I regret the moment I chose this hotel. Firstly, you will have to wait a lot to get up and down from the room to the Lobby. Secondly, "as a result of COVID-19," you have to request the cleaning each night. The staff is very distracted and very ill-mannered, and they tend to forget you requested the cleaning, even if they make a mistake in that regard, they blame the client. I was specifically told that "if I didn't like the fact that I had to request the cleaning, I should just take it up with the governor". Also, do not expect any of the ice machines to work, so make other plans for ice. The rooftop is also closed (which is something they refuse to admit), so do not get your hopes up. Terrible service and staff which goes beyond COVID. Of course, they will say, all the things that went wrong are a result of COVID, but it does seem like they are trying to cut corners. I would recommend staying in any other hotel for the same price. Despite the location is convenient and central, the hotel is surrounded by trash outside and homeless people, which is something you wouldn't expect from a Hilton. And finally, if you care about social distancing, do not stay in the hotel, as it doesn't impose any distancing of any kind.

Hotel's Favorite
The only thing is they don't enforce masks in elevators, lobby and public areas. At one point, there was probably 50-60 people in the lobby, almost all maskless - kinda scary. Otherwise, they did their best to accommodate our needs. The maintenance guy came to fix the AC within minutes. Value for the quality and location is absolutely amazing! I was super impressed by the isolation. I could barely hear anything from the street, possibly only some really loud ambulances passing by the same street. Would probably stay there again if I come to NYC.

Since I named the title of this review with "Not Thrilled" we'll start here. Arrived on a Wednesday late afternoon, first time in NYC. Wasn't expecting heaps of trash bags in front of hotel on sidewalk. But come to find out that's not too uncommon and it was picked up and gone by morning. FIRST impressions ARE important. 2. Lobby smelled of cigarette smoke and weed. 3. Front desk not as professional as I would have liked but polite. 4. Rooms small, fortunately wasn't too big of a deal for us but needed to mention it. 5. Rooms, hallway, etc could use some maintenance and updating. 6. Restaurant food in hotel well, let me say LESS than par. Our server was FABULOUS and bartender made our drinks perfectly. Chicken wings were so HARD surprised didn't break a tooth. Freezer burned to the core. My husbands eggplant parmesan was mediocre at best. 7. Our last night there security and an employee knocked loudly on our door and said we needed to call front desk immediately regarding a reservation issue. I called, front desk was not very pleasant and said according to our reservation we needed check out. Long story short THEY made a MISTAKE not us!!! Now for the only thing I can say that was positive. Location was pretty good. WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY OR RETURN....NO!!!!

If you are like me and the horrible reviews almost scared you off, I’m here to give you my unbiased opinion of my stay at the Hilton Doubletree Times Square. For context I’m in my late 20s, a solo female travel who has stayed in New York many times as well as many other large metropolitan cities. I arrived at the hotel just before noon after an early flight. The lobby was packed but I realize quite quickly it was just the rush of people trying to check out on time. I dropped my bags off with the bellhop and went for lunch and came back at about 2 PM to check in. I waited in line less than 10 minutes to check in and there was no wait at all for the elevator. My room was very clean, and on a lower floor so I didn’t have to worry about the elevator at all during the stay. As for the size. I’d say it’s pretty on par with most New York hotels. It’s larger than the very tiny rooms you get in the boutique hotels in the area, but smaller than the five star hotels nearby. It was the perfect size for me. I was also pleasantly surprised at the free Wi-Fi, because they say they’re both on said that Wi-Fi was 10$ per day. Housekeeping is on demand but they explained that quite explicitly when I checked in so it didn’t come as a surprise. You do have the option of letting them know when you check in which days you like housekeeping. I declined housekeeping for the week, but they said I could come down and ask for towels every day. As for the location, it is located directly across from the port authority bus terminal. You are minutes from Times Square and plenty of public transit. Despite some of the reviews complaining about vagrants and drug users, it’s actually quite tame for a major city. I am a female and I never felt unsafe walking back to the hotel after dark. It might be shocking for the tourists from tiny towns in the Midwest who travel once every couple years, but if you’ve ever been to a large city you know exactly what the area around a major bus terminal looks like. All in all, for the price I paid I was pleasantly surprised. I booked on a third-party app, and I paid about $100 USD per night. It can’t be beat.

The hotel was conveniently located near Times Sq. and Broadway. As usual their warm famous cookies were delicious!. The rooms are compact, clean and the view was great. It was missing a small fridge, which will be great for the leftovers from dinning out. Should have had 2 bars of soap. One for the sink and one for the shower. Not a huge deal, the elevators were slow. COVID Protocols were in place. Great job hotel staff.
