The Doubletree By Hilton New York Downtown is nestled in the heart of the financial district, drawing praise for its central location near attractions and ferries, although its immediate surroundings receive mixed reviews. While the inviting atmosphere of spacious and clean rooms is often highlighted, some guests find the rooms to be on the smaller side and occasionally lacking in cleanliness.
Despite the cozy welcome of warm cookies, the hotel's service is a point of contention, with slow elevators and inconsistent staff responsiveness dampening the experience for many. Travelers are divided on the hotel's value, with some justifying the cost for a New York stay and others dissatisfied due to the service and facility shortcomings.

Detailed Reviews
We were booked to stay at this hotel for 5 nights over the new year period. The location of this hotel was perfect for us having previously stayed uptown on our last visit. Walking distance to the brooklyn bridge, battery park, 9/11 memorial and plenty of shops and restaurants.
Walking distance to all subway lines and the hop on hop off buses station.
Check in was quick and easy, they do put a hold of $250 on your card incase you incur a charge during your stay.
Id read a lot about the lifts in this hotel and was dreading it a bit, on a short break I did not want to waste time waiting around for lifts however, the only time we had to wait a little longer than expected was on check in due to how busy it was. Not once for the rest of our stay did we wait more than a minute, we were on the 8th floor though so that might have helped.
10/10 for the housekeepers, room serviced, cleaned and fresh towels everyday, very happy and impressed with this after reading some previous reviews!
On to the room itself - quite small for two people, especially when the ironing board was out but we did not spend much time in there so not problem. Couple of drawers were hanging off and not useable but we only had a few bits as it was a short stay so we didnt mention it. TV was great, bed really comfortable and the shower was always hot, perfect. So why the 4*? Unfortunatly this is mainly down to inconsiderate guests. I think there is 10 rooms per floor, Therefore all rooms are near the lift and the door to use the stairs. We could hear the 3 lifts, we could hear talking, shouting, singing (fair enough at a reasonable time but im talking 3/4am). Paper thin walls. When a door was opened in any room on the floor the walls in our room shook as the door slammed shut, which was often. The door for the stairs was even worse and that was next to our room. So thats all that let it down for us, so pack some ear plugs!!

Hotel prices for an average hotel in NYC can be as pricey as an upscale hotel in other areas of the U.S. The DoubleTree by Hilton downtown on Stone Street hits the mark with clean rooms, friendly staff and well-located in the finanical district with at 3 major subway lines in walking distance to the hotel, tons of shopping at WTC Brookfield and restaurants/bars. Be wary that the financial district is a ghosttown on the weekends - though, if you don't mind a little longer of a walk or taking a subway to other areas of the city, this is a great hotel for the budget-minded traveler. Be wary that the rooms are TINY as you would expect for NYC, river views exist on the higher floors but they are obstructed, the gym is clean but small and there is not bar, lounge, or any other amenities.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my daughter. The hotel is dated and room was quite small. We were advised on check in that hospitality will try to refresh the room every day but if we specifically needed it done we would need to request it. They do not put water bottles in the room, I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel that did not supply bottles of water, but especially in New York in June when it is very very hot outside. They do sell bottled of water but for $2.50 for 500ml. Thankfully there is a store on the same street where we bought our own. There is a drinking water tap on the same floor as reception, however they didn't tell us this at time of check in. We spotted it a few days later but the water is warm out of the tap anyway.
The lifts are an absolute nightmare and I really feel for people who were on higher floors than me, or those that could not manage the stairs at all. We were on the 11th floor and used the stairs mostly as the wait time at the lift sometimes was substantial due to only being 3 for 40+ floors.
The aircon was very strong, which was not ideal as it was right next to the bed which means you are either freezing if you leave it on overnight, or too warm if it is off.
In summary not quite the standard I would have expected for a Doubletree by Hilton hotel. The pictures definitely make it look a lot more modern and brighter than it actually is. Thankfully I had booked it very far in advance so only paid £450 for 4 nights. I had tried to amend my dates closer to the time but the price changed to £800+ so I kept it as it was.

