Hotel Commonwealth provides 5-star quality service and facilities at an affordable rate. It feels like family when you arrive. Front desk staff know your name before you arrive. They are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Thanks, Myron and Nick! Bell staff always greet with a smile and have doors open and ready for you, again remembering your name. Thanks, Frankie! The rooms are spacious, some of the most spacious in Boston with beautiful views of Fenway or Kenmore. The hotel updates are gorgeous and love the added fitness room and the cozy sweatshirt hoodie robes. HC is sandwiched between two of the best restaurants in Boston (Eastern Standard and Island Creek Oyster Bar) and the subway is literally right below. Lots of hot spots within walking distance. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quality hotel during your stay in Boston or even to celebrate for a fun staycation for locals like we did. Also obsessed with the Malin+Goetz hand soap. Using the coupon right away.

I’m a self-proclaimed hotel snob so please take this review to heart. This hotel was hands down THE best we’ve ever stayed at in all of the USA. The staff are helpful but not intrusive, housekeeping is impeccable, the smell as you walk in the hotel is something I wish I could replicate in my own home. I never wanted to leave the room, it was elegant, classy, spotless and fun. Room 532 has a pool table and it kept us entertained for hours. The location can’t be beat and if you have a chance to pick the concierge brain, Nick has wonderful suggestions. I will forever be grateful for the experience at Hotel Commonwealth, it made all my hotel dreams come true.

I have stayed at many hotels and this was by far one of my favorite experiences. The rooms were clean, spacious and ours had a fun view of the street/buildings (which our toddler loved because he could see buses and trucks), but no noise issues. The bed (king) was huge and comfy. The location is great, right next to Fenway and literally right above a T stop (their public transportation) that takes you right downtown in less than 15 minutes. You do not need a car at all in this city but especially at this location. The area felt safe with our family, and was right across the street from Boston University. The staff members were the friendliest I've ever encountered, from the bellman to the valet to the front desk to the housekeepers (who were so sweet to our toddler) and to the manager. Everyone was so accommodating, helpful and made us truly feel like we were welcome. They had umbrellas for rainy days, good breakfast and dinner room service options, a nice lobby with lots of space, tables, etc. that I used to work in after checking out and a place to hold your luggage if needed. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Prior to booking I worked with Paul to figure out a solution for bringing our toddler and staying in the room block/rate of the conference that I was attending. He was really helpful and friendly and helped us get a perfect room with a little extra space for our kid to sleep and then we were able to close a curtain so we could still have tv on and move around after he went to sleep for the night at 8 p.m. I talked to him a few times prior to our stay and the customer service was wonderful.

The Manager Jeff was also awesome - helping my husband set up a late birthday surprise for me with chocolates and champagne. This was really fun to find when we came into our room after a long day of travel. He then helped me on the last day as I left something in the room and was in a rush to get out. It was much appreciated.

My only complaint is that the valet parking is expensive and there isn't really a cheaper garage within walking distance. I believe this is the case for anywhere in the city though!

The location, rooms and level of service from everyone we met made our trip really easy and memorable, and we would definitely stay here again when we're in Boston and highly recommend for anyone visiting (especially with a kid, super child-friendly).

First, we were placed in an "upgraded" room (it was the last room available) that reeked of cigarettes and needed to be extensively cleaned. When we asked to be relocated, we were moved to another "upgraded" room on the other side of the hotel that featured thumping bass through the walls until 2AM on a Sunday night/Monday morning. The amenities fee included a continental breakfast, but when we arrived at the restaurant before 9am on a Monday morning, we were informed that they were "all out" of complementary food. The amenities fee also includes free bottled water, unless you crack open the wrong (and not-well-marked) bottle of water in your room, which comes with an additional $6 charge. Also, half of the front desk staff were quite pleasant, but the other half were nothing short of very grumpy. We got a pretty good deal on the room, but I would still skip this hotel and try another instead.

Cleanliness etc as expected. But run like a discount airline. Got nonrefundable rooms for $84, but the $30 fee (essentially for a bag of fruit snacks, and other things you'd expect to be free like shampoo and television), $58 for parking, and taxes brought the total up to $197. Airbnb around this area appear more expensive than the hotels, but it's worth factoring in the hotels' disingenuous hidden costs before making a decision. Can't find a reason to stay here again.

