A beautiful hotel in Midtown, close to Bryant Park and a few minutes walk from Times Square and Rockerfeller. The styling of the hotel is stunning and the room had the most comfortable mattress. The rooms are a good size, better than I’ve had in NY previously, with sound proofing to block out the city noise. The service we experienced was really good with reception being extremely friendly and concierge doing all they could to help. We had room service breakfast each day of our 5 night stay. The room service team were outstanding and there was one lady in particular who made our day each morning. I sadly can’t remember her name but she was so happy and positive. Breakfast came within 10-15 minutes of ordering and set us up well for a day in New York, the coffee was fab! I would highly recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to go back…

Hotel's Favorite
Great location, great service, quiet elegance. And really, really comfortable beds. I highly recommend their loyalty program, even if you don’t stay at Accor hotels that often (it is primarily a European chain). They have special member rates and last minute discount upgrade options.

Very tired hotel, room shabby with some damaged features. No tea or coffee making facilities. One small bar, restaurant with ridiculous opening hours. Prices completely over the top. No other hotel amenities. Staff disinterested at reception, waiters friendly, Over all a totally underwhelming experience and not what I expect or usually experience with Sofitel. Location is only good aspect.

Our team usually takes pride in attention to detail, so hearing some features could have been overlooked is disappointing. We understand the desire for in-room tea and coffee facilities and regret any inconvenience. I spent a week at the Sofitel Hotel in mid-October. I was fortunate to be in a suite on a high floor (27th) which had great views. The layout of the suite was excellent, with a sitting room and bedroom separated by sliding doors. The bathroom was accessible from both parts of the suite. The hotel staff were uniformly excellent.

This is a fine hotel located on a quiet stretch of 44th Street in Midtown East. The location is great-Times Square and Grand Central are each an easy walk from the Sofitel. My room was modern, comfortable and reasonably spacious, with a strong wifi signal and ample work space. The bathroom was good sized as well, which is often not the case in New York.

There are so many fabulous things about this hotel. First of all the staff- far and beyond the best staff ever from the doormen, check in, housekeeping and restaurant staff- they go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. Secondly, you could not ask for a better location. Easy walking distance to wherever you want to go. Lastly, the rooms are fairly small but the linens and bath accessories make it perfect. We had an issue with our toilet and maintenance was there in less than five minutes to fix it. I highly recommend the Sofitel for your next NYC trip - you won’t be sorry.

We had a 5 star experience at the Sofitel during our 2 night stay. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the more recent reviews but our experience was only positive. Check-in was fast and professional, our king standard room was clean, well appointed and in excellent shape, the bathroom felt modern and luxurious and the beds were SUPER comfortable. I didn’t see any evidence of shabbiness or being in bed of a remodel. Not at all. Our room was blessedly quiet - some people complained of super thin walls but we didn’t hear anything and we know that the hotel was at capacity for both nights. As others have noted, the location can’t be beat - in spite of being a 10 minute walk to Times Square and most of the theaters, the hotel is on a very quiet street. And finally, every hotel employee with whom we interacted was friendly, extremely professional and helpful. All in all a great experience and we would gladly stay here again on future trips - the Sofitel is our new favorite NYC hotel.…

Hotel staff is incredibly rude and inconsiderate to their paying customers. Last night I checked into the NY location at about 6:30 pm. I was quickly pulled to the side and told that I did not have a room since they were over booked. I booked this room weeks in advance: so how is that possible? I was escorted swiftly out of the hotel swifly, without a chance to even absorb what was happening. They put a letter in my hand and told me I might have a room at another hotel (might?). Zero compassion or empathy on their part, whatsoever. Their only concern was to get me out of their lobby. Staff and management were horrible and I will never go back. They really don't care about their customers and when something goes wrong, you are on your own. Again, worst customer service I have ever experienced. …

Lousy service especially at reception. We booked a room for 3 people with nice city view but were given a small room for 2 instead, where you could not walk around with the extra bed. We were not even able to reach the window in the corner so had to forget about the view. During our 5 days stay they did not make a single effort to give us a proper accommodation and made us feel like we were the annoying ones. Also note that this hotel has no proper lounge or bar to relax beside the few armchairs in the entrance.

I have already stayed several times at the Sofitel New York. It is one of the hotels I would return any time, although the hotel is not the newwest one any more. But having stayed in several hotels in New York, this is definitly one of the best. The lobby offers fresh flowers and the rooms are clean and comfortable, especially the bathroom is better than what I have had in other hotels with the same category. Unfortunately the reception needs upgrade in personal and processes. Long waiting times for check-in and check-out and only partly qualified personell which additionally seems to be stressed and not very wellcoming.
