital, feeling quite safe even late at night (although walking cautiously; it IS New York!) and was able to take uber and cabs to destinations further uptown. Check in was fast as was checkout. The room was small but comfortable and clean. There was a microwave for tea ( and anything else) and all the usual amenities including dryer and iron.My one grouse was that there was no robe. All in all, this is a convenient and functional hotel. And decent,y priced too.

The Courtyard Marriott upper east side is not what they represent online. The hotel does not meet the basic standards of the Marriott Brand. The room we were provided was old, dirty, disgusting. When we turned on the bathroom tub facets the water coming out of the facets was brown my kids starting screaming! Since my husband is from NY he said this happens when you don’t turn on
the water for sometime. The bathroom vents were full of mold, the mirrors chipped, the carpet in the bedroom was dirty & worn down & ripped as if it was a worn carpet from the 80s. The sheets were stained & when they changed them the new sets were stained as well, all of there linens are stained with rust stains. The towels all smell as when a dryer is burning the clothes. The drinking glasses in the room were dirty lipstick on them! We checked for bed bugs thankfully they passed as finding a hotel in NYC during the week of New Years is almost impossible as most were full (I called other 4-5 star hotels in the area). I made the mistake of believing the Google reviews. This not a 3 star hotel I would say they are 2 star if that. I never stay in a hotel under 4 star for leisure but since I do travel for business and have had good experienced with the M Courtyards we opted to be away from the noise and crowds of the city & stay on the upper east side (note this property is at the very end of the upper east not I’m the enter if it as we expected). The entire hotel is poorly managed the hotel is falling apart: from the elevators, hallways to the hotel rooms. The hotel is dirty, an old structure that is well maintained can be quaint. Holes in walls, torn carpets, mold in vents etc. are just poor management. Marriott needs to perform inspections on the franchised properties to ensure all owners are meeting the Marriott brand of standards. Completely unacceptable our family had a horrible stay! Management could care less they just want to generate income without reinvesting into the structure. Note we reported most of the problems but were told the entire hotel was fully booked that our room
could not be changed. I am quite certain all of the Rooms in that hotel are falling apart. If you are use to nice hotels & travel often you know the standards of what to expect courtyards are not Ritz Carltons but usually are clean & practical. This hotel did not even meet basic standards of a Marriott Courtyard! This review if for the Courtyard Marriott on the Upper East Side perhaps other Courtyards in NYC are managed by a different team/owner and perhaps are in better condition.

WOW! This is the best hotel I have every stayed at in 20 years! The staff are sincerely helpful, caring and demonstrate the highest level of customer service! Willie Howard greet us every morning with outstanding genuine friendliness and speedy checkout and wishing us a good day. His calm personality was always comforting and sincere. Yenny and Kareem were also fantastic and helped us during our stay. We had to check out before our original departure and everyone said that was very fine. The housekeeping and maintenance were also
extremely helpful and always asked to help! Thank you!

I have been trying really hard to give this place a chance since it belongs to Marriott chain but my disappointment every time is bigger to a point that I will never go back there again. I’m a Titanium member and this fact is never appreciated in a sense that I never get any complimentary upgrade even though the suites were available. The front desk assistant basically blew me away and gave me a lousy small room.
On top of that, when I booked it via the BonVoy App, I was supposed to get a $250 registration discount...it never happened and they charged me a full price!
It took a mechanic an hour to come and fix the TV that never worked and the manager never called me back in the morning, per my request. To top it all it’s a filthy place and I will never return,

Overall this property was OK. Underwhelming in many aspects especially upkeep of the rooms! My adult daughter and I try to visit NYC a couple times a year and stay in a different neighborhood each time. We have never stayed up here and were a bit concerned about being disconnected because it is 92nd and 1st Ave. But the location except for the long walk to the subway was actually our favorite. There is a lot of places to eat and shop and it’s quiet but does not take away from the NYC vibe that we love. However the hotel needs much improvement as one reviewer stated how the slow the elevator is. We were on 14th floor. And if you’re in a hurry stay on a lower floor. Also upon entering our room we found no soaps at all. Luckily housekeeping was on the floor and she didn’t realize it was empty. OK. Maybe she would have noticed had she actually cleaned the bathroom. Sorry. No pics. But there was a lot of hair that was not ours that she cleaned up. The fixtures throughout the room need a lot of attention. There was a stain on one of the lamps. Chipping wood and paint on door frames. The fridge cabinet door was hanging basically by one hinge. Overall just not what someone would expect in a normally $350 a night hotel. Luckily I was able to use my government discount and got the room for $220 a night but is still a lot for the lack of cleaning and attention the rooms need. We did not complain to the front desk as I wasn’t disgusted with the room. This is really just for anyone looking to stay here so they are aware. I hope these issues get resolved because as a Bonvoy Silver Elite member I would like to stay at this location again

Marriott is our preferred hotel & this one does not disappoint. Stayed on 12th floor and had a great view of city. Clean room, friendly staff, great fitness center. Stop by the Blue Moon bodega across 1st street. You can get - 2 large coffee & 2 egg sandwiches for $9.00. Also pizza place at 92nd & 2nd was delicious. Plenty of Asian food too. 2nd street subway an easy walk from hotel & easy access to LaGuardia airport.

The location worked well for my purposes in NYC, but the overall experience of staying here was just this side of depressing. I splurged and booked a corner room, but the room still seemed dark and was filled with nicked woodwork and stained upholstery. It took three days of misinformation from the reception staff and promises to send an engineer to address the Arctic temperature in the room and my inability to turn off the a/c before an engineer finally did show up and tell me that there was no way to turn off the a/c in a corner room. I barely slept the first few nights due to a throbbing motor noise; the only reception staff person who was actually helpful assisted me in changing rooms. There was no attempt at any sort of COVID safety protocols, and this at a time when a new variant was surging in NYC.

Absolutely terrible experience.

I checked into the Marriott hotel on the upper east side and checked out within the hour. Upon arrival, I found a hair in the bed sheets. I called the front desk and they sent a cleaning person up with new linens. I showed the cleaning person the hair on the sheets and he told me “no it is clean” and had me pick the hair off the sheets myself with a tissue.

It was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.

Twenty minutes later, while I was sitting on the bed, an adult bed bug walked right next to me and startled me in bed.

I jumped up immediately and killed it and contacted the front desk to ask for management to meet me in the room as soon as possible. They told me management was not at the hotel and that they would send up security. I waited for over ten minutes and no one ever came up to the room.

I went down to the front desk promptly after realizing no “security” was coming upstairs to validate what I had just saw with my own eyes so I made sure to take a photo.

I told the extremely rude lady at the front desk that there was a bed bug on the bed that I had killed and I had left it on the sheet for management or security to go and see.

I told her I would like a full refund and I would be checking out immediately - she could not have been more nonchalant about the entire incident and she told me I would have to wait until the morning to speak to a manager about a refund because management was not in the building.

After calling management, they informed me that “they went upstairs to the room and found no bed bugs” despite me leaving a dead bug directly in viewing sight on the bed.

The grime and bed bugs and stench are absolutely enough evidence to appropriately rate this hotel a zero out of five stars. Marriott is still declining my request for a refund.

Stay far away. Completely unacceptable.