Terrible experience last night. Booked this hotel because it was so close to Fenway. When I booked directly through the hotel website, I specified that the room was for four people. There wasn’t much available but a suite that “slept four” was available. It showed a king bed with a sofa in the room. The room description was limited but when I read that it slept four, I figured that the sofa was a pull out. When we were checking in we discovered that the room in fact did not sleep four. That the website “just says that because it’s the maximum amount we can legally put in there”. I said ok fine can you put two cots in. I was told it was not an issue. We were headed out to the game so I asked them to bring the beds while we were gone so they would be there when we returned. We were assured this was fine and the beds would be set right up. We came back at about 11:00pm and there were no cots in our room. I called down and was told that actually they can’t put two cots in our room, only one because of a fire hazard and that I needed to pay $35. I was floored but they had us in a tough spot- 11:00 pm with two tired kids what choice did we have. Well, it then took them ONE HOUR to deliver the bed. That’s right. The bed that they had hours to set up didn’t come until midnight. So we had one kid on the cot and the other one in bed with us which made for an impossible nights sleep. To top it off, when we left this morning we were told there were muffins and coffees from 7-11am. We came down at 8:30 and there was coffee but no muffins. When my husband asked where the food was he was told “when we run out we run out” which I guess is understandable but the guy said it in a very rude and dismissive manner. The valet and housekeeping staff were very nice but that was about it. Our room smelled musty, had stains on the carpets but was otherwise clean. This hotel was the biggest waste of money ($800 a night!!) I would NEVER stay here again. There are much nicer and better options in Boston, that actually deliver what they promise to their customers.

Booked this room because of a hotwire deal. This was 1 of our 3 possibility hotels, and I was really hoping I didn't get it, but we did anyways. Check in was fine, the bellman/valet people were very nice, but the room itself was awful. It was as grey, drab and depressing as you can possibly imagine with a widow that overlooked onto another grey, drab building. We were allowed early check in, but when asked if they do discounts for first responders was flat out told, "No." I remember reading on one of the hotel websites, that they gave discounts for first responders, but maybe it wasn't their hotel. Not a single brochure, book, or anything to read in the room itself. There were some small stains on the bedspread that we just overlooked. Location isn't the greatest for sure. I kept plugging in my dates to see which hotels came up for Hotwire, and while the other 2 would change...this one was a constant. I can see why. No charm whatsoever. By the time I paid the $40 parking charge plus the extra facilities fee, I should have just paid a little extra for a hotel I really wanted. It was quiet, and the shower was nice. But that is it.

Dear Brake24, Thank you for your feedback about your recent stay. I am disappointed to see that your time with us fell below expectations. Due to the current pandemic and state guidelines, we have removed all additional items from guest rooms. Although we do not have a first responders discount, the Hotwire rate you booked would have been the lowest rate available. We hope you will be able to come experience Hotel Commonwealth when things are back to normal.

We stayed here for 7 days and we could not have been happier! The hotel is so conveniently located next the T line, BU, and Newberry St. which is lined with excellent shops, restaurants, and beautiful buildings. Our room was very spacious, clean, and modern. The bathroom was incredibly large and the water pressure was the best we've ever experienced.

ALL the staff ( the bellhop (S), the doormen, and esp. the front desk (esp. Nick & Jeff) were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They were able to let us check in at 6:30am (bc we flew in on a red-eye) and let us check out late til 2pm (and even kept our luggage late so we could spend more time in the city before our flight in the evening). They even provided a huge roll-out bed and microwave in our room within minutes of our request (at no charge). And to top it all off, Nick was able to get us reservations at a very popular sushi restaurant for a party of 7 on a Saturday night when there had been none available.

This hotel and its staff are an absolute gem and we highly recommend it! We will definitely be back!

I had a chance to stay at the Hotel Commonwealth this past week. It has always been one of my favorites based on its location and proximity to Fenway Park. I was surprised to find out that the room that I was put in was recently renovated. They did a wonderful job, it was relaxing quiet and just what I needed. I highly recommend that you stay at this property. They are very accommodating and make you feel like they want you as a guest. by the way if you get a chance, slide on down to Eastern Standard and grab some food.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at The Hotel Commonwealth for our mid-winter getaway to Boston. We took advantage of the eStandby Upgrade offer to go from our first choice of a Commonwealth Suite to an Executive Suite. The Executive Suite was on the 4th floor, and proved to be comfortable and quiet. For the most part we enjoyed our stay, but there were a few details that irked us. 1) The elevators needed a tap from a room card to operate. That's fine, but one of the elevators (the one with the baseball theme) did NOT take the card tap, and the first time we used it (when another couple got on with us and wanted a different floor) it went to random stops and at one point delayed for a frightening time before the door opened! Please, Hotel Commonwealth maintenance crew, look into that! Also, there was NO body wash in the shower dispenser, and my husband only found out when he was IN the shower! He ended up washing his body with shampoo! We requested some body wash, and the attendant who delivered to us a half dozen little tubes was very surly and abrupt. Lastly, it would have been nice if the room had been supplied with 2 bathrobes instead of only one, or AT LEAST an additional bathrobe should have been offered at check-in.

Yes as far as I know it's per room per night but if you work with your local travel agent you might be able to get a rate that includes the resort fee.

You can use the 'free' SUV shuttle to get to Brigham and Women's hospital between 7-9 in the morning, since the hospital is within 2 miles' distance. I saw that there is a direct bus route 1.2 miles, every 20 minutes, as well. Otherwise, you might take the T, but it would likely be indirect. Uber would be the ultimate convenient choice, other than the SUV ride in the morning. Book the SUV the night before at the front desk.
