Hotel is well set up for business with plenty of staff, all of whom were efficient and courteous. The valet was truly a wizard packing our car when we left (we had an extra person plus suitcase to fit in our Accord, which also houses a wheelchair). My daughter left an item in the room, called the next day, and received her item promptly at a fair price. Location has many restaurants nearby within easy walking distance. Room very comfortable, and we received daily housekeeping. An area for improvement: ballrooms had poor to no Wi-Fi. I was dreading an event in SF and was pleasantly surprised (although your wallet will suffer; everything v expensive). Well done, SFMM.
This is our 2nd time staying here and this time all the rooms have been renovated in a neutral soft taupe color. Our 2 queen beds in room 2955 was very comfortable and bed linen was good quality. It had a city view but mostly of roofs of other nearby buildings. Lighting in the room is plenty and lots of outlets …especially by bedside which is a plus. There is a little fridge which is so convenient and coffee and teas are provided daily. There are 2 water machines on lobby level which you can use to fill up your own bottles. The water is by reverse osmosis and it tastes fantastic…cold too. There are 6 elevators and 5 are always operating and there is hardly any wait time given that the hotel is very busy during our visit in August. Airline crews also use the Marquis lime JAL and others. The hotel is hopping with people coming and going but security is positioned at front door to ensure guests safety. The hotel is so well situated…Trader Joes across the street, Target across the street, 2 Starbucks across the street ..one on Mission and 4th and the other on Market and 4th. Of course, Union square is only a few minutes walk. Shopping is abound…Nordstrom Rack, Westfield Mall, Macy’s, Neimans, Bloomingdale’s, and Chinatown. Cable car terminus at Powell is a 5 minute walk as well. If you walk 3 blocks on Market, there is a McDonalds ..large coffee is $1.89 and big breakfast is $6.69. Staff at the Marquis are extremely friendly and helpful. You feel valued and appreciated. Housekeeping does a great job in keeping the rooms immaculately clean. Now, the hotel does charge a destination fee of $25 daily but you may use the $25 on food and drinks anywhere in the hotel restaurants. You must use it daily so no accumulation permitted. In addition, they give you a few freebies like 2 stainless steel water bottles, 4 cable car tickets worth $32, one specialty coffee daily, 2 hour free bike ride at Fisherman Wharf. Remember to claim your daily $25, it must between 12 noon to 12 noon and you must charge it to your room. Food is not cheap at the hotel…buffet breakfast us $35 before taxes per person, dinner entrees at B55 restaurant ranges from $22 to $50 an entree. We usually grabbed our food and coffees from the Mission Pantry starting at 6:30 am until at least 10:30 pm. Burger is $12.59, pizzas $18, salads about $13, baked goods about $4.50. Large coffees are $5 which is the same price as Starbucks. Their little dessert tarts are delicious at $5 …mango cheesecake is delicious. The Pantry even has a microwave in the seating area you can use but it is not the cleanest. Daily cleaning of the microwave would be needed especially during Covid. We would definitely return to the Marquis on our next visit …thank you to all the awesome staff at this property.…
Not safe, the staff is rude. Rooms smell bad, homeless people wondering the hotel. They simply do not care. When I talked to the manager John Anderson, he was rude and aggressive. The entire ground of the building is unsafe.
A solid hotel in a great location. The hotel is huge and I recommend booking a room with a high floor so you can get great views of the city. I believe large parts have been refurbished, so my room seemed new and was bright and airy. Overall it is a solid Marriott property.
fist the costumer service its the worst second the bar in the 39 flour its the worst i went to the bathroom and before of that i asked the waitress to show me the bathroom after one min my table was gone and i asked the manager for the restraint and he was so aggrieve so that was my exp
I would have given them 5 stars, because their staff was AWESOME, but one night, I went to The View Lounge and THEY CHARGED ME $69 FOR ONE GLASS OF KENDALL JACKSON WINE without ever seeing a menu, or any warning. I know SF is expensive to visit, but this was RIDICULOUS!! I doubt that I will ever pay that much for a single glass of wine in my life again. Marriott? Don't do that to your guests!
When I booked this hotel, through the Bonvoy App, I did not realize that my Marriott Credit card had outdated information. Thus, when my son was the first to check in, he had to provide a debit card for incidentals. Subsequent to that, I gave them my updated credit card so that they could use it for any costs incurred. When we checked out, electronically, we never received the usual emailed summary of charges/bill. I didn’t think anything of it, although that has never happened before. Now, two weeks later Marriott has charged my son’s debit card and phoned my husband to say we have an outstanding bill. When I called to inquire, they refuse to provide me with a copy of the bill. What?!? Why? My son is unable to use his debit card due to this pending charge. I am willing to pay what is owed but I would like to see a bill so that I can ensure they are legitimate charges. I was given an email address to request a bill but still no reply. We have lodged a dispute with our bank for the debit card charges but this is ridiculous. Show me the bill!…
This a not a great hotel. It’s way too big and struggles to live to its 4 star billing. For example - have you ever been to a 4 star hotel that has no room service? Like no in room dining at all? If any SF I am sure there are much better options. The rooms themselves are fine.
Clean hotel and pleasant staff, but like all Marriott properties way overpriced for what they offer. No room service. Top of the town lounge remains closed. Worst policy for tacking on extra charges. Internet is a fee, and then they hit you with a $25/day connivence fee that forces your to eat and drink in the hotel to get the connivence of that CHARGE back. This where the buffet is $40!
Stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting San Francisco and hotel was great. Check in was quick and staff very friendly. Room was a good size and very clean. Hotel has a nice indoor roof top bar with superb views. Location is good for cable car and visiting Fisherman's Wharf and other tourist attractions. Nothing to do with hotel but be prepared for a lot of homeless people on streets. Check out was quick and seemless. Recommend staying here if visiting San Francisco.
