Hyatt Centric Wall Street New York receives mixed reviews from guests. While the hotel's location in Lower Manhattan is often lauded for its convenience, some guests feel it lacks exceptional qualities. Its stylish rooms and modern decor contribute to a generally well-regarded atmosphere, though opinions on value are less favorable, with criticisms of high prices for what some consider average services. Cleanliness is satisfactory for many, but some point out housekeeping issues. The service and room quality elicit varied reactions, with reports of both prompt, friendly interactions and unsatisfactory, inattentive responses. Amenities are perceived as adequate but not impressive, particularly after the hotel's rebranding.

Hotel location, set up and room architecture was fine but my room heater didn't work, the bathroom is finished in black so it was hard to find the hook for my towel (took me overnight and a lot of looking) as there is no rack for your towel other than the wet shower. The front desk did not go over the charges upon checkout - I had to ask and they still didn't show me a copy of the receipt then emailed me a blank receipt requiring 30 min of calling to get someone on the phone later that day to fix this. Also, the restaurant food prices were significantly higher than those listed on the web site.

The rooms here have clear shower doors into the main room. This can make for an uncomfortable trip depending on who you are traveling with. There was a huge mirror that reflected the clear shower door to the person sitting in bed watching tv. Clearly a stupid design with no privacy in mind. I was traveling with my 18 yo daughter and thankfully we are comfortable with each other but we still dont need to see the other person showering. We found out later you can rotate the huge mirror but you shouldn't have to as most people will not know this. It also still prevents anyone from even walking by the other parts of the bathroom because the clear door is front and center. If you are traveling alone or as a couple this might not be an issue but it would be really awkward had I been traveling with my son or a friend. The toilet door is frosted so I'm not sure why they couldn't frost the shower door too. Everything is alacarte in the bathroom it's not just one bathroom but it's spread out in the entrance to the room.

The hotel itself and its staff are good. The location is fairly convenient, only about 200m to NYSE building and very close to subways. The downsides are following: (1) hotel is a bit old and some furnishings are worn down/need maintenance, (2) elevator is not gated by room card and anyone can get to any floor. The gym and restroom are in the basement, which is also directly accessible through the side stair in the lobby and main entrance, and it's not gated neither. Although there are security/24-hour concierge, and security camera, as a woman, I still didn't feel very safe when I worked out at night, especially when I went to use the restroom.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was delighted by its large, comfortable rooms and exceptionally friendly staff. The location made it effortless to access nearby transport hubs, which was a huge plus. I also loved having a generous workspace in the room, and the shower offered great water pressure. Best of all, the bed was incredibly cozy and ensured a good night’s rest. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for both convenience and comfort.

If you read nothing else - don't stay here. The issues that are consistent across most of these reviews are indeed present.

I love Hyatt, but Centric seems to have become their brand for hotels with good bones and management that doesn't care, and that seems to be the case here. It used to be an Andaz, which means the rooms are massive, the finishes are quite nice, and it feels more elevated. That said, none of it has been maintained.

As noted in other reviews, the shower floods the entire bathroom, and I had unresolved HVAC issues, including AC that just didn't work, throughout my stay. The room was very poorly maintained - scuff marks all over the walls and the bathroom and chipped tiles, knobs, and furniture. Housekeeping was a miss - the room wasn't the cleanest when I got in, and the room was barely turned when housekeeping came by.

The gym is "not working" (not clear what that means) and they send guests to an apartment building next door, but I didn't use it and am unsure how it works. The "Hyatt Has It" program doesn't exist here, and the service is aggressively indifferent.

The overall feeling of the hotel really is "it's New York, we know people will stay here, so why bother." I wouldn't enable them that by booking a stay.

I booked the hotel from 12/30/24 to 1/1/25. I was planning on sleeping here New Year’s Eve. I checked into the hotel at about 1 or 2am on the 31st. So I wasn’t even there for the first day that I had paid for. My bill was $1725 for a 2night/3day stay. I was charged and extra $325 for checking out late. I had slept in and called down to the front desk as soon as I woke up and realized I had over slept. When I spoke to the girl down stairs at the desk she said not to worry and they would send a cart up to help bring my luggage downstairs. If I had known they were going to charge me I would have just another night. I already had another hotel booked at the Grand Hyatt in NYC because I was checking out all the Hyatt hotels in the area and planned to post the hotel reviews to my you tube channel. As a content creator, that’s what I do. When I called to ask about the charge they just said that’s what they were charging me. Even though with my status I had the room until 2pm. I was gone before 3. Getting my car from valet took at least an hour. The room was nothing like what it looked like in the pictures. It was much smaller in person and none of the light switches in the room worked properly. I am a loyal Hyatt member. I stay at hyatts all over the place and this one was the worst. I have never felt so taken advantage of by a hotel. Won’t be staying here ever again. When I called the hotel to address the bill they said they would investigate and get back to me. That did not happen. They told me that each Hyatt is individually owned and they could bill me how ever they wanted.

