I had an absolutely wonderful experience at New York Spirit Retreats! The location is unbeatable—just a 3-minute walk from Penn Station, which made it incredibly easy to explore all of Midtown Manhattan. Whether I was heading to the Empire State Building, Times Square, or the Theater District, everything is within walking distance.
The hostel itself is cozy and comfortable. The room was compact but perfect for a solo traveler like myself, and I appreciated the open ceiling concept that really gave it a unique hostel atmosphere. The shared bathrooms were always clean, and the availability of a 24/7 complimentary breakfast station was a great perk. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially Mr. Sunny as he was always on hand to assist with any questions or needs.
Overall, New York Spirit Retreats offers fantastic value for money—especially given its prime location and the amenities provided. If you’re looking for an affordable, safe, and comfortable place to stay in NYC, I highly recommend it!

It was a pleasant surprise to have a clean and comfortable night in such a convenient location at such a low price. The room was small, but well laid out, with a lamp and 2 charging plugs at the front of the bed. There was space for luggage under the bed, and also above, enough for 2 large 28" suitcases, a smaller one, and a bag (but lacking the space to open them up, so do a plan). There was wifi, a very-small table, a mirror, and surprisingly, a small table for a laptop on the bed! All in all, it was obvious that the room was well-designed. Of course, the bathrooms and toilets were shared, but there was almost no queuing, hot water was available even at 3 am, and you can ask for a new bath towel from the staff any time! (yes, 24h) Since the rooms are interconnected at the top (sharing air-conditioning, plenty of cold air), loud talking was not allowed after 9 pm. There are communal reading tables with sockets for laptop, and I personally recommend the top floor breakfast area, the table is wider. There is also a small fridge you can use there. Although I saw a number of people leaving their luggage in the corridor, I recommend locking the door properly. By the way, the manager is a vegetarian, so do not bring meat products into the room.

Location, nice service, all day vegetarian breakfast. For me, as a solo and light traveler, works like a charm, the staff is nice and always welcoming to attend any request. I must say that he spaces are tiny, anyone taller than 6ft could find it uncomfortable. Again, if you’re a solo traveler that only needs a place with great location, a safe space to sleep and take a shower, this is the place to be

It was a comfortable stay , with host available 24 hours. The location is close to Penn station and commuting to other places in New York is cheap and easy. The location on the 4th floor is challenging but someone or the other is always around to help with luggage. I shall recommend this to solo travelers.

A perfect and precise place for solo travelers, very good bathroom cleanliness, excellent location. They offer a wonderful homemade breakfast and those who work there are very friendly and attentive. I would not recommend it for light sleepers, because they are rooms with a shared roof.

I had a very excellent stay in this residence. To begin with, the place has an unbeatable location within walking distance of all the attractions of Manhattan. Ravindra's treatment was very friendly, he was always attentive to my needs. It is worth highlighting the breakfast they provide, which is very complete and with many vegetarian options. Unfortunately, I was not able to meet Alfred in person, but he always made sure to write to me to ask if I was comfortable and if there was anything I could help him with. As for the silence rules of the place, the first day was difficult for me, but on the second day I was able to adapt quickly and understood how valuable silence is in an establishment with so many people. I highly recommend this place, I would return if I return to NY.

One of the best hostel experiences I've ever had as a single-traveler ever!! Aside from the convenient location right in the center of Manhattan, what really made my stay memorable is that the serving host Ravindra is also incredibly nice and welcoming, and treats all guests wholeheartedly like family. There are free snacks and drinks provided 24/7. The rooms are small and cozy, and the communal space is a great place for everyone to relax and bond with other travelers. Would definitely recommend all solo tourists to stay here!

This hostel is a hidden gem, just a few blocks from Penn Station. The staff was exceptionally friendly, the room was very affordable, a healthy, vegetarian breakfast was served each morning, and everything was impeccably clean. Just beware that it is on the fourth floor with no elevator, but you get used to it. I would stay here again and will recommend it to anyone looking for an affair or, safe, clean place to stay in Manhattan.

This is a great place to stay. It feels very safe for anyone . I was pleased by the friendly and helpful staff. The place offers cute little clean and private rooms. The room includes free wifi and a great vegetarian breakfast of fruit muffins and delicious coffee and a few other things. The bathrooms are quite small but they get the job done.
