Went to Boston for the day and decided last minutes to stay the night seeing how we had tickets for a show at the Royal. This hotel was our choice due to the location. It was our first time at a Moxy and was pleasantly surprised with the vibe of the staff, decor, rooms; layout and functionality of rooms as well as building. From the moment we checked in we knew we made the right choice the staff was welcoming and had such pleasant demeanor. The rooms were not as loud as some of the reviews had mentioned but it was a Weeknight and we were on the 23rd floor. We did not need to use earplugs. The morning cafe was perfect, superior service again! The counter help at cafe suggested some breakfast items and reassured us that the hotel complimentary coffee is good. IT was very good coffee and the avacado toast was the best, it’s made fresh. We were able to check out with ease and able to pull the car up to the main door to load and unload without fear of being in the middle of the road. The hotel had a parking QR code with a flat rate of $40 self parking but you can go in and out if you need to for the one fee: We actually parked right across the street from the concert venue it was closer and same fee but cannot leave and Renter for that flat rate. Hope that is helpful info. The rooms were very clean and the water in shower was hot. What I liked the most was the floor to ceiling windows in lobby and cafe as well as rooms. The windows project a image that you are outside, you do not feel so trapped. Great spots to sit and work, read, chat with coworker or friend and have natural light. I recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again. Modern, trendy, clean, great background music, and easy to get from your room back down to the street. Some hotels are just too big and can be a project just getting out the door; this is street access friendly. Give it a try!!!

The Moxy Downtown Boston is in a great location to explore Boston. While we enjoyed the hotel, I am sure it is not for everyone. Room was nice and the bed was very comfortable, but it was extremely small and sparsely furnished. Instead of bureaus or a closet, there were pegs on the walls to hang your belongings. I did not mind this, but it would have been nice to have a luggage rack for our suitcases.
The bathroom was very nice with a large walk-in shower. The rooms do not have microwaves, Keurig or refrigerators. There is a community ironing board in the hallway.
We were each given drink coupons to use in the bar for a limited selection of beverages. Also we were given a $25 per night coupon to go towards food-we were told this was to offset a Boston tax. We used the coupons for breakfast which was decent.
One thing I really did not like was they had items in the room that were for sale. One was a tote with a hefty price tag. The other was bottles of water that were approx $8 each.
In summary: Positives: Location, Cleanliness, Comfortable bed Negatives: Very loud music plays continuously in the lobby and bar area; Nowhere to put luggage; no recognition of Platinum status; upselling items in the hotel room.

Greetings, we appreciate you taking the time to make such a comprehensive review of your stay at Moxy Boston Downtown. Please know your feedback is invaluable to us in our continuous pursuit of service excellence. It's rewarding to know that you enjoyed our prime Boston location and found the cleanliness of our facilities up to standard. We're also glad that our comfortable beds added to your experience. However, we acknowledge your points about the room size and layout, as it seems some elements of the minimalist design did not fully meet your needs. Also, we appreciate your suggestion for a luggage rack and we'll give consideration to its implementation. Our bathrooms are indeed designed with luxury in mind and we're glad you found them to be satisfactory. We understand the convenience that in-room appliances like microwaves and refrigerators provide, and while we do not offer these in our rooms, we'll definitely take note of it for future considerations. The use of the provided drink and meal coupons at our bar and for our breakfast service is a testament to our dedication to providing some added value to your stay, and we're happy to hear you took advantage of them. Lastly, the ambiance and music in the lobby and bar area aim to create a lively and social atmosphere. However, we understand that it may not be for everyone and we're sorry if it was not to your liking. We want to assure you that recognition of our guests' status, such as the Platinum status you've mentioned, is important to us and we regret that your status was not sufficiently acknowledged during your stay. Furthermore, you mentioned the presence of "for sale" items in the room, including the tote bag and water bottles. This is part of our approach to providing convenience. We understand, however, that their presence may have contributed to a sense of upselling. Thanks for raising this point; we'll reassess how we present these items. We value your thorough review and look forward to integrating your feedback into our continuous effort to improve. It was our pleasure to have you as a guest and we hope to serve you better in the future.

