Our 10year anniversary came during Covid, so our plans for a trip away will have to be put on hold. Thankfully Mirko and the team at the Liberty made our stay special, and beyond expectations! We were able to enjoy fantastic food and drinks in our room. It was exactly what we needed. Thank you so much to Mirko and the Liberty Team!
This hotel is amazing! The restaurants are fabulous and the architecture is so cool but it is without a doubt haunted. We stayed in room 420 last weekend and I woke up from the most vivid dream I’ve ever had in my life. There was a man on the floor being strangled until he turned blue and then I woke up but I can’t get over how real it was.
The service was terrible, the hotel was dirty, and the price was exorbitant. There was nothing "luxury" about our stay...the beds and bedding were very low quality (less than any Residence Inn I have ever been in), the toilet paper was so thin I could hardly keep it from shredding, the shower was so small that I banged my elbows trying to soap up and could not keep the water from spraying in my face (I am 5'2" and petite) because I could not take a step back out of the water, the glass shower door would not shut all the way and poured water on the floor every time we used it. The toilets flushing were LOUD and LONG and the walls so thin I could follow conversations in the adjoining room. The Clink Bar was out of half the liquors used in the cocktails on the Cocktail Menu and the kitchen was closed when people were arriving and waiting for their rooms to be ready...so, most headed to the bar instead of standing in the lobby only to find most of the cocktails were unavailable as well as any appetizers or nibbles. Considering half the seats were roped off due to Covid, and another third was covered with trash from unbussed tables from lunch, there were few places to sit anyway. We are Platinum Elite and were offered no courtesies...even the ones owed to us like an upgrade in our room, early check-in, etc. We made our reservation over a month in advance and even checked a week prior to check-in and still ended up with the bottom of the barrel...a low floor room with a view of the courtyard. When we protested we were told the hotel was sold out and they could not help us. The breakfast was an "airport style" McMuffin that was microwaved in it's plastic wrap rendering the English Muffin so soggy it fell apart when we opened it. With 2 restaurants and several bars on the property I don't see how you found it impossible to serve a decent sit down breakfast...if you can manage dinner you can manage breakfast. We ordered our car from the valet on your app as instructed ten minutes before heading downstairs and still had to wait in the rain for it to arrive...not at rush times, this was at 1pm. Luxury? You do not know the meaning of the word!…
I don’t often leave reviews but I feel compelled to share my experience at the Liberty. I stayed with my two year old daughter as she had a medical appointment at the hospital nearby. We arrived at the hotel at midnight and (despite having called ahead to check a cot would be in the room), there was no cot in the room. I called reception and one was delivered to my door for me to assemble by myself (which I understand due to Covid precautions is necessary, but still disappointing they didn’t assemble in the hallway). No apology the next day. As our trip was extended we moved to a larger room as the rooms are small. Again, having been assured the cot was ready in the next room, we moved in and there was no cot! On the whole I found the staff unfriendly and abrupt. This is not a hotel I would recommend to families - children seem an inconvenience if anything! I feel the staff are so focused on it being a “trendy” hotel that they have forgotten the core basics of hospitality - such as getting the room ready for guests and making them feel welcome. Having said all of the above, the star of the hotel is Chef Concierge Mirko who was fabulous. He arranged our taxis, always checked in with us to make sure we knew which hospital to go to and have us directions - he was a delight with my two year old and hugely warm and friendly. We will remember him fondly!…
My partner was having major surgery at MGH and I was very scared and dealing with a lot of stress. The Liberty was the perfect place to stay during such hard time. We were able to arrive the day before surgery, have a lovely night's rest and be a 2 minute walk from the hospital when we had to check-in. During Covid - when you aren't allowed into the hospital to visit your loved ones, it was very comforting to know that I was able to be as close as possible. The hotel was SUPER clean and the COVID protocols made us very comfortable. The bed was very, very comfortable and the staff was extraordinary. The head concierge, Mirko, went out of his way to help put a smile on my face and even sent up drink tickets and a note and some flowers. Above and beyond. When my partner was ready to check out I was able to walk and go get him and we were able to walk back to the hotel slowly because it was SO close and despite major surgery it was totally doable. I am so grateful we had this nest to stay in and cannot recommend it highly enough.…
