With the Marlton Hotel, located in the heart of Greenwich Village, comes the latest vision of Hotelier Sean MacPherson. This elegantly restored landmark building was formerly a home to famous artistic figures of the Bohemian and Beat movements, ‘most notably Jack Kerouac’. MacPherson redesigned the property by combining the original architecture with updated French influences for a look inspired by Paris and Greenwich Village history. This “baby grand” hotel guest rooms are charmingly petite yet grand in décor. Guest rooms feature herringbone wood floors, brass fixtures, crown moldings, and marble bathrooms. The ground floor of the property features a 100-seat restaurant with a coffee bar.

The Marlton Hotel garners acclaim for its immaculate upkeep, with guests highlighting the spotless rooms and marble-lined bathrooms. While the staff's friendliness receives praise, service experiences vary, with some visitors reporting a lack of attention. Opinions on value also differ; the clean rooms and quality food are appreciated, but critiques arise over room size and service issues. Nevertheless, the hotel's charming atmosphere and thoughtfully designed, albeit cozy, rooms are a hit. The location is a standout, with guests loving its closeness to Greenwich Village hotspots and transit.

The Marlton is right in the middle of Greenwich village and takes one back to era long gone. The highlight of this hotel is the lobby which is outfitted like a living room with a fireplace. I enjoyed an occasional cocktail cozied up to this fireplace.

My 'Full Room" was very much on the small side but the decor was exquisite with wood floors, brass fixtures and crown moldings. The bath was outfitted with marble accents, black and white floors and copper fixtures. Overall I felt crammed in this space.

Margaux is a smashing garden-like eatery with a menu inspired by French Mediterranean culinary traditions. This was a short visit for me and I was only able to partake of breakfast of the usual fare.

The Marlton is short on amenities lacking a spa, gym or other wellness facility.

So, if you want a hotel that takes you back in history and provides great access to the Village..........then try the.........Marlton........Back To The Future.

We loved it! We stayed for a week at Thanksgiving and our room was impeccably clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is so charming! I really do disagree with several of the reviews as we found it to be a great stay and a perfect location for us. Yes there is construction nearby (like a lot of NYC) so you may want to ask for a quiet room and bring earplugs if you want to sleep late on a weekday. We will definitely stay there again!

This was my 2nd time staying at The Marlton with my husband. 7 days sleeping there and we left feeling like we were leaving home. The staff was very nice and attentive. The rooms are small and we had big luggage but we unpacked and hung everything in the closet, and hid the suitcases under the bed. Walked everyday to washington square park which is only a block away. Even though its a very old hotel, everything is very clean and functioning. Very nice atmosphere and great experience. Love it here. 100% recommended!

First impressions are everything and from the moment I received a bag load of attitude at the check in desk I knew from experience that this was not going to end well.
For over 600 dollars per night this hotel offers no room service and no help with luggage. The guy that checked me in didn’t even bother to look at me and practically threw my room key at me. The rooms are clean and the decor is lovely but so small to the point that it was impossible to even open my case fully on the floor. My view was a brick wall generally the room was dark and depressing. I was Working late and by the time I got back to the hotel In the evenings I couldnt get so much as a tea. One evening after work I had to wait 20 minutes for my hotel room key as the receptionist was missing and no one else was willing to help. I had One complimentary bottle of water in my room and once that had gone that was that. Coffee in a morning isn’t available until 7am not good for anyone who has to go to work earlier than this and breakfast is at 8. There’s shampoo and conditioner in the room but bring your own shower gel as that wasn’t available either.
For around 650 dollars this hotel is a complete disgrace. It’s not a hotel it’s a hostel.

rooms are very tiny - this was a flophouse in the 1920s and nothing was done to change the room sizes. Room amenities refer to a bath in every room; but we only got a shower. Our room was right outside the housekeepers closet and we couldn't sleep at all with the door opening and slamming shut, walkie talkies and loud voices seemingly all hours. Wall are paper thin, you can hear people walking past. At over $350 a night, this hotel is not worth the money at all. Breakfast consists of muffins, croissants or yogurt.

