The Herbert is a great budget hotel for a quick solo stay. It's a small hidden gem in very central Union Square. The rooms are quiet and clean, basic amenities, friendly staff! The hallways could use a little pick me up, as they have a very old and outdated feel, however the rooms are modern, rustic and functional. I'll be recommending this hotel to anyone who is in town for a quick solo or couples stay.

Just stayed 4 nights and the staff was friend and when I complained that the window could not lock it got fixed the same day. It must also be mentioned that I paid $500+ per night for a room the generally sell at $75; so 3 stars is the best I can do. Clean room, shower working but the bed too soft. This is a 2 to 3 stars hotel.

We are so sorry that your window was not working properly upon arrival. We inspect every room before arrival and make the best effort to ensure all rooms are in complete working order. I am glad we were able to repair the window quickly for you. The rates do fluctuate and during a peek period our rates can get quiet high but we always ensure that we are one of the most competitive rates in our neighborhood during any period.
