On booking I believed I was booking a 4 star hotel. It’s was my first time in New York but I’ve stayed in many 4/5 star hotels. Trust me, this was not one of them I think that the whole place is in need f a upgrade. The decor is tatty un looking tired. There was no drink making facilities in the room. I don’t know about you but I like a drink when I wake up. There are plenty of places nearby to get anything you want, or go down to the foyer and buy a drink and pastry. But when I wake up I want to chill with a cuppa. That’s a negative. The other negative was that my room was at the back of the hotel with a great view of a wall and windows looking in !!! And the noise in my room was like a tube station. So noisy On the positive side, adequate toiletries and towels are provided. A basic hairdryer and iron. Also all the theatres and Times Square are in walking distance. The hop on hop of bus is a must to see the city with the bus stop next block along.

We spent 4 nights in the Row Hotel for a NYC break, and were delighted with what Row offered. Point of our visit was to sight see, see a show, enjoy the NYC atmosphere and Row hotel provided the perfect location to base it on. Check in was quick and friendly, our room was facing Times Sq so had a great view from 23rd floor. The extra service charge was a bit steep, but that is a NYC thing as well.. Great Staff and perfect for our trip.

What a rip off! They insisted we had to pay their ‘facilities fee’ of $40 per room per night so things we did not want and would not use eg free local calls and a pathetic water pouch worth not even a $1. Even though I had paid in full for the rooms through a travel agent, they would not let me check in until I had paid this “facilities fee” in advance - so our stay cost me an additional $240 for 3 nights. Absolute rip off. The bath room is tiny - to sit on the toilet your knees are virtually around your ears. Every pillow was a feather pillow - completely useless if, like me, you are allergic to pillows. Not come across another hotel in the last 20 years with only feather pillows. Air conditioning unit sounds like a freight train. Unbelievably noisy. You can only use 1 specific lift to your floor - so long wait for the lift. Only positives - good location and it was clean. They did change the feather pillows but gave me instead the most pathetic saggy foam pillows ever. Welcome to New York - NOT! I would never stay here again!

Not really happy with this hotel besides the location. It’s always extremely crowded, service is lacking. The rooms are tiny and dated. I wasn’t expecting the St. Regis but damn. Can’t ever get ahold of anyone and also they attempted to charge me daily even though my room was prepaid and I paid the incidental hold and resort fee up front. Literally every morning I woke up to an attempted charge Luckily I locked my card so the charges didn’t go through. But what if they had? All the staff would have said what that it was a hold and would fall off which is fine but that still takes away from my available funds while I’m out of town. That can create a horrible situation for someone on vacation needing access to their money Whatever system allows did this needs to be fixed. That’s not ok. Additionally I called for a hour all morning and no one answered the phone. The resort fee is also ridiculous and in my opinion a way to fleece guests. I never used the gym. Barely had housekeeping. A resort fee of about $20 would have been more acceptable at an establishment on this level. Staff is also sort of rude and short with people. I wouldn’t stay here again. The room is the size of a broom closet. I guess that’s typical for nyc though. I honestly want a nights refund for the lack in service.

Stayed 4 nights in September while attending a well known rock band's 50'th anniversary shows at a venue very close by. This was my first visit to NYC. Hotel is well situated on 8'th Avenue, very close to Times Square and 42'nd street. Check in was OK, no problems encountered, although lobby did smell somewhat unpleasant at times. I was given a floor on room 17, looking north along 8'th Avenue towards Central Park. At night with the lights and traffic, the view was pretty amazing. Room was OK, no complaints, not the biggest of rooms but I have had much smaller rooms in London. Bathroom was small and a little cramped however the shower worked well. Interesting system regarding the lifts, but it mostly worked well. Why only 3 stars? Simple - price. I paid $350 a night for the room - equivalent to £1200 when I received my credit card bill. No way the hotel is actually worth this.

The check in line was about 40 minutes long. The line kept getting interrupted by previous people that checked in and their keys didn't work. We get our room key and go up to our room...only to go in and it is a MESS. Alcohol bottles everywhere, towels on the floor, it's disgusting. We go back down to the desk to get a new room...the outlets don't work, the TV doesn't work, and all of the furniture needed to be replaced. It could have been worse, but I will never stay here again. Spend a little extra money to find a more comfortable hotel.

First impressions were good, great location and it is nice in the lobby. We were on the 23rd floor, it smelt a tad musty, but the murals and faded light created a NY street vibe, which was good. However, the room was a little scruffy. There were some issues. Safety deposit box didn’t work and we had to wait 40 mins despite calls to the front desk, it was sorted and those we dealt with were polite, just be quicker and keep us informed. Shower curtain was short, so bathroom floor got soaked each time we showered. Towels were used to mop up. When busy the elevators are an experience; elbows out for the queue busters! Next day, aside from the normal flood around the shower, another one appeared by the toilet, it wasn’t man miss either, it was the shower. Last day and getting ready to check out my partner showered, the floor got completely flooded. Towels were used to soak up and squeeze in to shower tray. My turn to shower - a toilet flush next door, a gurgle, and the drains, including faeces burst into the shower tray. Contacted front desk and we were put through to a Manager, he was helpful and sorted a room for us to transfer to, so we could finish getting ready. In this room the shower ran cold, and the light switch was missing exposing electrical cables. Finally, the guys who stored our luggage were very nice but, don’t expect a tip until you have delivered a service. We enjoyed our NY trip but, on this occasion, we were unlucky with the hotel, pity as it has potential.

Me and my partner have just got back from our holiday in NYC and everything was perfect apart from the hotel! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for several reasons. When we arrived at the hotel it took them 15/20 minutes to find us a room and the room they put is in was right behind the lifts and we could hear the lifts going up and down all night and didn’t get a wink of sleep and the room was so small! We were told by the employee who checked us is that we could potentially hear them but she wasn’t clear on how loud it would actually be. We were told that we could swap rooms the next day after 4pm, so the next day we done this and we were given another room. This room was okay, until I got in the shower and the plaster at the top of the shower was coming away from the wall and the water was leaking from the bath and the shower. So myself and my partner went to complain to a manager and the only rooms they had were by a lift or a twin room. After us raising the fact that we had paid for a double room the manager told us we could swap rooms again the next day but we didn’t want to unpack and pack again so we took the twin room. This nearly ruined our holiday as we had to complain several times and the manager of the hotel was useless and didn’t really do anything to make up for this.

I got the most basic room because I knew I wouldn't be in it much. It was a lower floor facing Times Square but not much of a view. It was small but clean, very comfortable bed and great shower/bath. There was some noise from the elevators and the construction, but nothing major during the night. Also, the elevators were not an issue except once when a larger group checked in - the rest of the time was just a couple minutes wait. Loved that I was able to check in early also. The staff is amazing and the location is fabulous - so close to everything. Would definitely recommend.

Don’t believe all the negative reviews. My and my friend were a bit apprehensive after seeing what people were saying but we enjoyed our stay. We upgraded to a city view room, we were impressed with the size of the room, it had a big and very comfy king size bed and sufficient space for us to store two big suitcases. There was space in the wardrobe and draw space. The bathroom had a bath and shower. The maids kept the rooms clean and provided fresh towels. The location is amazing if you want to be close to Times Square and the theatres. The only issue we had was with noise from the streets but that’s going to be the case on any busy location. The corridors are quite dark and I don’t think the resort fee is necessarily for what you get. I would stay again.
