Nestled in a scenic, peaceful locale, the Inn at the Presidio is lauded for its immaculate cleanliness and well-maintained historic charm. Guests often highlight the exceptional service and added-value amenities, such as the complimentary European breakfast and wine and cheese reception, though some advise that parking fees and the cancellation policy may detract from the overall value. The spacious rooms with scenic views, coupled with a serene atmosphere that melds early 1900s elegance with modern comforts, make it a tranquil retreat admired for its proximity to nature and attractions.

After working on the front lines throughout the Covid pandemic, I desperately needed an escape. The Inn at the Presidio provided just that! The location was excellent, with trails nearby, lush landscaping, and all the beauty of the Golden Gate Bridge area within walking distance. The historic inn was amazing! The staff was wonderful and very attentive to the needs of their guests. I was not dismissed from the kitchen door, rather welcomed in, and handed a delicious wine and cheese tray with a delightful bottle of white wine. Wandering the halls of the inn and admiring the decor, one can appreciate the history of the building and what is now a national park. I had to choose the most economical room, and it was clean and comfortable, with a nice view. The shower was amazing. I never have been in one with such a high ceiling and so nice... The high ceilings throughout the inn were impressive. I wish I could have experienced the fancier rooms, but even the most economical one was delightful. The seating area in the back with the rose garden and fire pit was a great place to relax in the evening. One could literally hear the owls in the trees... In the morning it was just as wonderful for breakfast with the sweet songs of the daytime birds. There were tasty snacks available in the room, and a nice assortment of beverages in the mini fridge if desired. Slippers, umbrellas, sanitizing hand wipes, and nice toiletries were all available. The only drawbacks were the parking fee and the extra tax for the national park location, but even the parking fee was reasonable based on what you would pay to park elsewhere in the Presidio.

A true gem. The views are breathtaking. My daughter and I walked all over the Presidio, including the Ecology Trail that began right behind the Inn, and down to the Marina. It’s close to so much while allowing for a quiet peaceful night.

We had a king suite which offered enough space for a family of 4 to stay very comfortably. The bed was firm yet comfortable. My daughter said the couch pullout was quite comfortable as well.

Parking was very easy and relatively cheap for the City. This location made it easy to access coming from the Golden Gate Bridge and then driving to Golden Gate Park in the morning.

I was surprised by how large the breakfast provided was - offering a variety of fruit, pastries, oatmeal, yogurt and cereal.

We recently stayed at the Inn at the Presidio for 2 nights and had a fantastic experience. The hotel is easy to access and perfectly located, with parking available for only $15 per day. We enjoyed the complementary breakfast, as well as the daily wine and cheese offering. The patio with a fireplace provided a cozy spot to relax, and our suite, also featuring a fireplace, was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay. We highly recommend this charming hotel.

I visited the Lodge at Presidio annually for the past three years with family, and recently had an opportunity to stay at the Inn on a business trip. Compare to the Lodge, the Inn is a bit dated. Maybe it's just room 142 at the Funston house but overall the place felt worn and not as modern as the Lodge, lots of scruffs on the door and furniture. The bit that really got me was the black spots (mold?) on the privacy shade right behind the bed board, (perhaps from previous guests leaving the window open). At the Inn there is also just a single person manning the front desk, which in a crunch felt forever to get anything done quick. I waited for about 10 minutes before I asked permission to grab the luggage myself because I was in a rush to catch a flight under a heavy storm.

Given the price, I would recommend the Lodge in a heart beat. If you need anything or to take advantage of the complementary breakfast, you can walk over without leaving the house. That said, I did not have a chance to stay at the main house but the lobby looked very cozy and inviting with the Christmas decorations up.

I first came across the Inn at the Presidio last year (Nov 2023) We took the Presidio Walk to the Golden Gate Bridge with Julie from JB Walking Tours. The tour had many amazing stops. I enjoyed the stop at Inn at the Presidio. We stopped for water at the Inn at the Presidio which caught my attention. It looked like such a cute, quaint place to stay and it was decorated for Christmas. I knew that Inn at the Presidio would be a spectacular place to stay with a lot of history and breathtaking views. I promised myself that the next time I was in San Francisco, I would treat myself to a few nights at the Inn at the Presidio.

