The Best Western Premier Herald Square garners praise for its immaculate and cozy rooms, albeit some visitors mention they are on the smaller side for New York. The hotel's prime location is frequently celebrated, providing easy access to the city's attractions and subway. Guests commend the friendly and helpful service that enhances their experience. While the hotel's modern amenities and overall cleanliness contribute to a comfortable atmosphere, a few guests suggest updates are needed, especially with the lack of certain amenities like a laundry room.

We stayed in New York in November, the room had two French double beds, so not very big but still comfortable (they had the topper on the mattress).
The room itself is not very large but clean and suitable for a trip where in the end you spend little time in the room except for sleeping.
The location is very central and convenient (a stone's throw from Macy's and a few minutes from times Square), the metro is close as well as the main streets, although the street where it is located is quite quiet and very safe.
The staff is friendly and professional, a big credit to Mr. Patrick Patel at reception, always smiling and very courteous and nice.
Highly recommended to those looking for a hotel with good value for money and does not claim to have a multitude of services, we would definitely stay there again the location is really great.

I stayed at the best Western Herald Square the night before last and really enjoyed it. I booked online with Best Western and followed up with a call to ask a few questions. Khalid helped me and was super nice!

The location is perfect for Midtown Manhattan, on a quiet street right off Herald Square and close to Penn Station, making it an easy trip to either LGA or JFK via metro or LIRR. Shake Shack, Taco Bell, McDonald's, etc. are all close by, as well as Broadway Bites," a pedestrian area with various food trucks and tables in a leafy green setting. On the same street are several mid-range restaurants with outdoor seating.

The entry is modest, the lobby small, but pleasant. Laura at the front desk checked me in. I asked for a quiet room and she offered me a room on the 17th floor (1705) with a beautiful view of the Empire State building. Thanks, Laura!

The King room, while smallish (typical in NYC), is comfortable and updated, immaculately clean, with large flat screen TV, coffees/teas, good Wi-Fi, plush towels, good blow dryer, comfy linens and pillows, and room-darkening shades. As a Gold Rewards member, breakfast was included for me, otherwise it's $9.99.

Before leaving, I stopped into the bar and had a lovely time during happy hour there. Sergio, the awesome bartender, was welcoming and friendly, and beer/wine/well drinks were $4, $6, $7, respectively. I stopped by the front desk to retrieve my bag from storage and met Robert and the assistant general manager, Gehad, both of whom were warm and helpful. I can't say enough about the excellent customer service at this hotel. You will feel appreciated and welcome here!

An oasis in the bustling of Manhattan, this hotel is a jewel. Rooms are well appointed, attention to detail is obvious, from the ultra clean bath ( I'm a clean freak) , modern and functional, to the real tea bags with the coffee machine ( I like small touches) . It's also very quiet, from both street noise and adjacent rooms. And the midtown Herald Square location is a real asset..walk a few blocks to K-town for great food, wander up to Bryant park for an outdoor lunch on a nice day, or jump easily into every important subway connection and Path nearby on 34th street for easy inner city travel/connections. Staff is extremely friendly, hospitable , and efficient.. highly recommended.

Excellent visit! The moment we walked in we were treated with so much kindness and professionalism. We never even had to physically go to the desk. An extremely sweet young lady asked for our reservation name, snagged my ID and credit card. She came back, thanked me for being a Platinum Best Western member, gave us multiple floor/room options for our stay and checked us in. We arrived at 11:30am and were advised it would be about 1 hour before we could have room access. Our luggage was held free of charge (BW platinum reward perk) while we strolled Herald Square and Korea Town for lunch. It was an excellent check-in experience.

Our room was small but absolutely perfect for myself and my two daughters. We ended up choosing the 4th floor room at the back of the building where it was extremely quiet and cozy. This was more important than a view for us. We wanted to ensure we had good heat and a quiet space to rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. The shower was so spacious, had extremely great water pressure, fresh, clean and crisp towels, plenty of toiletries and clothes for use. Our beds were very comfortable, clean and crisp. Three pillows ok each bed which gave us girls 2 pillows each. Truly perfect. TV was excellent quality and easy to utilize. I missed having a mini fridge but understand that with being in midtown, small space has to be efficiently utilized.

Breakfast was included at no charge for us (BW platinum reward perk). We really enjoyed breakfast each morning at the hotel. Each day there was an assortment of potatoes, waffles, eggs, bacon or sausage, cereal, pastries, jams, jellies, fresh fruit and coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The breakfast space was overseen by a wonderful young lady. She was helpful and kept the space tidy each day. We were sure to leave her a tip several times.

The location of this hotel was PERFECT for us! We loved having quick access to anywhere in the city with the subway and bus lines. We loved the nearby food options and shopping. A quick walk to Bryant park and the NYCP Library were such perks! CVS, Starbucks, Tacombi, dispensary, gift shops and so much more. We had a blast sipping coffee and tea at the Herald Square park, it made for fabulous people watching.

Check out was a BREEZE! I would absolutely come back to enjoy this space at such a reasonable price. Being a BW reward member truly helped enhance our stay. 10 out of 10 recommend!

