Guests have praised the attentive and personal service, the quality of the restaurants and gym, and the overall enchanting atmosphere. However, some guests noted that the decor could be updated and that the value might not match the steep prices, given the outdated rooms and occasional lapses in cleanliness. I recently stayed at your hotel in June during my visit to the NYU Conference, and I wanted to share my wonderful experience.
The welcome amenity in my gorgeous suite was not only wonderful but also delicious. Every colleague I encountered was incredibly helpful, and the Concierge team went above and beyond in their efforts to find a particular Swatch watch for my nephew. Their dedication was truly appreciated.
The Asian noodle soup I ordered from room service was delicious and great value for money. Whenever I asked for advice or assistance, nothing was too much trouble for your team. Although I missed the entertainment in the Sky Lounge during brunch on Sunday, the music I heard sounded fantastic. The hotel’s prime location offers the best address in the city with stunning views of Central Park.
Many thanks for making my stay so memorable.

My experience here was excellent as always. The hotel is in a great location and the views can’t be beat!
I booked a Hudson View Room via FHR and was a big worried about the FHR perks based on reading prior reviews. I should not have been; they honored every single benefit! This was very important to me!
I can in off a red-eye and was able to get checked in at 8AM to the room that I booked and then was able to get upgraded one category to a Central Park View (room is a bit bigger as well) 4-5 hours later. Truly great service by the front desk.
The breakfast credit is $82 for the room and can be used for in room dining. The menu is a bit expensive but the in room dining service is excellent and very attentive!
Bellmen and doormen are great and very helpful.
The pool is amazing and in my opinion unmatched in NYC. The pool attendants take pride in their work and are very pleasant to talk to.
Whenever I find myself in NYC, this is my go to hotel.

If you have experienced a mandarin oriental hotel before and you think this will be on the same standard, you are making a very expensive mistake.
The only reason this hotel is still open is the location, the views of central park are indeed amazing and you can walk to all central points of interest, but that is as far as the good goes.
The bad and the terrible:
The concierge service: i approached the concierge 5 times and the standard answer was literally "i don't know", the highlight of the terrible service was recommending a steakhouse that served no steaks.
The breakfast lounge: once you have enjoyed the views and need to actually get some food the appeal ends, very limited choices, very basic cooking. What was particularly offensive was how dirty the tables, carpets and even chairs were, i had to literally clean my seat of crumbs and leftovers while the staff looked at me and offer no help. From there onwards i couldn't stop thinking that if the front is dirty imagine the back...
The room: we booked a large corner room on the top floor, the size and views were amazing. Then it all went downhill, the furniture was old and full of nicks and stains, the carpets are probably the originals from 20 years ago, i opened a window and the dust and spiders that came out scared me into asking the staff to open it. The bed sheets had yellow stains and so did the towels. The amount of dust under the furniture and around the windows, doors, light fittings was clear evidence that housekeeping had not done a full cleaning in a very long time.
What really pushed me over the top was that when my wife complained the service actually went from bad to worst... The room was cleaned but amenities stoped being re filled, towels disappeared, water bottle reduced to half and in general we felt like we were punished for complaining.
I couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone... If i was offered to stay there for free i would skip it!
This hotel offers location and location only, if you are looking for anything else in your experience stay as far away as possible, you can always go for a drink at the lounge and enjoy the views without spending thousands of dollars in mediocre rooms and service.

We were provided with the most amazing experience for my birthday, from a very pleasant welcome from Jonathan, to Olis C. unexpectedly upgrading us to a gorgeous suite, to Yarisol providing champagne and a gluten-free bday cake to James being very accommodating and helping us plan our spa visit. The in-room dining representatives were sensitive to my gluten allergy and provided delicious alternatives. Our stay exceeded our expectations in every way! I'm still on cloud nine!