Dear Tiff P, We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. As we approach the festive season, there is an increased demand for rooms, and we do understand how this can be frustrating. Our rooms are charged on a nightly basis, and should you be arriving after midnight, we recommend booking for the day prior to guarantee your accommodation. Due to the high season, our terms and conditions, including the cancellation policy for early departures, unfortunately do not allow for refunds, which is why we are unable to shorten your stay without incurring charges. We fully understand your frustration and regret that we are unable to accommodate your request at this time. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide a more seamless experience. Thank you for your understanding.

I'll keep it short.

Personal situation (might not apply to everyone and this has never happened to me so it might never happen to you either, but when it does, this is how the hotel handles it): I applied a Suite Night Award to this reservation. Hyatt confirmed the suite but my price never went down. I contacted Hyatt 20 times easily and they kept asking me to wait even 24 hours before arrival. My flight got delayed and I arrived 9 am in the morning (mind you I already paid for the previous night which is totally fine by me). I was way too tired to argue with the front desk so I check in and get to my room. Not only they didn't charge me for a standard room, they charged me standard price (not corporate or member price, but standard price) for the suite which was about $750 in Financial district. I asked them to check me out, they said you can't and now you have to stay for the rest of your nights. Eventually I was able to argue my way to check out early. So I basically paid $1500 for 5 hours stay at that hotel and moved to Hyatt Centric Times Square (much better hotel with heated bathroom floors). Overall, will not return.

Hospitality: The front desk lady was just rude and couldn't care less about the situation. She just kept telling me to speak with the manager if I want to talk more. I tried speaking with the manager (Erica and Pauline) but they couldn't care less. Mind you, I am a globalist, so you can imagine the treatment non-elites will get here.

Hotel and Breakfast: Not to mention, baseboards were all broken, chipped, drywall had dents, the condition of the $750 suite was terrible and mind you, this is a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was just bad. Cold buffet with sad looking sausage and scrambled eggs, costed $73 for 2 (before tip). Please do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel.

Very nice experience. Pretty good location, situated between the cruise piers, the financial district and 9-11 museum/memorial, most of it was very walk-able. Good selection of lunch and dinner restaurants that are walk-able. The hotel itself is upscale but very comfortable. It features a comfortable bar within and a very nice and complete breakfast was available in the morning (with an additional cost on our booking). Staff was great and the entire facility was extremely clean and secure. We chose this because the rooms were larger than just about any other option in the price range and we were not disappointed. All 3 couples agreed that we would stay again if we were in the area.

1) we had to pay $3600 for the stay. We were contacted around 8 p.m. after arrival telling us that payment had not been processed. We understood that the amount that was taken was €5,000 without explanation. Finally, during the two weeks, other sums were taken and then returned to the tale. An unjustified yo-yo.
2) there is a huge party on the 11th floor by young people. Several customers were full but unfortunately the hotel did not consider it necessary to intervene and let these young people be like in a discotheque all night. We had to fight to ask for compensation since we did not sleep. The hotel offered us a credit after several minutes of negotiations. We refused it and had to fight again for a refund of the night.
Which was finally accepted for $277. But once again, the hotel during check out decided to refund us $240 because ultimately they decided to take an average of the night over the 15 days.

3) every day we had to go downstairs to ask for cotton buds/earplugs/glasses because the cleaning ladies never put them back in the room.

The service was deplorable considering the price

We just stayed in room 1702 a Centric Premier Suite on 8/11 - 8/12. We were excited to try the Centric as we attend a lot of events at the Pier and this hotel has a great location.

Arrived at 5pm with guests waiting for us in the lobby only to find out that the room wasn't ready. Staff was polite and offered to shift us to a smaller suite that was ready. Said the wifi on the 17th floor was out. We said no problem. As they were about to do that they got a call and said our original suite would be ready in 5 mins. We asked if the wifi was working and they said yes.

Upon arriving to room 1702 we found it to be very hot. We set the temp to 61 degrees. 30 mins went by and it wasn't cooling down. Additionally, there was plastic wrapped around a smoke detector in the bedroom, tall ceiling so I couldn't remove it. We called the front desk and they immediately sent up a very nice maintenance person.

He knew what the issue was, said the living room was 78 degrees and bedroom was much warmer, he dialed it down to 55 after removing a panel and confirmed what we already suspected, only the large living area has vents, the large bedroom and bathrooms do not. He offered a fan but we declined as we had to get over to an event. He also removed the plastic from the smoke detector.

Arrived back at the room after 11pm and the room was very hot. We were exhausted and decided to deal with it and try and sleep. Unfortunately we didn't get a lot of sleep.

Instead of working from the suite on Friday like we had planned we got up at 6am and headed back home to work. Very disappointed in this room (wifi was never online) and even with a working ac unit the design of the room leads me to believe there will always be temperature related issues between the different sections. Not sure if this is unique to this suite or all Centric Premier suites at this hotel.

Would we return? I guess the answer is maybe. Staff was nice and the only reason we ranked this stay as a 2 out of 5.

Other note: coffee in the restaurant was not good.

In summary, bummed we paid to upgrade to this suite (points/$), love the location of the hotel, not sure if we will return I guess it depends.
