The Hilton Garden Inn NYC Financial Center is celebrated for its exceptional service, with staff members earning high marks for their friendliness and professionalism. While the hotel's atmosphere and rooms are generally appreciated for their modernity and cleanliness, some guests suggest the rooms could benefit from updates and grumble about their size. The amenities, including a gym and laundry facilities, along with the hotel's prime location near subway stations and key attractions, are widely praised. Nevertheless, opinions on the hotel's value are divided, with some guests questioning additional costs despite the otherwise reasonable rates.

Pros:
Clean
Comfortable bed
Lots of different size pillows
Good hot shower/bath
Water view (in the less expensive rooms, even, we just asked!)
Best- incredible staff at desk, in housekeeping, restaurant, bar (amazing drinks) and engineering/maintenance.
Other than tax and $3.50 NYC charge- no hidden fees
Free morning coffee in lobby and second floor
Steps to Whitehall subway station and SI Ferry, Ferries to Liberty and Ellis Islands
Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion in good amounts and real soap
12 Noon check out
Cons:
The little coffee machine thing in our room was pretty dirty, still had a used pod in it (lobby and restaurant was better anyway)
Stuff:
View helicopters headed over Statue of Liberty can get noisy in AM (not real early), construction on adjoining road (Sept '23) but Sunday AM is heaven, though, sleep nice and late-

Very pleased with this hotel. Really excellent staff pushed the rating to 5. Will return. (With the Hilton honors credit card, I think - didn't tend to stay in them often!)

Stayed in this hotel for a business trip beginning of January. I definitely enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The price per night was very cheap for NY standards, but that was mainly due to staying there off-season.

Particularly the location of the hotel is very good, very close to the South Ferry terminal. Multiple stops of the underground are within walking distance (1, R, ...), so you can get everywhere in Manhattan within 30 minutes. Multiple restaurants and shops/supermarkets can be found very close to the hotel. Only disadvantage is that a few of these are closed in the weekend, or only open later in the morning. Another thing to mention, is that the staff is very friendly and helpful, particularly Martin.

Regarding the hotel room (which is of course the most important): the room was not very big, as could be expected in New York. But it was ok for a few days, the size did not bother me. Beds were very comfortable, and bathroom was also top. The curtains blocked the outside light very well, which is often not the case in other hotels. The bathroom has all the amenities one needs, and there were enough towels available (+ good quality). The water pressure could be maybe a little bit stronger, but again this did not bother me at all. Only negative point, hence the overall rating of 4 stars instead of 5, was that the room was quite noisy due to the airconditioning just outside the hotel. So one might want to avoid staying in room 605, definitely if you are a light sleeper.

My recent trip to New York as a solo traveller, this hotel was surpassed all expectations. From the moment I checked in the team was welcoming, engaging and friendly you really couldn't ask any more. I had a wonderful water view on the 25th floor the room was immaculate, super comfy crisp white cotton clean king bed with all amenities you need and ample storage.
Rooms cleaned daily to a great standard and it was nice to be able to open the window that seemed very secure for those travelling with a child. Every day the team were courtious and polite.
The location I loved right on the subway train number 1 which hits all key points in the city, staten Island ferry and a 25minute leasurely walk along the river to the New Jersey ferry, if your returning to New York done the key sights come to shop and enjoy great food and night life the location either way is great.
I ate on my first night as I 2as tired after a long flight the restaurant staff extremely attentive and listened as I am gluten free along with good prices and a great cocktail.
For me I have found my preferred hotel in the city for my future visits. I wish to thank all of the team for a great stay and look forward to seeing you all next time.

Thank you for your superb review! We are delighted that you chose a water-view room which has views of the Staten Island Ferry across the street. Being so close to the ferries and water-taxi's provides easy access to the East River, Hudson River and New York Harbor

Located across the street from the ferry to Staten Island. Very clean area, quiet, many restaurants, and bars around. Close to the 4 train, across the street from the 1 train. Very friendly customer service, they offer coffee and tea in the mornings and infused water during the day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bar are offered but personally, the cost was very high for basic food especially breakfast (dinner was more reasonable). Better to eat at a restaurant nearby or order food. After check-out they offered to store bags for the day, we declined because we were not going to explore or do anything we were simply going home but it's good to know they offer that. We had a very relaxing time. This was the perfect weekend getaway.

The room was small but enough for two people. We had a king room water view. The closet was super tiny, too small for two people even if it was only for a weekend. BUT, we did not have many things and honestly the view and the service outshined that space. The room was extremely clean. The bathroom was as well. And I am PICKY with the cleanliness of sheets and bathrooms to the point that I ALWAYS bring my own towel, pillowcase, and shower shoes. I felt comfortable, clean, and as though I could step everywhere with my bare feet.

I gave it a 4 because it was pricy to book and the space was small, there was no mini-bar in the room, and the menu prices were a bit over the top, BUT, I would return to this hotel again and probably will.

Our first time in the united states and i’m glad we stayed here. The hotel was welcoming, helpful and friendly. I had trouble with my credit card upon arrival paying for the incidental hold and rather than embarrass us by demanding another card or method of payment the hotel staff allowed us to our room to sort it out with our bank and to come back down to pay when we were ready.

