My husband and I enjoyed a 3 night stay over Valentine's weekend. We stayed in a bay view room that was well worth the money. The views were amazing and the room was very large and comfortable. When we arrived our first evening we were jet lagged and hungry. We ordered room service and asked for an electric tea kettle for some tea I brought with us. I drink tea nightly and housekeeping noted my request for a tea kettle and made sure each night I had fresh teacups, honey, and sugar. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels but the Loews Regency had the most kind and attentive staff. Everyone was friendly and willing to go above and beyond for us. We loved our stay and would definitely stay their again when we return to San Francisco.

For those who know SF, this is a fairly new property, opened during the pandemic, in the space that used to be Loew's, which used to be a Mandarin Oriental. The location is nice because it's fairly discrete and set slightly back. When you walk in, it's clear that this hotel's restaurants are intended almost exclusively for guests. The lobby is small, the restaurant is pretty simply laid out, and the bathrooms (one each for men and women) must be unlocked with your room card to open them.

We were given a room on an upper floor with a fantastic view of the bay. Everything still felt new and fresh, and they provide thoughtful amenities like fruit.

Service was classic Four Seasons service - friendly, attentive, efficient and helpful. I spent a couple hours in the bar area with a friend, having coffee in the mid-afternoon, and someone checked in on us every so often, and we were never made to feel like we were overstaying. Whereas many places would have put us at a table for two (even if the place was empty as it was when we were there), they gave us a large booth that was big enough for us to sit slightly apart (which is always welcome in these pandemic times).

The only complaint we had was that we had a clunky air conditioning unit that rumbled like a fog horn in the room a couple times during our stay. To be fair though, we didn't say anything until we were checking out because we only stayed one night. I imagine they will attend to it, but it was a reminder of how old the building itself is.

The property had clearly been planned pre-pandemic when SF was bursting at its seams. I really hope that they will be able to make it.

I used to stay at the Palace Hotel whenever I wanted a little staycation, but it feels like all of the luxury fell out of the Palace and poured into The Four Seasons.

Four Seasons is where you want to stay if you want to feel doted on; they lavish you with customer service from the moment you pull up. Attention to detail is still a priority and you see that from the little chocolates that greet you in your room to their in-dining table service. Room Service for breakfast did not take long, it arrived with all the flatware, linen napkins and condiments you could ever hope for.

I stayed in the one bedroom suite and the room was immaculate; clean, not dusty and no mold in the showers. The view of the GGB, Coit Tower, and Alcatraz were stellar. I watched the fog roll in every evening. I never heard a peep from any of the other neighbors whilst in my room.

And the entire time I never heard one damn person say, "due to COVID, inflation, shortage of labor..."

That doesn't mean those things aren't affecting them. But, they're putting on the type of show that used to exist in hospitality where the customer is totally sheltered from how the sausage is made. If you want to feel like royalty (or a celebrity, which is the US' version of royalty)...come to the Four Seasons.

We stayed here for an anniversary. The rooms had a great view of the bay but the bathrooms are smaller than the usual four seasons bathrooms. This was our first visit to a hotel during Covid. None of the hotel restaurants were open and we had to eat in the room for our meals. Normally we had breakfast included with the AMEX platinum package which meant unlimited capuccinos, but with room service, you were charged for each one plus the food quality isn't the same. The lunch in the room was better than the breakfast. The location is close to the water so it's nice to get out to the restaurants along the waterfront. The gym was small but empty. The corridor connecting the two towers gives nice views of the TransAmerica building.

I have been here twice in two months the first time was what I thought was nice but didn't realize they never explained any of the amenities to me. They literally made us check in not explaining anything and sent us to our bridge to bridge view room($550) the second time our friends met us here.. they were informed of all the amenities and we weren't aWare of any! They have a courtesy luxury car that they never told us about! JULIAN THE FROMT DEsk REP from the night shift on 1/10/20 was extremely rude and disrespectful! He argued with us and gave us a aggressive look.. the bar closed at 11:30pm because it was slow when it says it closes at 12am! This is a rip off not worth $4-700 a night

With the Four Seasons name and this wildly photogenic location going for it already, this property comes with serious expectations. Luxury? Sure. Beauty? Of course. Individualized attention? Absolutely.

But what made my stay at the Four Seasons at Embarcadero truly indelible was the sense of intimacy that’s so often lacking in high-end hotel chains. Book this hotel and you’ll be perched high amidst the iconic architecture of San Francisco—either nestled in fog or bathed in sunlight, with bridges and water and City all around—but you’ll feel like you’ve found the world’s fanciest secret getaway.

There are no long, dreary hallways here, nor is there a colossal, intimidating lobby. The scale is akin to a private club... a boutique hotel, essentially, but with the resources and experience of a global chain to draw from to perfect the experience.

The small army of staff that makes this place run so seamlessly manages the fine balance of attentiveness without intrusiveness, making you feel looked after rather than watched.

Furnishings and materials are all first-rate, as you’d expect. Everything you see, everything you touch has been considered and made beautiful. Room service was wonderful (if you’re like me, lingering over a full breakfast in your room is an irresistible indulgence).

If you’re in the mood to explore the city, access to public transportation could hardly be easier—exit the front door, turn left, walk a couple of blocks, and you’re at the Montgomery St. BART station.

