Detailed Reviews
Pros:
Free Parking!!!
Friendly Staff
Free Coffee and Tea comes in handy
Cons:Walls are thin
S/C/V
Security: Exits marked, Card Key entrance to rooms
Cleaniness: Very Clean
Value: to be quite honest for the price i paid to be in SF peninsula and free parking it was worth it.
***Something you all should know. This is a Motel and not a Hotel.
People: Whats the difference between and Motel and a Hotel?
Me: About $100
Here is the difference Hotels are places that offer amenities for possible longer stays ranging in prices of $150+ Destination resorts $300+ Lux Resorts $800+ Hotels prices should be reflective of what is being offered to people and how much they are willing to cater to your every reasonable need for the money you pay.
Motels have bee designed to be for short stays, and yes sometimes by the hour. Motels filled a need for basic accommodation and no frills. $40-$125
SF INN is a Motel
It is a clean, properly furnished basic room. Shower/Toilet/TV/Bed/AC unit. It is NOT a hotel with valet service, Eames furniture, 600 thread count sheets, and 42" LCD TV.
So here is why i gave it a very good score for a Motel
Free parking! If you search around and look at parking rates in SF it goes from $35-$75(valet) per day! So if you rent a car it hurts twice as much everywhere else. This was the biggest + in my book, SF is great in the city but what if you want to go to Legion Hall? Napa Valley? Shopping outlet? you need a car.
I don't ask a lot from a motel and honestly neither should you. the Security of the building was key card access with is more that i can say for a lot of motels. Exits are clearly marked and i didn't feel i was in danger. As for the room its self, yeah it could use a refresh, the design of the char doesn't match the entertainment cabinet and the wall paper in the room does match the color of the bathroom wall.....but who cares! The bed was soft, clean sheets, good pillows, trash emptied, extra toilet paper, toiletries. Its a basic room....you know to sleep in. As for the Value aspect, for the price i found it for was reasonable and the free parking was too good to pass up. So yes i recommend it for what it is a Motel. I'm not gonna knock the motel for the homeless people that walk around, the number of emergency vehicles blaring down the road, people who don't know what a acceptable level of volume for a TV is. Those are things a business CANNOT control. But you can control where you place your comfort, safety, money.

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We truly appreciate the time you took to share your experience at SF Inn. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the positive aspects of your stay. We're thrilled that our free parking, friendly staff, and complimentary coffee and tea added value to your experience. Your understanding of the distinctions between motels and hotels, and your appreciation for the affordability and amenities we offer, is heartening. Your feedback on security, cleanliness, and the overall value is invaluable. We take pride in providing a safe and secure environment for our guests, and we're pleased to know that you felt comfortable during your stay. While we acknowledge the room could benefit from a refresh, we're delighted that the essential aspects, such as the bed, clean sheets, and amenities, met your expectations. Your understanding of the limitations of a motel in a bustling city like San Francisco is spot-on, and we appreciate your realistic perspective. We also appreciate your recommendation and hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again if your travels bring you back to the area

I stayed in this inn for 5 days while attending the Game Developer's conference in Moscone center in 2014. This place is about 25 mins walking from the conference and city center and has a number of bus stops around - so you can easily hop on buses which come around every 12-15 mins or so.
On the outset, this inn is pretty good value for money. While everything was expensive around the conference, this place was reasonably priced.
The rooms are good - my room was a bit oddly shaped - with the table jutting out - but as such, it was clean and the beds are really comfortable.
They have a mini refrigerator and microwave in the room along with tea and coffee maker. They also have a vending machine - but that is only for soft drinks and water.
They have breakfast in the morning - cornflakes, juice, packed, coffee, packaged danish pastries which you can take in a tray to your room.
As such, this is high value for money in a place like San Francisco and I had a comfortable stay.
They had old CRT TVs and also a decent internet connection. I was able to get most of my work done thanks to this.
The bathroom was of a decent size and clean. The shower pressure was also average. A little more water pressure would be ideal.
However, this is NOT a stay throughout the day place. You will be disappointed if you plan to stay in the inn all day. This is mostly a leave-in-the-morning-and-come-at-night place.
My schedule was exactly this - so I had a comfortable stay.
Security wise, the rooms are protected by a gate which can be opened via key card along with separate access to your room. The streets outside are mostly empty - but you don't feel unsafe. I was able to walk back to my room one night at around 10ish without feeling unsafe.
There are however a few things that you must know.
1. Throughout my stay, there was some road construction happening right outside. They would start at 7 am and it was loud. However, I would be gone by 8 - so this did not affect me much. But this could affect you if you plan to stay longer. Hopefully they get done soon.
2. There are very few places to eat around here. Except for a sushi place, I think most of the places were around 3 - 4 blocks away.
3. There is a Trader Joe just 2 blocks away on 11th street. I stocked up on some water and other things from here. If you prefer bottled water, I'd recommend the same.
4. If you are getting breakfast, I'd recommend getting it before 8:15am. Primarily because the trays get over (they are in short supply) and you will have a difficult time carrying your food upstairs in your arms.
Minor peeve:
On the day I arrived (after a 22hr flight), there was some work happening outside - due to which there was no water. I was told by the front desk staff that it would be back in about 45 mins. When it wasn't back after an hour an a half, I inquired - but was greeted by a "Oh. We were told 45 mins and it isn't back - so there is nothing I can do about it."
While I agree there was nothing they could do about it, it could possibly be handled a little better. I felt that the front desk staff was apathetic towards my situation and didn't really care.
Once when I reached breakfast at 8:45, the trays were over (see #4 above), the staff was like: "All the guests took it. <shrugs and goes back to the computer>. Sorry"
Again, it felt very apathetic.
In conclusion:
I would still rate this place a 4 because it is really good value for money. Some of the staff can be a little apathetic - which prevented me from rating it a 5 - but otherwise it is a good stay if you're looking for a comfortable and safe place to sleep and within a mile from the city center.

