Detailed Reviews
As the title suggests, I was stayed at ITH SF as a female solo traveller. I stayed in the six bed female dorms.
There’s an activity on every night with ample community space considering it’s a smaller hostel. This includes Karaoke, Trivia (a highlight), Taco Tuesday, BBQ on the rooftop, Global Language hour and more. The community is great!
Another significant plus is the beds are very comfortable and they all have curtains for privacy. They had spaces under beds for storage aswell as drawers to add toiletries or anything you want to grab quickly.
Something to note, this is not a disability accessible hostel. there are four or five flights of stairs (not too steep but definitely something to consider) with no elevator. The staff are very aware of this and there are little spots to rest along the way up, and generally will help with bags when you arrive!
The location is great about five minutes to a BART station, close to (but not in a super busy part of) Chinatown, and generally less than a 10 minute walk to MUNI light rail and bus stops, with the closest being less than a minute walk.
9.5/10!

Spent seven nights in the only private room (meant for two) in the house. The property is accessible to Chinatown and downtown SF. Basic for sure and the ventilation fan whirs, but the place is never unsafe.
While I did not manage to speak to everyone, Nicole, Angelo, and others are personable and make guests feel welcome. There are regular activities like BBQ, taco nights, outings, and more to help you meet everyone.
Special shoutout to Sara, who is ever so positive with a smile and got me out of difficult situations multiple times when I locked myself out of the room and dropped my phone into a crevice between my bed and corner of the room!

It’s a great place and very clean. Staff , Assad are very helpful in entry and explaining the facility. They offer Raman and it’s recommended to anyone travel to SF.
Breakfast is very easy to get and many international travelers are meeting here. It’s great.

I booked my stay last minute, and wasn't able to arrive until 3am. The receptionist was very helpful getting me checked in early before I arrived so that I had all the info I needed and was able to enter and get right to sleep. I also ended up needing to extend my stay an additional night, and he helped me with that as well.

It was my very first time staying at a hostel and I am so happy it was here! Absolutely the best choice. Place is clean, beds are comfortable, staff is super friendly and kind. Plenty of room under the bunk beds for my bags. Kitchen is fully equiped, breakfast is great, and I loved having courtesy tea and coffee available at all times. Thank you so very much for a wonderful experience.

Had a really great experience! The hosts are very welcoming and there are fun community events nightly! Taco Tuesdays and Rooftop BBQ were some of my favorites :) There is free breakfast and coffee/tea and a full kitchen to cook in. Definitely recommend.

The hostel itself was clean, comfortable, and had a great atmosphere. The common areas were lively, and it was easy to meet other travelers. The facilities were top-notch, with everything you need, from well-equipped kitchens to cozy lounges. The beds were comfortable, and I appreciated the privacy curtains and individual charging points in the dorms.I also loved the hostel's social events, which made it easy to connect with other guests and experience the local culture. Whether you're traveling solo or with friends, is a fantastic choice. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit!
Thank You ASAD

Great hostel great vibes and the most hospitable table manager, so many events organized from Halloween night to BBQ karaoke and taco Tuesday night. Wonderful vibes in common room with travelers from all over the world. Fully equipped kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals, and plenty of dining options near the hostel. A cozy and secure place.

My friend and I had only planned to stay here for 2 days, but after seeing how comfortable and how amazing the staff here is, we had to extend our stay here for 3 more days!!:)
The entire place, kitchen, showers, restrooms, common room, and bed rooms were always very clean and tidy. You can really tell that the staff all love there jobs and they are very knowledgeable and happy to help you out if you need anything!
BIG shout out to Nikole, She went above and beyond! She was incredibly kinda and has such a fun and happy energy to her.
She got people on multiple occasions together to go out and do really amazing activities, She took us to Baker beach, some really fun bars, and even a club for some late night dancing!
She really made my stay in San Francisco one that I will remember forever and definitely deserves a raise $$ :)
10/10 I highly recommend staying here and I know you will have an amazing time :)

Unfortunately, because we are in an old historic building is has been deemed technically infeasible and financially prohibitive to install an elevator. For guests unable to navigate our stairs we will arrange equivalent accommodation at another hostel.
That said, we do have handicap accessible bathroom and dorm room. The bathroom has a roll in heater shower with a hand sprayer as well as wheelchair accessible toilet and sink.
Contrary to the statement made by travglobT, the stairs are possible for some people in a wheelchair. We have found there are some people in wheelchairs who are very strong and can navigate stairs, especially because we have handrails on both sides of the stairs. In addition, the ADA bathroom works well for people having other disabilities, such as prosthetic legs.
If anyone has questions about our accessibility features, we encourage them to contact the manager in advance of their arrival.
Hi Pragati,
I recognize your name so I know we have already answered this question for you personally, however I will answer it again here for the benefit of other readers.
As a small hostel, it's necessary that all our rooms are mixed dormitories. This works for our small community of friends who have only recently met and male/female travelers who are traveling together (sharing shampoo bottles etc.) If the mixed dorm arrangement is a concern for you, please ask and we will try to put you with mostly female dorm if that's possible.
See you soon!

Hey Lauren. As we are right in downtown San Francisco, we do not offer parking. There are parking garages 1 block away for $28/24 hours. Alternatively, we know of some first come, first served free street parking across the city. You can then take a 25 minute bus ride back. There is also some street parking in front of the hostel, but only from 7pm-7am during the week, and limited on the weekends. If you are renting a car for SF, we highly recommend NOT to. There is plenty of public transit here. if you are renting a car for a longer trip and SF is in the middle, then you can choose from the above options. You could also look at returning the car when you get to SF and renting another one after you leave, to your next destination. Hope that helps!
I don't think they have private rooms.
What Jenny said, plus a free fluffy towel :)