Anytime that I have called the Inn at the Presidio, I have received attentive, courteous, excellent prompt service. I am looking forward to my stay at the Inn at the Presidio this week (Nov 26-28). (confirmation number 76600)
The only thing that surprised me was the inflexible cancellation policy at the Inn at the Presidio. Life does happen and you do need to be reasonable. Originally, I had another room booked at the Inn at the Presidio for Nov 25-Nov 28 (confirmation number 76607)
Yesterday (Sat Nov 23 at 1:12PM) I called the Inn at the Presidio to request if I could arrive Nov 26 instead. I just wanted to cancel one night. However, I was told that I was outside the 72-hour cancellation policy and I would be charged the first night. I ended up just cancelling the entire three nights. I had to pay $404.25 as a penalty for cancelling outside the 72-hour policy. I do find this unreasonable in that I was just trying to cancel one night not the entire stay. It is also a holiday week and the room could easily be filled. I know when I initially called Inn at the Presidio a few weeks ago, I was put on a wait list so there are many people eager to stay at the Inn at the Presidio.
I would say to future visitors of the Inn at the Presidio, the inn looks like a wonderful, educational place to stay but be careful, their cancellation policy is strict and unreasonable. You may find yourself having to pay a hefty penalty fee for cancelling outside of their 72-hour cancellation policy.

My family and I stayed at the Presidio during a time my husband was in the hospital at UCSF. The staff at the Inn was exceptionally helpful and accommodating during our stay. The rooms were lovely vintage with high ceilings, hardwood floors, fireplace, crown molding, rocking chairs on the covered porch. They had updated bathrooms, comfortable bedding and nice bathroom amenities. The in-room bar had a nice selection of drinks and snacks, an espresso machine and bottled water. The European Continental Breakfast was very nice, had a large selection to choose from. The evening wine and cheese event was also quite nice with several selections of wine, lemonade, and snacks including hot chocolate chip cookies. While I didn't have an opportunity to enjoy, there was a lovely firepit with benches and chairs off the dining area as well as outdoor seating for breakfast.

There are many attractions and nature trails within the Presidio Park as well as a nice golf course. The location is excellent as a central hub for all of San Francisco's attractions. The Inn is in a quiet location in the middle of the Presidio which allows for a lovely restful stay.

First time and this was a stretch for my budget. So glad that I did it. Best nights of sleep, a strong self-service breakfast (that could use maybe another hot/warm option in addition to the oatmeal). As a veteran, I enjoyed feeling that I was back in a BOQ (Bachelor Officers Quarters). The wine/cheese from 5-7pm was nice to meet other guests. This is one of those accommodations where the location adds a great deal to the overall experience. It's about a 40-50 minute walk to Golden Gate Bridge, although I drove a lot closer due to scheduling. I didn't go to the nearby associated museum, but I heard families raving about it.

The Inn featured a comfortable suite of living room, bedroom and bath with views of the bay, Angel Island and the Golden Gate. Wine, cheese and snacks in the evening. A continental breakfast buffet in the morning with coffee and hot drinks available pretty much available all day. The outstanding feature of this place is the Presidio itself, a retired Army base with many miles of trails and paved walkways. During the week, the place was very quiet though the few restaurants on the grounds were completely booked. I don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else in San Francisco. This trip totally spoiled us. Easy walking access to the Marina, Richmond and Sunset districts.

While the rooms are nice and the location is beautiful, we experienced several maintenance issues that were not fully resolved during our stay; switching rooms simply switched the issues. Lights, outlets and gas fireplaces did not work; doorknobs fell off; plumbing fixtures were broken. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable and the staff friendly. A tasty continental breakfast was served. The location, in the Presidio, is fantastic if you like beautiful views, hikes and bicycle rides. However, restaurants and commercial activities are not within walking distance. We paid more than $400/room, and although they gave us a discount for the inconveniences we experienced, it was nowhere near worth it.

Could not have asked for a more charming and relaxing place to end a business trip and enjoy a half day to myself. The inclusion of wine/cheese reception late afternoon and the European breakfast, makes this special spot a great value. If you are looking for quiet and access to some amazing trails/hikes you can not beat the Inn at the Presdio. Very attentive and warm staff! Impressed all around. I stayed here at the end of a business trip. This place is also ideal for leisure trips.

I don't believe so but I was traveling with only adults and really didn't pay close attention. It seemed like a very quiet area, I know there is a shuttle that takes you to different areas so those might be some kid friendly spots. The shuttle wasn't running when I was there due to covid.

It is about a 20 minute drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. There are closer beaches to the Inn on the San Francisco side, both Crissy Field and Baker Beach, as well as Ocean beach. Cheers!