So, its a small place, the rooms are crowded, but they are very clean. We had a problem with water that leaked from a wall heater and soaked the carpet. We were moved to another room without hesitation. Very friendly staff. Nice that the parking was included for our rental vehicle.

We stayed one night in the San Francisco Inn as we had an early flight the next morning. The Inn is centrally located with easy access to route 101 South towards the airport. Quick check-in and was lucky to get car parking which is on a first come basis. Room was smelly with dated decor. Several lamps had broken shades, carpet not vacuumed properly. Bathroom and shower clean but only a handtowel and small towel provided. No large towels. Room had coffee maker and microwave. Sheets on bed were very thin with 3 pillows !!. Overall it was a good price though not the best neighborhood. If you are looking for place that's cheap with no frills then its fine.

It's hard to believe I'm in the same place as this listing and reviews.
On checking in, I found a room with no chairs at all, no phone (or visible phone jack), no bedside lamps or clock radio, no artwork on the walls, and no flowers as shown in the photo. The cables for the TV set were a jumbled mess hanging below the set. The refrigerator compressor was so noisy it vibrated the vanity counter above it.
I walked down the 3 flights to the office, where the clerk was surprised that there was no chair and said there must be a phone, because he called and it rang. I invited him to come up a find it. Safa was very pleasant, had no more luck finding a phone than I had, but rounded up a dining chair that placed my laptop at armpit height.
As the evening wore on, I discovered the bathroom light doesn't work.
The common areas are in desperate need of deep cleaning and maintenance.
Though I reserved the room for 3 nights, I plan to tough it out through tonight and look for another spot for the remainder of my time in SF.

The staff was very informative, polite, and kind. The front desk manager walked me from the office and down the sidewalk to show me the entrance to where I could find my room. He even helped me solve a kind of tricky situation with competence and ease allowing for compromise and a win-win situation. Honest folks here and a nice stay over.

The staff woke us at 4:30 am to resolve THEIR error, and it obviously could have waited until my children were up. Or they could have just been competent and solved it.
Not an apology or offer to MAKE IT RIGHT.
The "free parking" is entirely insufficient, no assurance you can park.
Lighting in bathrooms is flickering brown neon.
The refrigerator rattled all night.
Seeking refund.

Horrible experience. I know it is a cheap hotel, but I booked it because it had free parking. However, they have very few spots, much less than the number of rooms. As it is a first-come first-served basis and there were no spots left, I had to park on the street. Moreover, the bed was horrible. One of the worst beds I have ever slept on. I woke up with sore back. During the night, someone tried to enter my room. It was scary. It was someone who said he tried to open my door by mistake. Avoid!

When booking we requested a parking space. There are only about 30 rooms and possibly 20 spaces. We had no trouble. Whilst there you dont really need a car. Enjoy.
No, parking is limited and quite small. Unless they have changed the policy, I would call to double check. Your best bet would be to park and maybe take Uber or lyft around the city or even public transportation.
No, but I've never had an issue after staying there three times.
Dear Guest,
All of our rooms are non-smoking.
Hello,
USF is about 3 miles away from the hotel. That would approximately be a 15 minute drive.
