Clueless staff, waking me up 2.5 hours before check out with a knock on the door to see if room was vacant to clean. And then tried again 1 hour before check out. Leave me alone when I’m paying to stay.

I really wish I could give this a 4 or a 5 but we had so much repeated ridiculousness with staff at front desk I just can’t The positives: location is amazing Staff super friendly / welcoming / helpful Elevators really effective for as busy and old as the building is Cons: It’s a building from 1920’s. First night cold air was literally rushing in through window in bathroom - reported in the morning and was 90% fixed when we returned Staff would turn off heat every time they accessed room - made for chilly returns - and one night we didn’t realized it until til I woke up at 3 am room was 50 degrees But the biggest pain was the run around I got literally every time I walked up to the front desk First it was our room had a “maintenance issue” so they asked us to wait 35 minutes to clean a new room When we returned the person literally said the same thing…then a said we must have tried to check in early a noooo it was 5pm Didn’t get into a room until after 6 Was NOT the room we had booked (view) was told that when he gave us key and said our rate would be adjusted Checked the next morning and was told by a manager even she can’t adjust rate - so offered to waive res for fee for 1 day??? Basically had to check in every day to be sure we were properly compensated for whatever happened to screw up our room. Then when I checked out I asked for a print out and was Told the printer was broken they would email it - said I needed it before I left - he disappeared for a bit and came back with a print out . A LOT of unnecessary ridiculousness that was totally unneeded

An absolute fantastic hotel. The Location is perfect. Check in so easy. There are so many places to eat around here including a bar in the hotel 24 hr restaurant that serves everything and a great steak restaurant that you do need reservations for. There is Starbucks and McDonald's right across the street and a fabulous Public house AKA Pub with 2 levels a wide variety of beers and drinks and the food is delicious all very well priced Tailors public house , definitely recommend it turn left out the front doors of the hotel and it is one block away on your left . 24 hr security you must show your key before entering into the elevator area. Our room was good for us small but we made do we were here for 5 days and just need a place to lay out heads as we were out all day on adventures. Bed very comfortable and bathroom had everything we needed. Fitness center is great lots of equipment and cardio and a nice business area to print off documents or just use a computer. We definitely would recommend staying here to all our friends and when we come back we will stay here again . Very good value for your money

My belated discovery of New Yorker Hotel has enhanced my relationship to the city (will be returning soon for fifth visit in 18 months). It combines reasonable rates with the rarity that travel writers describe as “a spirit of place.” It continues to reflect NY’s unique jazz age/art deco history, while its authentic renovations offer modern conveniences without gutting uniqueness. I usually arrive by train so love fact it’s one building over from Penn Station, as well as being at the nexus of the key subway lines. It's worth paying a bit more for a view as the hotel's are spectacular. Check-in is easy and flexible, along with great bag check service. I love NY diners and its 24/7 Tick-Tock is the best!

I have just returned and had a great experience at The New Yorker. Staff were so helpful and welcoming the lady at check in sorted out a free room upgrade for my daughters birthday she was the kindest lady. Beds were comfy and the room was clean. This hotel is in a great location and is close to everything with access to Penn station on the doorstep. We arrived very early and although checkin was not till 4pm they let us check in early. All in all a great stay for 4 nights I would recommend to anyone visiting NYC.

Check in was an issue with my room not being ready, but staff secured me another room which was very good. Clean room and I was impressed as last year I had a room the size of a closet! Hotel was clean and a good value for the money. Elevators were fast. Hotel does need a good update.

So here's the reality on our stay at The New Yorker Wyndham hotel. Overall, it was just okay, but definitely had some bumps along the way. Let's start with check-in. The reception vibe? It felt like they were just going through the motions, no real warmth or info about the place. The elevator situation was an experience. Every time we got in, it was like we were being grilled by the lobby staff - with comments such as "We only need to see one room card..." and "the odd nod" Not exactly the friendliest bunch. But it wasn't all bad news. Big shoutout to the housekeeping staff, they were super friendly and always welcoming for a chat. The rooms where immaculate and fitted with the Art Deco vibes, also loved our city view. The gym wasn't in use, despite paying the full service tax every day... So yeah, The New Yorker Wyndham has some good stuff going on, great value, but they've got a lot to learn about hospitality too. Hopefully, they step up their game for the next guests.

We went for a brief bday trip for my daughter. The room was small and simple. Definitely "historic" (read small, oddly weird to get to, a bit dated, and short). The bathroom was TINY. The hotel seemed clean and the bed was comfortable. We were "upgraded" which meant we went to a higher floor which was quiet. All in all, not bad but certainly not what I am used to with modern hotels.

We spent 4 nights here in June 2023, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, the hotel is so central and close to shops and Times Square, The TIK TOK diner next door was one of our favourite haunts and so convenient for delicious food. Hotel fabulous and comfortable.

Arrived late at night to a lovely art deco lobby. Great location and easy access from the airport on the air train to Jamaica station then a train to Penn station which is opposite the hotel. So easy and much cheaper than s taxi! A real good thing is security, asking to see key cards before you go near the lifts to rooms. Great Tik Tok restaurant next door, where the lady who served us was so lovely, and food was great, it’s 24 hour service too. There’s a Starbucks/McDonald’s and liberty Bagels across the street which was great for a morning coffee/snack. Here’s what spoilt our stay- unfriendly staff at reception, barely cracked a smile. When you leave luggage they charge $5 per item, we had small cases and a very light rucksack, which I tied to the top and she charged us €10 as it was classed as 2 pieces. Shocking when you’re a guest at the hotel. I witnessed someone tie theirs with an luggage elastic band and they got away with paying €5. It’s just the principle and not the money for me! We had a basic standard room with not much view, so don’t expect more than 3* and you won’t be disappointed. The room is small but we had a comfy bed and our shower was powerful and hot. The lift area and corridors are a little dark and dingy but not the end of the world as you do just pass through. Would we stay again? Yes but only if it was cheaper than others. The staff could really make the difference with great customer service, but this was something that was really lacking. I would have given 4 stars had the staff been friendly.
