Hotel Park Ave NYC earns praise for its prime location and inviting atmosphere, with many guests highlighting the hotel's convenience to attractions and its serene, well-kept environment. However, reviews indicate a mixed bag when it comes to service and room quality; while some guests receive top-notch attention, others encounter inconsistencies, including maintenance issues. Although the cleanliness and comfort of rooms are often commended, some visitors feel the hotel falls short on value, pointing to unexpected fees and some amenities not meeting expectations.

Staying at the Mondrian is an unmatched NYC experience. The location, cleanliness and rooms will make any trip to the city feel like more of a vacation and less like a trip. The customer service is the best I have yet to find in the city. Gabriel, Justin, and Jacob made my stay delightful. They were beyond accommodating and I felt that I was a true guest at the Mondrian, something I haven’t felt at any hotel in the city ever. There was an issue on my end when I checked in and they were extremely helpful while the issue was being resolved and in the time waiting told me all the “must eat” places in the area. ( which were on point) I stayed for 5 days and every time I returned to the lobby I was greeted by a warm welcome and I felt that this staff truly cared about my day and my stay. This hotel has a beautiful terrace for breakfast, gym access, spacious for NYC rooms, and the location is unbeatable. 25 min from LGA and 10 min for Penn or Grand Central, you can get anywhere you need quickly.

I would stay here again for the staff experience alone. Thanks Gabriel, Jacob, and Justin - you made my week :)

My family and I stayed here this weekend for one night. We live locally but were attending an event near by that was ending late so decided to stay here for a night instead of traveling home at a late hour. The hotel met all of our needs for a one night stay and we were pleased with our time there. We had a room with 2 double beds for myself, wife and 2 kids. This was adequate space for us. The continental breakfast in the morning does not include hot food like eggs, pancakes or bacon but was more than sufficient for my family to enjoy a meal before leaving the next morning. Breakfast includes croissants, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juice, tea and coffee.

My only complaint here is the staff not understanding the policies of the hotel. After reading some negative reviews here, I decided to call the hotel before booking to inquire about the "resort" fee and included breakfast, etc. The front desk associate told me breakfast was complimentary if you decide to pay the resort fee of $45 but you have the option to waive the resort fee when you check in at the hotel and therefore breakfast will not be included in your stay That sounded good to me so I proceeded with booking and paying directing through the hotel website. Immediately after submitting the booking online, my credit card was charged $45 more than the price that was shown at checkout. When I went to check in to the hotel later that evening, (different front desk associate now than in the morning when I called) the front desk associate told me that they had no idea why that employee told me that you had the option to waive the resort fee when this in fact is not true and it is a mandatory fee. So two employee working for the same hotel at the same front desk have totally different understandings of the hotel policy? Not a great look.

We ended up going down for breakfast in the morning since we were already charged for it but would have opted to skip it if we had the choice. My assumption is if you book through a third party, they'll charge you this resort fee separately upon checkout at the hotel.

Hotel needs to be more transparent about these fees as it is an apparent reoccurring issue here based on the reviews. Would have rated higher were it not for being misled prior to booking.

Hello Neal! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the quality of our hotel! Our location is very convenient for people who love exploring the big apple, like you and your family. We apologize for the miscommunication regarding our facility fee. Phone calls to the number on our site typically get routed to central reservations unless our extension (2383) is used. Our facility fee is stated in the email confirmation. However, we will definitely speak to our team to ensure we are all on the same page for future references. Thank you for choosing the Mondrian, we hope you stay again soon!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Mondrian Hotel during the holiday rush :) It can be the most challenging season to book and definitely a hassle to receive some level of additional support services while in town. To prepare, I called before booking my stay and shout out to the guest services agent, Shian, who was very knowledgeable of the area, room options, activities and proximity to the theater district. This sold me on staying at the hotel!

Upon arrival, the staff was warm and welcoming which was exactly what anyone would want. I was pleased that there was a restaurant next door and also that the hotel offered complimentary breakfast at Blank Slate (walking distance - nearby). But above all, the same guest services agent, Shian, went above and beyond to create a unique experience by offering food choices and consistent follow ups on their service during my stay. Honestly, that lovely woman deserves a raise on the continued display of patience and care alone! This made my stay an easy 10/10.

If you have the pleasure of being greeted by Shian be sure to remember I told you here first!

Thank you again!