Moxy was a unique experience! It’s unlike any hotel I have stayed at before. It’s definitely trendy with of cool artwork throughout the hotel and rooms. We stayed on the 16th floor and had the most amazing view of the city.
The room was very modern, but I only wish it had your standard dresser/desk to put your belongings on….or even a closet instead of just hooks on the wall. There was a foldable, round table hanging on the wall (really taking modern to the next level!), and we had to take that table off the wall to use it, but it wasn’t large enough for my belongings. The room WAS very clean, and I appreciate that more than anything, and the bed was comfortable.
There are hidden destination fees when you arrive and check in, but they basically make up for it by giving you each a $35 voucher to use at their restaurant/bar. We used it on breakfast (which came under $35 for two) and drinks/snacks.
There is also a parking garage two blocks over that was $40 a day.

My husband and I spent one night in a city view guest room with one queen bed. Though I was aware from the website that this was a 150 square foot space, it somehow felt even smaller than that.
Our room was clean and modern, with comfortable bedding and mattress. Missing, however, were many of the features that are basic even in budget hotel/motel rooms. There was no table, no closet, and not a single drawer. In the room description online, it lists a moveable desk. I am guessing that they are referring to a small metal stool, which was under the bathroom sink. There was no safe. I was told that some were available at the front desk, for which one would be given a key. The only mirror was in the bathroom, above the sink. Because I am on the shorter side, it was pretty much useless to me.
The designers made clever use of the largest wall in the room. On it were a luggage rack and a folding chair, both folded up and suspended over bars. After using the luggage rack to remove a couple of items from our small carry-on, we immediately returned the rack to the wall. There just was no spot to leave it open. Also on that wall were three hangers on dowel style hooks.
For a quick overnight trip with very little luggage, this room would be okay. For longer stays, I would highly recommend paying the up charge for one of the larger corner rooms.

The design choices for maximizing space were thoughtfully noted. We appreciate your feedback regarding the amenities and will take it into account as we continuously strive to improve. Booking this hotel was a mistake for my type of travel, so if you are similar I would recommend something else. I am in my 50's and appreciate modern styling, but ultimately just want a relaxing place to sleep at night.
This was the loudest hotel I have ever stayed at in 30 years of business and personal travel. Hands down, crazy loud. Bedside earplugs and white noise machines as standard room amenities? Wow!
The $35 daily destination charge and credit for on-site food was ultimately an expensive annoyance. The food was convenient but over-priced and there are many food options within a few block radius of this location. Example is breakfast, there is a Panera across the street, but I used the full $35 credit for breakfast several times simply because I couldn't split up the $35 across multiple purchases, so I loaded up on really expensive snack bars and $4 waters. Panera was under $10 for breakfast and was actually faster. You are spending your own money with this $35 "credit".
The hotel was clean and the price was a little less than nearby Marriott properties, but ultimately not a good choice for my type of travel.

Drive2019, it seems like the vibrant atmosphere wasn't quite the relaxing experience you were looking for. The feedback regarding the room amenities and dining options is important, and adjustments are always considered to enhance guest satisfaction. Cleanliness and competitive pricing are valued here, though it's clear the hotel's style didn't align with your preferences. Thank you for sharing your insights.

This hotel is a near-perfect location to explore Boston and its Freedom Trail. It's a shot walk to Boston Common and beyond.
The rooms are small, but well-deigned and make the most of the space through design touches like pegs on the wall, sliding bathroom door, etc.
It has a hip and cool vibe and all the staff we met were friendly and customer-focused. There were a variety of complimentary doughnut on check-in and some other snacks available for purchase.
There's a bar, lots of common space to work at, which is good because at least out room had no desk (1806). We used a $35 voucher at the bar to order breakfast tacos that arrived quickly and were good. I think I got that for being a Marriott Rewards platinum member.
Parking is a couple blocks a way a a rate of $40 per day.
Outside noise was little loud but after 10 pm it subsides.
I'd stay here again.

My wife and I will definitely be staying at The Moxy next time we’re in Boston. Upon arriving we met Carlos and Youseff who got us checked in fast and efficiently. They were both so kind and personable. They truly made us feel welcome and at ease. We immediately knew we were in good hands and that if we had any issues at all, we could rely on them to help us out. The amazing service we received from them is really what cemented us as future guests. To top it off, all the other staff members we encountered (in the hallways, elevator, etc) were all really friendly.
The room was clean and nicely updated. It was small but there were a bunch of hooks on the wall so we were able to get all crap (jackets, bags, etc) 100% out of the way so the room was completely decluttered. It’s a genius idea. I wish more hotels had that! Oh and Carlos hooked us up with a room on the 21st floor so we had an awesome view. The bar area was cool too!

