Stayed here the other week for a week-long stay and it was a decent experience. Booked direct and my studio was available slightly before the posted check-in time. Arrived earlier in the afternoon, did a pre-check-in, and dropped off my luggage with the front desk. There was a security in the lobby... Elevators require a keycard to go up to the Suites. During the check-in process, there was no acknowledgement of status nor my 2 bottles of water... The Suite itself was spacious by NYC standards at 300+ sq feet. The bathroom was functional, although it could have used some deep cleaning at the bottom of the shower stall along with the baseboards... Water pressure was good. A handheld shower would have been good too. The mattress was on the softer side and was the lower end Bonnell spring where the entire mattress moves when one side of the mattress has motion. The sheets were comfortable though. The light comforter was sandwiched in between two flat sheets, which was interesting... The filter in the HVAC could be replaced as it was full of caked on dust... The A/C worked well though. The kitchen and closet doors needed some TLC as both the hinges and handles were pretty loose... As others had mentioned, the Suite was pretty well insulated from the outside street noise. However, the fridge was pretty noisy at night, along with the front door slamming from the other suites on my floor...bummer. Housekeeping was by request and they did a good job taking out the trash, replacing towels, and refilling toiletries. The kitchenette was fully stock with crockery although it was odd that there was only one pack of dishwashing detergent. There was manual dish washing liquid but no sponge to manually do dishes?!? There was a cart that was placed on my floor every morning with additional cups and coffee which was interesting. The cart disappeared by the afternoon daily. There is a coin laundry in the basement along with an internet cafe and gym as well. Breakfast was complimentary and changed daily with both hot and cold items. There were poly gloves available to wear when touching the communal utensils. Staff wore uniforms, name tags, and some even wore gloves. WiFi worked well and needed reauthorization every day or so. TV had numerous Business channels which was helpful to keep up with the markets.…
This hotel is in an excellent location between 8th and 9th Avenues and we were able to get a king room at a great rate. The rooms have mini-kitchens with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. (We stayed at the Marriott Marquis once, paid a ton more, and the room had nothing, not even a coffee maker!) This Homewood Suites room had great air quality and a fan above the bed. Clean washroom and shower. The hotel offers a breakfast option that I imagine is even better when there isn't a pandemic. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate is available all day. Also, I really appreciate the self-serve laundry facilities; ALL hotels should offer guests this option. BONUS: You can go to the hotel's wonderful rooftop with your own bevvy at night. What a terrific way to meet new people!
There is just one story I will share about this hotel. Shortly after arriving, I took out a small plastic bag with some regular bits I take with me when I travel either personally or on business. It contained an eclectic mix of items including tweezers, clippers, a waterproof phone case, a battery charger pack, some phone cables and a few other bits. I left it hanging from a door handle because the room was quite cluttered and I wanted to make sure it stayed readily in sight. The cleaner took the bag, and threw it away. It was nowhere near the garbage bin. It was not on the floor. It did not contain rubbish. I spoke to the hotel staff about this issue three times and their response was absolutely abysmal. There was no apology. There was no effort to replace or compensate me for the items. One young man working on the front desk essentially told me I was lying. The hotel's general manager, Jonathan Lomitola, was apparently told but made no effort to contact me. I have travelled a fair bit, and no hotel staff member has ever stolen my property before. But - more importantly - I have never seen such a shockingly awful response from a hotel in terms of customer service. Stay somewhere else. There are plenty of other options where hotel staff will not steal and then destroy your property.…
Wonderful staff, accommodations, breakfast. Large rooms, excellent customer service, Giovanni front desk, Miguel B. supervisor, dining staff so helpful and hard working. AT, manager, very professional also. Central hotel walking distance to everything! Will be back!!
Our overall stay was very good. Customer Service was great. Everyone we encountered was extremely nice. The A/C is our room didn’t seem to work at all times. Our room was hot and humid in the evenings, but the hallways and lobby were always nice and cool. Rooms were on the bigger size for NYC. The elevators could be a little slow in mornings, but I think that’s from everyone leaving around the same time. They were never a problem in the afternoon/evenings. The location is great for seeing the sites, but know that there is a lot of drug users on the street surrounding all the nice hotels. Not directly on property but you can’t walk down the sidewalk any which way without them laying or sitting in the street. Which can make you a bit uncomfortable walking with your kids. There is a housing works-Positive Health Project location right across the street, which I think attributes to the drug users along both sides of the street, since they offer a range of services to drug users. That is the main reason I dropped the rating down to a 4, although I know the hotel has no control over this, I wish the city could get this under control especially on streets with so many hotels and tourists. …
Everything about this hotel was wonderful - except the actual street it was on. I'm sorry to say this, as otherwise the accommodations were fantastic & so convenient to everywhere we wanted to be. I was with my teen daughter & she was shocked by the open drug use on the street. Each day, we crossed to the other side of the street (thru traffic, not at a crosswalk) to avoid certain areas of activity on our side of the street. I know there's nothing the hotel can do - & there are 2 other nice hotels on this same block. It's just really unfortunate.
Breakfast each morning was great! My daughter has celiac disease, so she has some specific dietary restrictions. Lizbeth (working in the breakfast area) was very helpful with what would and wouldn’t be safe for my daughter to eat. She even offered to get her some special bread from the kitchen! Very thankful for employees like Lizbeth who go out of their way to ensure my daughter could eat safely.
We have spent five incredible days at the hotel! The rooms are very clean and the best thing during our stay was the indredible service of the people. Always trying to help the guests. Special thanks to Valentin & Ana from the kitchen all the mornings we felt very welcomed during the breakfast time! We will come back again!
We travelled to New York City for a musical and ballet. Great weekend and this was a great hotel for the stay. I like the Homewood Suites brand by Hilton, so typically looks for one where I travel. This was a great location and an excellent hotel!! Great breakfast!!
The service is great, everyone is super nice, it’s a great location when it’s a hot or rainy day and you need to go inside. They are right next to an easy market. They have all the channels. The beds are the best and the cleaning people do a great job
