For a quick two-night stay in San Francisco, with a car, this is a perfect place to stay without parking fees. The location is smack in the middle of Chinatown, a block from Little Italy, and a couple blocks from financial district. There are eatery choices galore (as well as cocktail bars), and bus stops nearby for transportation. Trolley stop was a few blocks away. It was clean, we felt safe, our car felt safe and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room is average size, very retro feel. There is a small closet across from a small vanity, with a shower/toilet room off it. The room we stayed in, had a full wall of glass windows (non-working slider door) that looked out to the street, with a view of Coit tower and the surrounding area. The walls are a bit thin, and we could hear the party boys arrive back to their room with lots of laughter, but quieted down w/o having to be addressed. Also, the garbage trucks later into the evening were heard in the room, but with the right attitude it adds the ambiance of staying in the middle of a big city. The bed is not the most comfortable and the pillows a bit hard. However, for the price and feeling secure, it was all acceptable. Upon request, they allowed us to remain parked in their lot as we visited the area for a couple more hours after checkout. Would recommend this motel to anyone that is not coming with high-standards, and up for an adventure.

Considering the prices in San Francisco, it is difficult to find better. Free parking and some points of interest are within a 20-minute walk, such as Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 33 where ferries to Alcatraz leave. From the balcony on the 5th floor where our room was, we could enjoy a decent view.
The rooms could use a refresh, but all in all they are comfortable, and you can turn a blind eye to the wallpaper and carpet which in some places are starting to come apart.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and willing to assist with things I needed. The hotel does look a little dated, decor wise, however my room was very clean and bed and pillows were super comfy. Was disappointed that room did not have a fridge. Location was perfect, within a 15 min straight walk down to embarcadera and the piers, plenty of restaurants close by, hotel is sandwiched between china town and little Italy

This is a basic motel style hotel with decent accommodations. There is no AC, but in June it’s not really needed. They have a fan in the room which is nice for noise cover. The service seems really great also. We booked through Air BnB and my messages were promptly responded to. They also accommodated my request for a room on the backside and upper floor to be away from street noise. This not a fancy place, but it’s inexpensive, clean and centrally located. We are happy after our first night here.

Stay here from 11.09.24 - 13.09.23

Checked in late afternoon, very efficient, large double room at the back of the hotel on the top floor with a view over the city. Room was clean with a large double bad, this was comfortable. This is an older hotel, the windows and doors could do with modernising but this didn't affect the stay in anyway.

The hotel is located on the edge of China town, 30 mins walk to Pier 39 & close to the financial district, the real bonus is free parking in central San Francisco.

Overall a great stay, would certainly re-visit.

It was exactly what I needed and was looking for. I was attending a conference at the Moscone SF and I was trying to look somewhere I can stay with my own bathroom and private room. the service was great they even accommodate your food they would put it in their fridge. very nice rooms. clean and well maintained. The only thing ill say was the toilet was a bit loose. it wobbled like it wasn't sealed enough and needed tightening. decent location but you are around a lot of great places to go visit. this hotel also provides free parking for guests. overall I was so pleased.

Nothing exciting about the Royal, but it’s clean and efficient with basic services although the wifi is last century and quite useless. But if you need a less pricey place to sleep this motel will do that for you. Good thing is you get a good variety of dining options between the Chinese and Italian districts, which is quite nice, and 20 minutes walking distance from the Union Square district for business meetings, just enough time to refresh.

Location is the good think about this inn. It is in Chinatown where there are so many buses that passes through wherever you need to go. Walking distance to Fisherman's wharf (around 15 min walk) and Washington sqaure. There is a laundry facilty for guest. Reception is ok. There is a nearby Walgreens to buy grocery with inexpensive chinese food around.

I stayed here when my home burned down. It was perfectly clean and well taken care of, out of all the cheap no name hotels I stayed in. It really was no different from any other chain budget motel and I would say better than some I've seen over the years. It is maintianed and the staff is pretty nice. It was my first choice of cheap motels when I was rendered homeless suddenly and until I could get a new place to live. I would say some people that are visiting our fair city from the suburbs of middle America aren't used to city noise, but it didn't bother me at all. In fact, it was pretty quiet considering the location. And the best part was they had parking!, thankfully as I needed a place to park, my tag had expired. I don't drive much and was keeping the car for emergencies. The place is no frills, let's be clear but of the 3 places I stayed, this was the best and at $125-$160 a night, you aren't going to find something as good.

There are street level parking facing the registration office, about 20 parking space. And then there's an underground parking with a valet who will park your car and there's a gate blocking street entry after 8 or 9 PM. The underground parking can be reached by an elevator within the hotel after the valet had gone home. Once you are in the underground parking and wish to go back to the hotel, you will need your room key to gain access. Not 24-hour security monitoring, it is relatively safe, however.
