We were not lucky enough to be assigned a river view (that's what happens when you book with Bonvoy points) and we had a view to hospital offices and the whirring of ER traffic, resulting in us never opening our curtains during our stay. The decor is very dark to begin with so the room really felt like a cave. I needed my phone's flashlight to see inside my suitcase even with all the lights on. Room was smallish and felt crowded with 3 people and their luggage. The former prison dynamic in the high ceilinged lobby is quaint and cute but it doesn't translate to the room experience being pleasant. The breakfast in the restaurant was very mass produced tasting and yet still extremely pricey for Boston. I would say you're better off to walk a couple of blocks to numerous nearby bakeries and coffee shops. I will say that there is an abundance of shopping and cute wandering right nearby and the valet service was speedy and friendly. I would probably stay elsewhere before going back.…

Not the best of Marriot and unfortunately not a great experience. Stayed for 4 days. Room was dark and dreary with no view. I understand some do have views but if you don't, it really is not worth the stay. Room was not particularly clean and would never heat up. I had a bath but no bubble bath. Towels were not good given it was a luxury hotel. Front desk service was not great, I felt I was an inconvenience when I asked a few questions and certainly not very friendly. The lobby is interesting given it was a jail and the location is not bad, but if you are going to Boston I think the wharf is a better location, and given the dissapointment with this Marriot I would suggest you try another if you are looking for a Marriot. I would not consider this worthy of the luxury collection.…
This hotel was great! It had some great history; the cell, lobby, and bar area were all cool. The restaurant was expensive but you could get most anything covered with the breakfast voucher. It was also in a great location. Check out the unusual door tags. :)
Let me start by saying this hotel is very pet friendly. I love the character of the lobby area even if you do not stay here you should make it a point to visit the lobby what they have done with the former jailhouse is amazing. I stayed over a weekend and it seems during the weekend the hotel lobby is a Boston party hub. The hotel rooms are pretty standard thus the average rating, I did appreciate the hardwood floors in the rooms Unlike the other luxury hotels, I stayed in this particular hotel did not have in-room safes. According to the website Luxury Lodging & Amenities in Boston, MA | Liberty Hotel in-room safes are standard. I told the front desk 3 times that Room 1020 was missing a safe yet I never received the portable safe as promised by the front desk. Fortunately, the weekend went without a hitch; had I traveled with cash or my passport this would have been a major problem. Also, I don’t know if other hotel patrons could hear the continuous "whirl" of the elevators but in Room 1020 I could hear it regularly when I turned the television off. I am not super sensitive to noise but because the lobby was busy the elevators are constantly in use and I noted the constant "whirl" of the elevators in the evening. I don’t know if this sound was specific to this room but I kept the TV playing to drown out the noise. The hotel location is great and provides easy access to the MBTA subway-red line and the Boston Commons and The Union Oyster House are within walking distance.…
Great location. Great atmosphere inside the hotel. Amazing building being a converted jailhouse. Staff all very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Concierge Mark organised us two fantastic family restaurants. Would definitely stay again.
Good hotel, AMAZING STAFF! This is our 3rd time in the hotel in the past 6 months, the facility is great, the rooms are clean and roomy, and the breakfast (at the Klink) is great, but one thing tops it all, and that is the friendliness and willing to assist by the hotel staff. Special shout out to Mirko Bissetta, the amazing head of concierge, who is the most trustworthy and helpful individual. It is people like Mirko who are changing the experience from a regular one - to perfect! Defiantly will come back!
The hotel and entire staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. We’re in town for a funeral and they made the stay seamless for our entire family, many rooms, dogs and special requests. Thank you for making a horrible reason of traveling very pleasant.
A beautiful hotel with incredible architecture especially the lobby of the hotel which shows the courtyard of the old Charles street jail, the hotel lobby is a big highlight of this place and has an awesome vibe to it. Dinner at Scampo downstairs was very good with friends and our room had beautiful views of downtown Boston and the Charles River
Great location and social scene for the person who is interested in that. Great vibes and solid breakfast menu. The room was spacious with a selection of top tier alcohols and snacks for purchase. The beds were extremely comfortable and I slept like a new born. I enjoyed the evening Bar menu vs the regular dinner menu at the restaurant. Pretty spacious workout scene and direct access to Boston Subway. Overall, a great place to spend New Years or host social events.
