This is my 3rd stay here and all have been incident free. No maintenance issues everybody I’ve encountered on their staff has been very helpful courteous and professional.
It’s only a 15 minute walk or 5 minute ride to my mom in Harlem who I visit so the location is perfect for me. Uber ride is $9.
The breakfast food and bar food options are limited but Uber eats delivers from anywhere. They often have live music and the drinks at the bar are really good too.
There is lots of shopping available on 125th st right around the corner. The Apollo is nearby as well. There is a church next door with delicious home cooked food too and a corner deli that has snacks and sandwiches hot and cold.
I recommend it highly if you need to be in Harlem.

Really comfortable hotel. The room is big, decor is quit updated, the bed is really comfortable. The little vending space ate the lobby is very convenient. The gym is ok, nice equipments. I was there to attend a course at Columbia Business School, and the location was perfect, walking distance (about 15 min walk). Many options of public transport nearby (Subway A and C 1 block away, Subways 2 and 3 2 blocks away). Staff was really friendly and helpful. The only thing is that the shower pressure could be better, but that is just a detail.

I was very leery about booking this location because of some of the reviews. I’m also smart enough to know that some people have unreal expectations when traveling and staying in shared spaces.
With that being said I’m happy I chose this place primarily because of its location being near my mom in Harlem who I was visiting. We were two women traveling alone so I was not comfortable with an Airbnb for security primarily. I felt very safe here and had zero issues. The staff was always courteous and professional and very helpful.
Our room was directly across from the elevator and we only heard it if the TV was off.
Our room was very clean and housekeeping staff was very accommodating with extra towels. We did not eat anything but there is food available for sale. We used Uber eats delivery and ate at many different places. There are also restaurants up and down 125th street only 2 blocks away. Both chain and local cuisine available. There is a small refrigerator in the room and a microwave in the lobby for use. Free Ice is also provided in the lobby.
I’m so happy I booked here it was only a 15 minute walk to my mom and 4 minutes in an Uber. Lord Uber truly blessed us this trip only $8 each trip to moms was very affordable and never waited more than 3 minutes for a ride.
Took us to all the attractions we wanted to see as well as shopping. A great trip and I’ll definitely be booking here again real soon.

We arrived at ALoft Harlem on Saturday, July 27th, at 10:00 pm, only to be greeted by an extremely crowded and noisy event in the lobby, entrance, and even on the street. Upon reaching the reception, we were informed that our room was not ready and were given the option to either cancel our reservation without penalty or wait 1.5 hours for it to be cleaned. After waiting the full 1.5 hours, we were given a room that was half-cleaned and had a bad odor. Additionally, the safety box was not functioning.
To top off our frustration, aside from a simple apology, we were given a mere $20 voucher as compensation. The receptionist was shouting at everyone, adding to the unpleasant atmosphere.
The next day, when we returned to our room, we found that while the towels had been replaced, the room had not been cleaned and the bed was left unmade. Although the hotel is well-located, the service has been atrocious. The hallways also smell bad, contributing to an overall humiliating experience.
I do not recommend this hotel. Please do not come here.

Failed experience at A Loft hotel in Harlem. Came here to quarantine with my daughter for 4 days before her 2nd test before moving into her school dorm. Upon arrival, front desk reception staff either not wearing a mask or were wearing it below their nose for entire duration of our interaction with them. This behavior was observed every time I went down to the lobby to retrieve food delivery. Guest room 302 was not well cleaned. Carpet had crumbs or dirt on it, remote control was not in plastic bag signaling it has been disinfected (as I have seen at other hotels I have stayed at during the pandemic). On 1st day, housekeeping knocked on the door to clean room. I thought this wasn’t being done during the stay (per other hotels I have stayed in). Called guest services to suspend any room cleaning (since we are quarantining in room) only to have housekeeping knock again on day 3. Guests routinely not wearing masks in elevators, hallways, or lobby. Staff did not enforce. Although there are signs that say (only 2 in elevator and face coverings required) observed staff not correcting any guest who was non-compliant. Even observed staff member interacting in close range (within 1-2 feet) with guest and he was not wearing a mask, but guest was. This went on for over 5 minutes. The room had no windows to open (so no fresh air during quarantine). The HVAC system was only working if I wanted to turn on the heat (which made the room unbearable). When I tried to use the fan to circulate the air or turn on the air-conditioning to cool it down (we arrived and it was 77 degrees in the room) the fan pushed out warm air only and guest services said the air conditioning doesn’t work. There was nothing they could do, basically tough – sit in a stuffy overly heated room. Sliding door between toilet / shower space and vanity didn’t actually seal the space so if anyone was in the vanity space, they had a view into the toilet area. Tile used in bathroom area was outdoor brick tile that looked dirty. Room was not stocked with a compliment of towels. Missing wash cloths. Pictures on website are touched up and must be the very best rooms on the tallest floor. Room had one window, so it was dark. Countertop and leather round sitting stool both chipped with flaking bits of countertop and fake leather peeling off. I tried to locate the name and contact information of the hotel manager. What was posted on line was incorrect. I sent a complaint to the Marriott home site the evening I arrived. 3 days later, no response other than an auto generated complaint ID #.