Stayed 2 nights. Lady at check in was fantastically nice and professional. Location was close to metro and a short walk to battery park. Elevators might have been a little slow sometimes, but otherwise all positive.

Checked in 1 hr early, unfortunately, Anna was checking me in. She isn't the friendliest person. She charged me $30 to check in 1 hrs early, fine. She told me the hotel is fully booked and couldn't give me the river view I paid for. Fine. The room was decorated very modern and nice! But the room wasn't clean. The bathroom floor had dirt along the walls and shower. There was dirty around the furniture. Wish I had a broom. But not a major issue, since I often carry lysol wipes to disinfect the room handles (precautions for Covid). What I didn't like was there was no hot water. Waited for Maintenance at 930PM to arrive and tell me the hotel is not booked. There's only 20 rooms booked tonight and therefore it's necessary to run the shower and sink for 10 minutes to get some hot water. It will take 10 minutes to have hot water. Wow. What a waste of water and my time to wait 10 minutes for water that will be warm enough for a shower! And this is okay with Hilton?????
My other issue, why did Anna lie and say the hotel is booked and couldn't give me the river view I Paid for? But she's still charging me $30 to check in 1 hr prior to check in. Anna doesn't seem to like her job, maybe she needs some training or repositioned to another job at Hilton. Front desk isn't her strength. She's not friendly at all!

We have just returned to the UK after 5 nights at this hotel and can't report on any negatives. The room was spacious enough for two adults and a child with 2 very comfortable double beds. The decor was modern with a clean bathroom, large flatscreen television and a coffee maker. There was also a safe and an iron & board in the wardrobe. We stayed on floor 19 at the front of the hotel, the room was silent all night, we couldn't hear anything from adjoining rooms or the street outside. We never waited more than 3 minutes for a lift the entire stay, the staff were polite and courteous and special mention has to be made for the chamber staff who are simply lovely, work tirelessly and made sure we had fresh towels and a pristine bed daily. The location was perfect for us, there is a subway station for the yellow line at the end of the street and it's just a 2 minute walk to the green line. There's a convenience store at the corner of the block but this is pricey and closes early, however there is a seven eleven store just a short distance away. The location is perfect for Wall Street and Battery Park. There is an Italian restaurant on the ground floor and ice machines every other floor. Note you do have to scan your key card in the lift in order to select a floor going up. A breakages deposit was taken when we checked in, which was returned to my card less than 2 days later. In summary I would highly recommend this hotel.

Tiny everything here. Small rooms, no bathroom counter space, small walkways and very slow elevator service for 44 floors. Only 2. took the stairs a couple times from the 15th floor because I didn't have time to wait any longer. On site restaurant will cost you $30 per person for a breakfast buffet that's worth maybe $15. Location is good but I will not be back.

Dear Gbriskovich, First, I want to thank you for your feedback. While I wish, you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it’s apparent in this case, we fell short. At the time, you were staying with us, one of our elevators was out of service for routine maintenance. For the inconvenience, it caused, I am sorry. The safety of our guests is a priority and such service is an unavoidable necessity that should have been better explained. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that I will choose a room for you that will be a lot more spacious and our elevator service will be better. I would be happy to make your reservation personally and see to it that you enjoy the experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Please email us with a phone number or email address so we can discuss your issues personally. Sincerely, Tina K. Rooms are okay, little noise barrier between halls and adjoining rooms, elevators are extremely slow ( needed to add on 15 minutes if going out).
My bathroom faucet had only hot water so no cold to brush teeth, make coffee.
Check in was straight forward and accommodating.

The staff did not provide us with any sheets, room cleaning, trash take out, or fresh towels. Me and my friend asked the front desk multiple times during our stay and each time they ignored our requests. We had to reuse our towels for 3 days and sleep in dirty sheets. Visiting NYC requires a place to clean up and feel refreshed however this hotel did not provide us with the bare necessities for cleanliness.

It is a 10 minute walk to the 9/11 memorial & museum. There's a subway station at the end if the road that takes you to Times Square. We got a Hop on bus ticket for 2 days which takes you to all the attractions plus you get three free tours with it. The cost was $79 each, well worth ut. Take a look at Top View website