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. They claim to be 4 star, but this felt like a 2 or 3 star «hotel». Upon arrival, nobody helped us with the bags to the 11th floor and the room didnt have soap or shampoo and the sink was clogged. We had to notify the staff 5 times before they fixed the sink and 3 times before they brought us soap so we could shower after travelling for 10 hours. Everytime We let Them know about any problem they Said they Would send someone right away, but no One came. Same thing with the TV in our room that did not Work and we let Them know at least 2 times every day of our Stay, and they never managed to fix it before we left. On the fourth night of our stay we were locked out of our room at 10 pm when were in a hurry. They tried to fix our key cards twice but then they suddenly claimed the room was not paid and we could not access until we had made a new payment. This whole scene was a nightmare and the staff were extremely rude to us which was really uncomfortable. We had submitted a valid credit card a month prior to the stay so this was the hotels fault for not having any Control of the or bookings and not ours. Also the breakfast was terrible; only sweets, yoghurt and bananas. We Only had it once during our stay. I would never recommend anyone to stay there unless they want to be annoyed everyday.

Ida, thank you for sharing your feedback. We are truly sorry that your experience with us fell short of expectations and caused frustration during your stay. While we are glad you appreciated the hotel's convenient location, we regret that other aspects of your visit did not meet your standards. We understand your concerns regarding the room amenities, maintenance delays, and communication issues. Our records show that luggage assistance was offered but declined, and the team did submit requests for amenities. Unfortunately, it seems there was a breakdown in ensuring these were fulfilled, and we deeply apologize for this oversight. We also recognize how frustrating it must have been to encounter issues with the TV and keycards, and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Regarding the payment concern, the credit card provided at booking was only valid for a portion of the stay, which led to the lockout. While we attempted to resolve this matter during check-in and throughout your stay, we understand how this situation could have been frustrating, and we regret any discomfort caused. Lastly, we appreciate your feedback about the breakfast options and will take your comments into account as we work to improve the overall guest experience. Thank you again for your detailed review. While we regret that we weren’t able to meet your expectations this time, we remain committed to learning from this feedback to ensure future stays are more enjoyable. If there’s anything further we can do to address your concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly.

We stayed here for 5 nights with our teenagers
The hotel is very well placed for visiting everything New York has to offer, you can literally walk the whole city from here
Modern hotel, but tired in places.
Service ok, we enjoyed our stay and was perfect for what we needed. Basic, but fine.
Reason for the low rating is we had booked a room only rate through our travel agent. When we arrived reception told us breakfast was included. We said we didn’t think it was and was assured it was. We checked it again in the morning
We therefore had their very simple (toast, pastries, water) breakfast every morning.
Three days after returning home, having been told there was nothing to pay at check out, £165 per room ( we had two) was taken off my card. When I questioned this I was eventually told it was to cover ‘resort fees’, which was breakfast, WiFi (this was horrific and we didn’t use it) the gym (never saw one) and the terrace (which is just a lounge and were told was free for guests to use, but we didn’t). They insisted it was for my agent to inform me of this extra cost but they didn’t know about it. I think it’s incredible they never mentioned it even when asked! Even if you did know you were being charged etc this is terrible value for money. Breakfast is on paper plates and very basic and WiFi unusable
Avoid. Absolute scammers.

Hello Beachdreamer40, Thank you for taking the time to post your review and express your concerns. As it was mentioned by our Front Desk Agents, resort fees most of the time are not included by travel agents. Travel agents use 3rd party booking sites, and the resort fees are to be paid at the hotel, post stay. This should've been mentioned to you by your travel agent and mentioned on your email confirmation. When booking directed through our site, these fees are mentioned and included. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Booked and paid for two beds. Confirmed the reservation and the two beds at 3:30. Arrived at hotel at 10:30 and told there was an issue and I now have one bed and a cot. The cot is deplorable. Not possible for an adult to sleep on. Four inches thick with metal
Springs. No blanket just a sheet.
No two bed rooms available. Still paying for two beds though.
When I was waiting at the front desk a woman and her daughter checked out at 10:30 pm because the room next door had a dog that had been left in the room and had been barking for four hours straight. They checked out and went to a Marriot. When I went back down 20 minutes later the two front desk staff behind the curtain at the front desk were discussing how they were going to put me in the barking dog room the next day because it had two beds in it despite the fact that this woman just had to move hotels at 10:30 at night and was really upset about the incessant barking. So bad to worse. Expedia was no help. They could have let me out of this reservation that is not consistent with what I booked or maybe refined me the difference between the rooms or gotten me another hotel with two beds but no - tomorrow while I’m working a room may become available and I may be able to have that room but maybe not so when I get back here I may still be in the room with one bed paying for two and a bed that an adult can not sleep on. This is a scam.