I stayed for 4 nights in the standard king bed room in November. I stayed by myself, therefore the room size worked fine for me. For 2 people it would still be more or less OK, I think.
Everything in the room worked properly – all the lights, fans, TV, switches, etc. Water pressure in the shower was OK. Wi-Fi was adequate for my needs (I didn’t stream movies). Everyone that I talked to was helpful and friendly. Keep in mind that space in the bathroom is very limited. There is barely any room to put toothbrushes or razor.
The housekeeping was ‘on demand’, meaning that you have to call a reception at the morning to arrange it.
I stayed Monday through Friday and was told that the breakfast would be available on Thursday and Friday only (as of November 2021). I ended up not trying it, I found a decent bagel place just next door and was getting my breakfast there.
Location wise, it is perfect. It is one and half blocks from North East entrance of 34th Street subway station, walkable distance to Times Square, etc.

Now, the reason for a poor review. The soundproofing simply does not exist. Ironically, there was no street noise coming in (my room was on the 8th floor). It was noise from the inside. I could hear everything and everyone. People in both adjacent rooms talking/walking/taking shower, room doors on my floor opening/closing, guests walking, guests talking, etc. It was super terrible. Fortunately I had ear plugs with me and they helped just a little bit.
I found a noise level unacceptable for a large Western chain property that claims to be 3 stars. It reminded me of the small bed and breakfast in Ollantaytambo noise wise. But what can be forgiven for rural Peru is not acceptable for a self-proclaimed 3 stars property in midtown Manhattan.

I didn’t want to sound negative. I really wanted to like this hotel, first and foremost because of the location. And the personnel was very friendly. I usually rate a hotel based on the fact whether I would stay there again or not. Unfortunately I have to say I would not stay here again. It is super noisy.

New York hotel rates are pretty wild compared to other cities for what you get. Rating a 4 because the location is pretty great to be able to walk to time square, the many stations penn or grand central with lots to see in between. The hotel staff are very nice. The room was small and the view was of an old rusty building rooftop- but its all you need for NYC however some cons. There was some red splatter on the wall- not sure if blood or some kind of food. The soap rack in the bathroom was completely rusty seems simple enough to change to make the bathroom appear less dated. I would stay again as it’s central to places but out of the main hustle and bustle. There is a vending machine in the basement but the options are pretty limited and quite expensive 2.50 for a soda and 2.50 for the tiniest bag of chips.

However, I sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with cleanliness and maintenance in your room, including the splatter on the wall and the rusty soap rack. Excellent location! This is a very small hotel but had everything I needed for a solo trip. Keep in mind that because there's not many rooms on each floor, all floors are near the elevator and I could hear the elevator doors from my room. I stayed in a room facing 36th street on the 13th floor so no spectacular view but I loved the large windows and the room was updated and clean!

Hi Leta_619, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We're delighted to hear that our hotel's location suited your needs and that you found your room updated and clean. It’s great to know that the large windows were a highlight of your stay—we love how they bring in natural light and offer a glimpse of the city! We appreciate your note about the elevator noise. Due to our boutique-style layout, some rooms are indeed closer to common areas, and we apologize if this impacted your stay. If you visit us again, we'd be happy to accommodate a room request in a quieter section of the hotel to ensure an even more comfortable experience. During my recent stay at the hotel, I was particularly impressed with the service provided by Yousuf Khan at the front desk. He was exceptionally helpful and made the check-in process swift and efficient, ensuring that we received our room without any hassle. Upon entering our hotel room, we were pleased to find that it was immaculate and well-maintained, which greatly enhanced our overall experience.

However, one aspect that I found disappointing was the absence of breakfast services. For travelers, having breakfast available can significantly enhance the stay, as it saves time and adds convenience to the morning routine. While this was a drawback, it did not overshadow the positive aspects of our visit.

The hotel's location is another significant advantage. It is conveniently situated near all the major attractions, making it easy for guests to explore the surrounding area without the need for extensive travel. This accessibility is a major plus for anyone looking to make the most of their time in the city.

In conclusion, despite the lack of breakfast options, my experience at the hotel was largely positive, thanks to the excellent service from Yousuf khan and staff the cleanliness of the room. I would recommend this hotel to others, especially for those who prioritize a good location and friendly staff when choosing their accommodations. Overall, it was a worthwhile stay, and I would consider returning in the future.

We traveled with family, 2 adults and 2 children and the room turned out to be small for everyone with 4 carry on, but it is a normal thing in this city when you do not want to spend much. The double beds are also small, 1.30 cm wide.. each. (Has no fridge)
The staff is very friendly, always attentive to what we needed without disturbing. Maid service must be ordered the night before. It has 2 elevators and they worked perfect. We never had to wait more than 1 min.
It has no breakfast with which we spent between usd35/50 per day for the 4. The area (near the Empire State and Times Square) is not very clean and during the week is quite noisy. I liked the hotel but with children I would only choose it again for a matter of budget.

I would have to say the room was typical NYC size. Not huge but then again not obnoxiously small either as some can be. You don't feel claustrophobic I have stayed there 2 or 3 times and I find the people very nice and the street is rather quiet at night.

Breakfast is not included in the room charge fee. Breakfast is $10.00 per person and is located in the basement, but the area is spacious and clean. Breakfast is from 6:00-10:00. My daughters and I requested to stay on the top floor (17th floor) and they assigned us room #1704. What an awesome view. The Empire State Building was just outside of our window (two blocks from the hotel) and was a beautiful view at night. Room #1704 did not have floor to glass windows, but you could open the small window to let in fresh air or we opened the window to get better picture shots of the Empire State Building. The hotel location was walking distance from Times Square and there are lots of places to eat and shop. If you book Hop-On-Hop-Off for your tours, you just have to walk two blocks to the Empire State Building for pickups. I will stay at this property the next time I'm in New York.