Response from Jay Dean, General Manager at Aloft Harlem
Responded Jan 19, 2021
Dear Traveler Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns during your recent stay. It’s nice to hear good things and just as important to see where we need to improve. Behind the scene you may be surprised to learn that we have a tremendous amount of Covid protocols and staff training in place. Although we have signs on entrances and elevators about mask mandates we struggle with a few guests not wearing masks. Fortunately, we have free masks available and hand out them out to guests who forget to wear them. In addition, the lobby, elevator and public spaces are sanitized around the clock. All guest rooms touchpoints are sanitized after each check out. We don’t wrap remotes after their sanitized. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you the best way to solve issues is always to contact the manager on duty for an immediate response. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us during these unusual times Regards, JDean General Manager

The hotel was ok if you are looking for something reasonably priced with good snack options/ I'm a JW Marriott Employee and actually use to be a front office manager for the aloft location in Aventura Miami so I rarely write reviews I leave that stuff for regular guest however I had to bring up one of the staff members at this property in Harlem I Believe his name is Cedrick, he worked every night of my stay and I must say Hotels need more employees like him. He is so kind/informative/easy to talk too/ even my kids would look for him when we would arrive back to the hotel late at night. He is really awesome and gives the place a home feeling.
Good Job sir continue the great work!

The Aloft is a perfect hotel for a short visit to NYC. The rooms are quite large by New York standards, with surprising amounts of natural light. The bar/lobby/market area has a clean, modern feel and the staff at the reception are attentive and excellent. It's right by great bars and restaurants, try Sugar Monk next door for amazing cocktails.

So technically this is a 3.5 star hotel. It’s not a Four Seasons or a Waldorf hotel. But I’m giving this place five stars. First of all, the staff is fun, kind, and accommodating. I’ve stayed here three times now, and checking in today, they knew my name as soon as I walked in the door. I work nights when I’m in NYC, and they’ve always accommodated me with a quiet room off the main hall. This time they gave me a corner room with huge windows and tons of light (note that courtyard rooms are quieter). The rooms aren’t fancy, but they are clean and have good heating and air, and the beds are pretty comfy. There aren’t any drawers for clothing, but the modern closet space is plenty for me. Housekeeping is always nice and thorough. They have a neat lobby with artwork from local artists and modern music playing. There is normally a bar and breakfast served, but not right now during COVID 19. It’s also in the vibrant Harlem neighborhood and is about half a mile from a subway train that can get you anywhere. This was booked for business, but I would stay here on personal stays too. Again, kudos to the staff—so warm and welcoming, better than so many luxury hotels in which I’ve stayed!

Honest Review IT NEEDS RENOVATIONS and then it will be very nice for the location HARLlEM…Harlem speaks for itself if you ever been. I had to pick my room because there were complaints of the rooms not being clean and moldy. The room I choose was okay it definitely needs updating, new carpet, paint, curtain shade and it will just be mediocre. Paula who worked the front desk was very rude…Everyone else was pleasant. They have a little area to get snacks and coffee the lobby needs updating. I made sure the room and bed lining was clean..so it was fine to just sleep in but not impressive to spend a lot of time. It was right around the corner from the subway station so the street is to be expected in Harlem. It is hard to see the signage because it is on the top of the hotel but it would give it a 3.5

Can’t understand better ratings. The neighborhood is one thing (wouldn’t recommend women traveling alone to stay here) but comfort and cleanliness is another issue this hotel suffers. For these prices it is unworthy to receive more than 2 stars.
The rooms are unclean and outdated already, there are stains on the wall and everything we’ve touched is broken or messy.
