The best thing I can say about this stay was there were no bed bugs. I travel for a living and often stay at Residence Inns around the USA, and this location was easily THE MOST EXPENSIVE of any city I've stayed in. And, for very cramped quarters which seemed even more so because of the high price waged for staying there. I don't get it. Why is this location so pricey? The Gaslamp Quarter is very popular and there are many bars and restaurants, and subsequent noise and expensive parking.........so there are many challenges to having a good stay. The room was relatively quiet, not much sound from other guests once inside the room. The bed was fine. All the fixtures in the room worked fine. (but the couch is situated under the TV which is on the wall behind the sofa......so how do you watch TV? With a mirror? And it isn't the largest TV, so, viewing it from the bed which is directly across from it makes sense, but the tv is kind of small....). Another negative was in this small room, was the lack of places to store luggage for 2 people. The very small wardrobe with 7 hangers was painfully inadequate for 2 people staying 3 weeks. It's a very busy hotel in a very busy area.

We stayed nearly a week for a conference and appreciated the helpful and happy staff. Breakfast hostesses Paty and Rene served hot breakfast with a smile and kept the area clean and neat. It was so nice to feel welcomed every day, and a nice start to my day.

Had read reviews regarding this hotel about not getting a room on the street side. My wife and I did not heed to the warnings. Both nights were noisy and early mornings. Hotel only has 4 floors...we were on the 4th floor. Great continental breakfast. The staff was just amazing. Thank you

I'm disappointed in this Residence Inn. I always stay at Marriott hotels and this is the first time I was unhappy. Our hotel room wasn't clean. The bed was the only clean thing. All the furniture, mirrors and cabinets were either dusty or had greasy, smudgy fingerprints on them. The shower had hair in it and the soap holder was dirty. You can tell the maid just made the bed, vacuumed, and maybe wiped the inside of the sink and rinsed the tub with water because there was still hair in the tub. There was some type of crust on the small mirror knobs by the sink and the light didn’t even work. I honestly just felt sooo disgusted staying here. I ended up only staying one night and I didn’t shower there because it was gross. Details matter. The whole place needs to be dusted and the furniture and everything wiped down with cleaner, not water. Not sure if I just got a bad room with a lazy maid and the other rooms are better but I won’t chance it. I won’t ever return to this location.

Chose the Residence Inn due to proximity to Petco Park, what a mistake. Took 25 minutes to get a valet parking attendant, the room had a weird layout with noisy barn doors for the bedroom and bathroom, the couch must have been at least 5-10 years old with worn cushions, I had to call for linens for the fold-out couch (even though a got a room for 3 people). When the linens arrived, there was one sheet and the pillow was so thin I had to give my son one of my pillows. And the mattress was so old you could feel the metal of the frame when laying on it. The breakfast the next morning was the worst Residence Inn value I've ever seen. I don't know who owns this property, but Marriott needs to due a better review of their standards. For the $460 I spent for one day, I'll stay with Hilton next time.

Stayed for 6 nights in a 1 BR. Valet tried but they can get overwhelmed. Check-in went fine. Front desk people were friendly and helpful. Room was of good size but definitely needs a refresh. Fraying carpet, desk chair had rips, marred furniture. Only 1 remote for 2 TVs. The kitchen had pretty much everything you would need and worked. Breakfast is 6a-9a and was kept stocked by friendly staff. Good location, easy walk to the convention center. No laundry bags, good thing I brought my own. check out went OK. You will hear everything going on outside even on a high floor so bring ear plugs. Wi-Fi worked fine. Not enough plugs in the bedroom so bring a power strip. I would return.

Location is great, BUT otherwise this location is in desperate need of some caring management and upkeep. Clearly Marriott is not holding franchise properties to any standards. Staff is friendly and helpful, but that only goes so far. Our room was worn out with broken furniture and dirty carpeting. We found all of the dishes left in the dishwasher, which is not a HUGE deal compared to my next example, but I did not get a room to only have to empty the dishwasher from the previous guests. I hardly have the will to do that at home! So while I was looking for the missing bag of sofa bed linen and pillow, I found a long lost pair of dirty underwear from a previous guest. Not like it was stuffed or hidden somewhere, it was on the closet shelf, YUK! Oh, and when they brought up the items needed for the sofa bed and to remove the underwear, it was missing half of what was needed and the pillow had no pillow case. That’s when I gave up! Clearly no one is double checking/inspecting the rooms when they get “cleaned” to make sure everything is all set to go. So, breakfast the next morning was on par with the room condition and it was just poor! Needless to say we had a two night “staycation” planned that we cut short and left early… Not again Marriott, and your about to loose a long time Bonvoy Member!

Run down hotel. Stains on the duvet. Sofa Bed a joke. Not a bed at all. Springs stuck into our 18 yo son. They came and put a duvet on top of the mattress. What a joke. Rooms facing Sixth Ave. VERY noisy with the bars across the street. The music blares and cannot sleep. I will not stay here again...overpriced and totally run down and not comfortable. They should be warning people of the noise across the street if you are facing Sixth Ave. I will be asking for some type of credit. Very disappointing.

I was excited to check into this hotel based on pictures and other reviews . Upon checkin my excitement turned to disappointment and disgust. The room was dirty and unclean. No staff available to reclean at checkin. So much for COVID cleanliness Marriott! The room was not vacuumed , the shower was dirty with past residue from previous tenant. The furniture is very worn, beaten down and unclean . The appliances are also unclean and work down. Nothing about this hotel justifies the room rate on average of $459 per night. The fact that the room was unclean and no one was available to clean is completely unacceptable. No manager on duty and no other rooms available to move to. I am a lifetime Titanium Elite member with Marriott Bonvoy. The last 5-6 stays at Marriott properties are all the same. Not clean , poor service and lack of accountability by management. I will be changing over to Hyatt properties as Marriotts model does not meet their service values. I think there are too many franchise properties that don’t seem to be held accountable to quality.