I was pleased to find that there was no resort fee at this hotel, just an incidental deposit of $50 a night which is then refunded when you leave if no incidentals were charged.

Every day coming in and out staff would greet us and chat with us. The room was clean, comfy and well heated/cooled. Bathroom was spotless and toiletries were restocked every day. The subway is directly round the corner and Wall St, Statue of Liberty and Staten Island ferry are all within reasonable distance.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn’t mind a bit of subway travel or walking to get to the bigger attractions and to anyone who wants to stay in Manhattan but wants avoid the hustle, noise and tourist trap nature of Times Square.

Overall I would have given top marks for everything, especially for breakfast when Efe was on (such a happy, pleasant and very efficient waitress), the chefs were also very cheerful and made us some delicious omelettes and there was a very happy lady on reception on our arrival who always smiled along with the pleasantly mannered concierge staff. Rooms were also very clean and when we called for someone to reset the safe they assisted promptly.
Unfortunately our experience with the breakfast facilities and service on the last day was extremely disappointing. It was busy when we arrived but as it was during the middle of the time the restaurant was open this was expected.
However, there were no plates on the breakfast bar so I had to ask for some, I then had to ask for cutlery as there was not any laid out on the table but gave up waiting so had to go and find our own. We ended up getting our own coffee and had to go and get milk from the cereal area. We don't have a problem with getting our own things, but this is not how this restaurant is set up.
On a Sunday they apparently don't offer sausages and the other two ready cooked items of potatoes and scrambled eggs had basically ran out, so we ordered an omelette each. My husband waited that long for his he had to go and ask the chef where his omelette was only to be told it had already been sent out - don't know who got his order but the waiter/waitress had obviously given it to the wrong person even though we'd got the numbers on our table. He had to re-order and wait again!
On the fruit bar, apart from a couple of chunks that had been dropped around the edges the pineapple box was empty. The melon was still available but I would have expected the pineapple to be replenished as the breakfast sitting was only part way through - only a tiny niggle, but I like pineapple.
Some of the tables were left "dirty" for quite a while before they were cleared for the next guests.
I did try to "complain" about this via the reception lady but she was very dismissive of me.
However, because of everything else that was good I would use this hotel again. Also at night time it is rather quiet, it is at the end of town (obviously if you're planning on staying here you can see that) and the main road is positioned around the edge of town so you can't hear the traffic on it.

Generally, the Financial District inn is very good and convienient. The location is only 2min away from the Staten Island Ferry and Battery Park and you can even see a view of the sea bay, so it is the best place if you want to stay in the heart of the financial district or next to the bay area. Infrastructures are also very clean. Additional services may cost much. Breakfast is $18 or $23 and it is too expensive. But you may find many more restaurants in the very near district.

We stayed here for four nights after Christmas and hand a wonderful stay! We were traveling as a family with our two children ages seven and 12. The location of the hotel is very close to multiple subway stops, restaurants and drug stores But it is very quiet and in a safe area. We were also very close to the Statue of Liberty ferry, the iconic Wall Street bull, Trinity church, and the 911 Memorial. It took about 15 to 20 minutes to get into Midtown Manhattan from our subway stop And it was very easy for us to navigate. Other than the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel we took the subway or walked the entire time and had no difficulty. The hotel staff was wonderful and accommodating our needs, which included connecting rooms and storing our luggage on the day of departure while we visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We would definitely stay here again!

We love staying in the Financial District and this is a first staying in the Hilton Garden Inn. The front desk was kind and helpful and gave us a hard copy key although I’d opted for a digital one. Good move as one time my phone died. The room was adequate though a bit small. Bed very comfortable with nice pillow choices. Loved the bathroom! Towels in the walk in shower worked out nicely as the shower size was long. A packet with shower cap and a few other essentials besides typical shampoo, conditioner and body lotion would have been nice. Several times we had a few needs, called the front desk who had them delivered in a reasonable time. The breakfast if not a higher level Hilton Honors member was a bit pricey so we opted for nearby Starbucks. Overall a very nice stay, steps away from Battery Park and a ride on the Stanton Island Ferry.

I asked for a room accommodation before my arrival and was told I would receive it but upon my return, I was not given my room accommodation and the person at the front desk said there was only this one room in the entire hotel that was available - BS.

I asked about having some things in my room fixed, and nothing was properly done. The bed made a lot of noise, the lamp didnt work, the charger portal didnt work, the bed had a huge stain on it when we arrived, the hotel said they ran out of toothbrushes in the entire hotel! The room had crumbs on the carpet floor, the door between the microwave and fridge didnt close properly. It was just a ridiculous stay. I absolutely hated my stay. for my experience and service I received, I should have been paying $20/night.

Parking is $50 a night for valet for a smaller car and $60/night for a suv or larger car. The hotel did not provide us with alternative parking, they wanted to force us to only consider the valet option.

Yes, the hotel charges a $100 security deposit that they state is returned within one week of check out. We did have to follow up with management to have our deposit returned, but once we called it was immediately taken care of.