Have just been staying here for 4 nights and really loved this place where we stayed!

Staff were very friendly, positive and helpful during our experience in this hotel with some incredible 30’s/40’s esque features with the dark wooden walls and golden parts around the lift etc! Wonderful!

Room where I was had a very comfortable bed and bathroom was extraordinary with the old fashioned black + white pallets and the golden handles from the sink + shower!

This hotel does have a quintessential feel for a proper NYC hotel and me and my uncle have really enjoyed staying at this fantastic hotel!

Would highly recommend!

Ridiculously tiny rooms, lacking basic amenities due to space.
Good location in Greenwich Village but lots of noise and no view.
Pristine bedding on a tiny ‘double’ but other elements of the room are worn.
Curtains frayed and stained.
Complimentary breakfast is very poor both in choice and quality.
Front desk at check in, were polite but somewhat apologetic regarding the room size.
These rooms were originally designed for single person occupancy and it shows.
When laying in bed like ‘canned sardines’ both my husband and I could easily touch the walls either side of the bed, absolutely ridiculous!
Greed reins at The Marlton.
Old style TV, no streaming and minimal channels.
So many better options around in New York.

We have stayed in the Marlton several times. Pre-COVID we enjoy the cozy bar, fireplace & lobby. Post COVID it is a bit of a concern for us. Rooms are very very small but extremely well equipped. The hotel has a great deal of warmth and character and is in an area with very few hotels on offer. Breakfast is included and is served in a pretty room with 3-4 well thought out offerings. We will definitely return.

I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay at The Marlton. The establishment is indeed very stylish and the lobby is hopping with activity, BUT, my appreciation of it ends there.

My room was tired - the drapery was faded and stained, the carpet was filthy and literally had human hair balls in it. There was also a coffee stain down the side of my bed. The bathroom was equally ill-kept: there was mold around the rim of the sink as well as in the shower tile grout. There were also finger prints on the ceiling and doors.

I complained late the evening of our arrival and did not receive a response until 1:30 the next afternoon. I was offered an upgrade which was appreciated but unhelpful as I was already uptown working and it was impossible for me to return to the hotel before that evening to pack my belongings for the move. The hotel offered no further compensation or apology gesture and they did not even make an effort to do a deep clean on my room when I was away from it.

Finally, I found the staff generally very ambivalent and indifferent. I realize its' been a tough go in hospitality for the past few years, so, a tired interior is forgivable but lack of hospitality and cleanliness are inexcusable. I cannot recommend this establishment.

Perfect little place! Reminded me of an auberge I’ve stayed at in France. My room was tiny but still have space for all of the necessities and I’ve become partial to micro hotels. The room was beautifully appointed. Everything is well worn showing good use but not in a dirty or unappealing way.

The staff was pleasant. The common space downstairs was perfect for different functions throughout the day. Couches and coffee tables or outdoor tables for their lovely morning coffee and pastries service, lots of tables for work during the day and cozy fireside settees for a glass of wine, small plates and reading or talking in the evening.
Location perfect. Half mile from the heart of the west village.
The bar food wasn’t that good, but I’m guessing that’s covid related (used to be a full kitchen, French restaurant, Margaux). There are so many amazing places to eat in the neighborhood, I wouldn’t let that stop me from staying there again—and I definitely will be.

The rooms are so tiny that there is no way you could put a coffee maker - however few NYC hotels have coffee makers in the room. Rooms are particularly small at the Marleton . We switched to the Washington Square hotel on a recent trip. - MUCH larger rooms but still coffee only in the lobby.

Beyond the bed there is no workspace. These rooms are really just for sleeping and then going out for the day. We had problems on Zoom but decided not to use our camera because it was weird on the bed and my husband didn’t have his background working - I just put up my background. Not a place to work from. No Fridge.