Where do I start?

The only positives were the front desk staff and the location.

The negatives.

The room is very small, the website pictures are very deceiving.

The whole hotel is very tired and neglected. The walls are covered in marks, there was a water leak stain on our ceiling, the wallpaper in the hall was falling off, the carpets were stained and not vacuumed for the four nights we stayed there.
Of the 4 nights we stayed one of them the 15th floor terrace was closed for a private function and it is closed on Sundays and Mondays. This left one day.

There were no coffee making machines in the rooms as the hotel cannot buy the coffee pods as they are not available???
The free breakfast they advertise is a $20 voucher per couple to use at a coffee shop a block away. If you have one coffee and virtually nothing to eat it might cover the cost.
We were told it was not served in the attached restaurant as it had been refurbished and had only been open two weeks???
We arrived at the hotel early and were hoping to decorate the room for our son's birthday and marathon run. We were told it hadn't been cleaned and they would call when it was ready. This never happened.
We couldn't sit in the lobby and relax as what looks like a spacious lobby on the hotel website is tiny.
At ten past nine on our departure day the cleaner wanted us to leave so she could clean it. This she communicated to us using a translation app on her phone as she didn't speak English.
With no facilities whatsoever and the state of the place a 3 star rating is more realistic. Unfortunately they charge 5 star prices.

This is my honest review for this hotel. I can’t say that it was bad but my expectations going in were higher for this hotel.

The hotel is much much smaller than what it looks like on the website, and that’s including the rooms. Our one king bed room could fit one big luggage, and I used my carry on as a night stand since the room was too small to fit two night stands.

My first advice would be to check the size of the room when booking. If you just want a bed then you’ll be fine, but know that there is no place to lounge or chill in that room other than the bed.

Second advise, if you don’t like loud noises don’t stay in a room above the terrace. Our room was directly above the terrace and the music was blasting every night which made it hard to sleep. (You may like music over sirens though so just keep that in mind 👍🏼)
Our room was on the 16th floor, and the terrace is on the 15th.
Our A/C wasn’t working great so we opened the balcony door which was fine for April weather but we got the loud music until midnight.

Another thing to know is that there isn’t a coffee machine in the room, so you will have to go downstairs to the lobby to get your coffee.
We ended up walking one block down to a Starbucks so that wasn’t an issue for us and the walk was great.

There is no room service and the only restaurant attached to the hotel was never open. I swear I never saw that place open once! So make sure you find a near by restaurants for breakfast.
The hotel did say that if you can have a buffet style breakfast at the Cleo restaurant for $20 a room, we just never saw that place open 😳

All and all the hotel was clean and in a great location. Do remember that you’re paying for the location and not the luxury of the hotel.

If you keep all these points in mind you will most likely enjoy your stay, so adjust those expectations 👍🏼👍🏼

Hi Hamiltonia, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We appreciate your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your overall stay with us. Our rooms are a bit smaller than average, but they can be larger depending on room category. We unfortunately only have coffee machines set up in our suites, but we do have extras available upon request. Like you mentioned, we do also offer the complimentary coffee/tea in our lobby every morning. You'll be happy to hear that our restaurant should be finishing renovations and having a grand opening by mid-July, and we would love to welcome you back at that point to experience it.

If you are looking for just a bed in NYC, the Mondrian on Park will do. If you are hoping to stay in a full service hotel, definitely look elsewhere. The restaurant is closed for renovations and both other hotel venues were closed for “private events” for the entire multi-day length of our stay. Also, if you want ice for your room, or room service of any kind, forget about it. Asked for ice and towels to match the size of our family of 4 and after 3 calls with the front desk and one trip down 20 floors, we got ice and two more towels about one hour after we placed the request. The next night I tried to get ice from the front desk, or delivered to me at the front desk — the staff said that was impossible. I even asked a second time as i wanted to avoid another hour wait in my room. No dice. It would seem as if management has fully checked out of this hotel. Too bad for what used to be a really solid hotel brand. You can do far better in NYC. As for service and caring about guests, it might be hard to do worse.
