Hotel's Favorite
Excellent location, service and breakfast. Elevators are not synched very well, and wait times can be long when hotel is busy. Very close to subway, highline, Chelsea Market, and other landmarks. Lots of good restaurants close by, but better ones require reservations.

Biggest drawback of this hotel is that there was no storage space and room was very compact. We had to live out of our suitcase for a week. This was really disappointing and really put a dampener on the stay

As soon as we arrived, we found a very disappointing check in service. The receptionist was dreadful, arrogant and lazy. Not a single smile after 9h of flight. She wanted to end the check in as fast as possible. Since we were tired we did everything she said without arguing, except noticing, once returned in Italy that we were charged 900€ more than expected. The room is extremely small, but with a nice view. Breakfast was meh. Not going to come back here.

Positives clean good location, extremely comfortable if not small beds. Kettle in room. Great view from 32nd floor. Nice bar poor mojito cocktail tasted like soda water, no evidence of rum the tiniest sprig of mint and a slice lime not muddled no sugar no crushed ice?? Rooms too small for 4 even if it was a young family. Bathroom absolutely no privacy sliding door with gaps either side. Very ltd storage. Chaotic breakfast room not big enough, replenishment too slow. Only 4 lifts for 45 floors we had to walk down 31flights several times

The hotel is 42 floors, approx 8-10 rooms per floor, so 15 to 20 guests per floor, that’s 600-800 guests, there are only 4 lifts…. And all these guests get a complimentary breakfast. What disaster! We never used the lift going down, every morning we walked down 30 flights of stairs to the a brawl in the tiny breakfast area. No where to sit, some of my family stood when we had breakfast. Scrambled egg and potatoes dry and tasteless, I don’t know what was in the varied shapes of meat they served, tasted disgusting though. They never had 2% milk the whole 6 days I was there (preferred in my take out coffee). And on 2 occasions no milk at all. The salt and pepper tray only ever had pepper, they frequently ran out of cutlery and plates, the bread was stale but at least you could toast it, the butter had loads of sugar in it, and when you finished you added you plate to the overflowing buckets and dropped left of food and drink in a disgusting bucket. We ate in twice, brought our own food twice and gave up in the end, and ate out twice, I just grabbed my coffee. Absolutely shambolic, disgusting, really tarnished the Hyatt name for me……

Overall it was a experience. The Hotel was as always nice I love Hyatt Place other then this room was very small , for it to have a sleeper sofa. I wll always stay at Hyatt Place or Hyatt House. The Hyatt in Dulles is so much better they had a very much more space in the rooms.

Our stay at the Hyatt Place New York Chelsea has been nothing but wonderful. All staff have been so helpful and kind, but what has stood out the most is the service we received from Kevin up at the Placery. Sorry, Hyatt, but your facilities and service need a major upgrade. I had high expectations for this hotel as Chelsea is a dream location - it’s a 5 minute walk to several subway lines. Breakfast was a bit of a mess, but hotel breakfast people are the worst — it’s like everyone scavenges all the food as if it will run out. Not sure why it’s like this but I really find it unpleasant. Pro tip - join Hyatt rewards and you can have breakfast on the 2nd floor and enjoy a much more pleasant experience (the food buffet is behind the elevators.) Despite this, the views and staff were fine. However, they lost several stars for the elevators- which is not only a convenience but a safe issue as well. The worst was that only one of the four elevators was working. We had to walk down 35 flights of stairs after waiting over 20 min for an elevator to get down. The next day it was even worse because we had luggage and my husband had to walk down 35 flights of stairs with his suitcase. This is totally inappropriate and unacceptable. The view was spectacular, so I added a star. The room was probably the smallest I’ve been in (except for Japan) so plan luggage accordingly. In spite of the location, the elevator situation really left me with a bad taste for this hotel. Would not recommend unless you were on a lower floor and planned on taking the stairs. …