I stayed in the Mandarin Oriental in New York with my partner in November. We stayed in one of the suites, which was really specious and beautifully decorated with spectacular views of New York, in each room we had a different view, my favourite was the view from the bedroom where we could see Central Park. In addition, I also found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to be attentive and helpful to guests as well as having great knowledge and suggestions of New York and for places to visit. Lastly, the hotel’s location is also great and local to a lot of great attractions. I would recommend this hotel for a variety of reasons and I would come back here.

The service and location are 5 stars but the rooms desperately need an update. I could feel springs in my mattress, there's no coffee machine in room and the furniture is generally scratched and dated. However the service from the concierge helping with restaurant reservations months before we arrived to the moment we checked out was EXCELLENT and you cannot beat the location at Columbus Circle. This will be the best hotel in NYC when they finally renovate their guest rooms.

MO in New York is located across from the Central Park and next to a shopping mall. Within minutes of walking distance there are a lot of restaurant selections. Excellent location. Checked in at around 9:30 preparing for luggage storage because I booked the 11:00 reservation at MET museum. Check-in was very fast and the staff was very efficient. She also invited me to join the breakfast at the Lounge. The Maître D' didn't see that we were there first and seated the only empty window seats to the couple behind us, but promised that when there was window seats open, would change our seat. However, he forgot to do that. We had to ask a waiter to change to the window seat when that couple left. The food in the Lounge is average compared to other MOs; maybe it is because the food service is limited after reopening. Meanwhile, our room was ready within half an hour and all the luggages were sent to the room already. Excellent service! The upgraded room is clean but lacks a coffee machine. The refrigerator is full of drinks on automatic mode: if the door is not close within 30 seconds, guest will be charged. There is no room for drinks that brought by the guests. Compared to other MOs in China, this MO does not have an executive lounge, therefore it does not have an option to book the executive rooms with lounge access. Because of the pandemic, restaurants are not fully opened. It is already very good because the Spa, the gym and pool are open, not many New York hotels are able to do that. Like other MOs, daily house keeping includes cleaning in the morning and turndown service in the evening. It is the familiar "Jasmin" music played on the TV that always reminded me that I am in my very favorite hotel. House keepers are also attend to details like other MOs. Cables of chargers would be tied together and well organized; bath salt would always be replaced when it was used. When meeting a house keeper in the hallway, she could always call me by my last name...this is how MO is unique and why I love MO! It reminds me that when I stayed in MO Shanghai, even Mr. Clements Hoerth, the general manager, would recognize me and called my name. It is simply amazing.

Deeply disappointing experience, starting from check in. Staff who have “never seen the gym” so couldn’t comment what it has, to a Fans of MO room upgrade that “is not available” (but I see on the website I can book the next category up?), breakfast maître d’ sniffling and sneezing with zero interest and telling me to “sit over there and wait” (5 mins) because no one was available to clear a table at 10:30am (do it yourself?). An excellent concierge desk, bellhops, and gym attendant sadly can’t make up for the other staff for whom any request is too much effort and takes far too long.
The beds are quite firm but linen is nice. Bathrooms are spacious and amenities excellent but the shower nozzles are poorly labelled and hot water takes a while to arrive. You must ask for a Nespresso machine in the room.
The Central Park views are INCREDIBLE.
The prices on the website hid the actual room cost including taxes, neglected to mention “breakfast included” actually means a daily credit ($41) that doesn’t cover a single food dish + a coffee! I decided to make coffee in my room and was charged $7 for the milk. It would make for a splendid comedy if it wasn’t supposed to be a five star hotel.
Overall a very poor experience. The tackiness and conniving pricing I’d expect of a lower brand, the unhelpfulness and poor attitude of staff I might expect of your average Eastern European B&B, but with the views of heaven. I would accept such outcomes at a price point 30% lower, but this was not the standard I thought I paid for.

Amazing rooms and great customer service provided by staff. The room was turned down every time we left and attention to detail was great. The banquet room rented for the company party was very festive and no detail was forgotten in regards to food, drinks or decorations.