The Four Seasons is not bashful about pricing… but, considering the incomparable location, the refinement of the service, and the utter beauty of the property itself, it’s a bargain. Easily my favorite hotel in San Francisco.

Highly recommended.

Four Seasons’ two San Francisco hotels [Market Street, and ‘Embarcadero’ on Sansome] both get it right in the little and the big things.

Front desk staff are always friendly, helpful and thorough. They found me a room for early check-in at noon so I could change and go hiking with friends. Same for the doormen- Rolando greeted me by name each day. Embarcadero rooms are bright & sunny, with beautiful views of the city and the bay. Blackout curtains if you need to sleep off jet lag. Every room I’ve stayed in has been spacious with couch, worktable, 2 chairs, coffee table, and ottoman. Plenty of lights for reading and plenty of outlets for your devices. Large room safe. And while at most hotels I have to ask for more hangers, that’s never the case here. Room has a coffee/espresso maker, and they thoughtfully provide an electric kettle so tea doesn’t taste like coffee. Housekeeping does a thorough job twice a day [don’t forget to tip the hardest working folks in any hotel :) The gym is one of the largest & best equipped hotel gyms I’ve ever seen, and there are Equinoxes and Orange Theory nearby. [Market Street property has an attached Equinox with free admission for hotel guests at that property.]

This hotel was a great base for us as visitors in San Francisco. The location is close enough to walk to Chinatown, SF MOMA, the Ferry Building, etc. and we felt totally safe during the day. We took Uber at night as our dinners were a little farther away. We upgraded to a Bay View room and enjoyed watching the boats come and go and the ever-changing sky from the 44th floor. The room was spacious, spotless and comfortable with a nice seating area and table by the window. Bathroom was modern. We had some loud neighbors one night and heard a lot of door slamming, but otherwise had a nice sleep. The view from the Skywalk on every floor is amazing as well, and it's a great way to take in a 360 view if you don't want to pay extra. Because of Covid, the restaurant and bar is not yet open but it looks like a lovely space. We were very happy with our stay here and would recommend.

I am still thinking about my stay opening weekend at the FS Embarcadero. Safety is a priority during the pandemic, and was pleased to see the hotel has instituted protocols thru Lead with Care (Johns Hopkins). Temperature checks on arrival with PPE kits in the room. The hotel occupies the top 12 floors, so breathtaking views are all around. There is a sky bridge on the top floor, which has panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower and Alcatraz.

Room and bathroom were spacious and soothing.

A great location as a starting point to explore the city by foot or navigate by car.

If borders are remain closed for international travel, then SF will be my go to city and there is no hotel I would rather stay than here.

Thank you for a rejuvenating stay.

Reservations booked for December.

We’ve been regulars at the other Four Seasons on Market [outstanding hotel!] for 8 years. Now that Four Seasons has taken over this property as well [was a Mandarin, then Loews] we decided to give it a try. We weren’t disappointed.

Location: terrific with spectacular views. Hotel is top 11 floors of a 48 story building. Convenient to Embarcadero, Chinatown, BART, and amazing restaurants [Yank Sing, Mr. Ju’s, Piperade, Kokkari] Quieter neighborhood than the Market St FS.

Gym: standard hotel gym. [Note Market FS guests have free access to that building’s Equinox,. But there is an Equinox across the street from this hotel, and a Planet Fitness less than a block away.

Staff: everyone is so helpful, kind, and efficient. From doormen who let our daughter park and visit, cheerful front desk, outstanding housekeeping, security who organized the freight elevator relays when passenger elevators broke down.

Rooms: spacious with spectacular views of Bay Bridge, SalesForce, Coit & TransAmerica towers. Well laid out, plenty of workspace, outlets, minibar, coffee maker, and hot pot to make tea, well stocked with coffee pods and teas. Terrific bathrooms have 2 sinks, walk in shower and full sized bath with a view. Housekeeping did an absolutely awesome job – remembering everything each day keeping the room in check-in condition [don’t forget to tip the hardest working folks in the hotel :)

Checkout was fast and bill was mostly accurate, but they forgot 1 mini bar charge so I’m expecting a revision email.

Downside: Hotel was designed with only 2 elevators for I’m guessing north of 150 rooms. So even when both are working you have to budget in some wait time at peak periods. And they both failed twice during our visit. Staff was outstanding: seemed like all hands on deck organizing relays on the single set of freights that required a maze like walk and elevator change somewhere around the 30th floor. We considered it a bonus backstage tour, but luckily we didn’t miss any appointments, reservations.

I am unsure on that BUT if you call the Hotel directly I am sure they can clarify the policy. The hotel is extremely beautiful and has the best views in SFO so try to work out the credit card thing. You are smart to figure it out now and I am sure you can work the hold out where it will work for you. You are going to love your time at the hotel and in SFO. Cheers.

Hi, I can’t remember about the taxes exactly but I’d count on them charging extra. And they put a hefty hold on our card too during check in as standard policy. That aside, the service is truly 5 star. My favorite hotel. There’s no airport transport, but you can have the front desk arrange for a driver to take you wherever you’d like as long as one is available. We had one for a 6 hour city tour. Drops you off and picks you up while you sightsee. Takes your pictures for you and everything lol. It was the best part of the trip.