Based on the glowing reviews here I expected a much higher level of customer service than what I actually experienced during my 2 night stay. My check in was brief and impersonal with no rundown of hotel amenities or welcome. The rooms are absolutely tiny, you’d be very hard pressed to fit two adults and their luggage in one. The bathrooms are actually pretty well sized in comparison but the lighting is so poor I had to do my makeup sitting on my bed by the window. The breakfast service was very good with better than expected food quality. The location was extremely convenient and on the 19th floor the street noise wasn’t too bad at night despite being close to a major hospital. Overall this was a pretty unremarkable stay and I felt very ready to leave after 2 nights in my tiny room.

MichiganderAbroad, Thank you for sharing about your recent experience with us. It's regrettable to hear that your visit did not fully meet your expectations, particularly in relation to the quality of our customer service upon check-in. We understand the importance of a warm, informative welcome and we're sorry if it fell short during your stay. We sincerely regret the inconvenience you faced regarding the lack of space in the rooms. The design set for our rooms aims to maximize the functional use of space and provide comfort, however, we understand how this might not have been suitable for your needs. The same design language extends to our well-sized bathrooms, where we appreciate your feedback about the lighting; we'll certainly look into improving it to better cater to the requirements of our guests. On a more positive note, it's delightful to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast service and found the food quality better than expected. We continuously strive to offer exquisite food experiences and glad to know we hit the mark for you. We're extremely pleased to hear you found our location convenient and that the 19th floor afforded a respite from the street noise despite being close to a major hospital. We're located in a strategic area where our guests can explore the city with ease - we're glad this worked out well for you. Nevertheless, it's disconcerting to hear that overall, you found your stay unremarkable. Our goal is to ensure all our guests enjoy a memorable visit, so it's disappointing to know we may have not achieved this in your case. Your feedback helps us improve and we sincerely hope that you would give us another chance to show you the unparalleled service and facility we're known for.

The Moxy in Boston, near Chinatown, is one of many recent "hip" hotels that subsitutes "cool" for comfort and service. It's all style and not much else. The rooms are small and poorly appointed, with no room to store or hang up clothes except for pegs on the wall and no room to put a suitcase. The windows are poorly insulated so there is lots of street noise coming through. No coffee maker, but there are "resuable" metal waterbottles you can buy for $7 to feel good about your environmental footprint.
The breakfast/bar asks you to imput your order into a touchscreen and then tell it all again to the server, who then needs a phone number and a name so you can get pointless text messages telling you your food is ready about 3 seconds before he brings it to you. In a pizza box (so, the sustainability thing is a bad hipster joke).
All in all, sure, you can stay here. It's convenient and the bed is comfy. But I'm so sick of all the style and trendiness (old sports equipement as furniture: so 2010) when all you want is a quiet room, decent service, and maybe a couple of hangers.

The room was tiny and had no closet, no drawers or shelfs to put anything. There were pegs on the cement wall that held 3 hangers, a metal chair, a little round table & another item to sit on. If we opened up & used the table or chairs there was little space left to walk in the room. We had to stack our clothes on the top of our suitcase.
The hotel is in the theater/arts district and it is a vibrant active loud area with clubs & restaurants open nearly all night. Earplugs were provided in the room to help cover up the noise. We had planned on s 4 night stay & brought our work laptops on the trip because we planned on working out of the hotel on Friday. There was no dedk or anywhere to set up and work in the room. There are no ice machines on the hotel floors - you have to go to the front desk to request a bucket of ice. (We are not accustomed to a need to do this & prefer the self-serve convenience on the floor). This hotel & part of downtown is probably better suited for the 21-35 age-group. We are in our young 60s and prefer a quieter atmosphere with a comfortable bed, roomy room with a desk (work space), where we can unpack our clothes and have them out of sight in a closet and drawers.
We arrived after 11pm on a Thursday and checked out before noon on Friday. Our 1-night stay cost just over $350. It is hard to pay that much for so little. (Note: the only nice feature of our Moxy room was the walk-in shower). We moved to a very nice hotel in the historic district for our remaining 3 days in Boston. The historic hotel met ALL our needs and cost about $100 less a night.
