For some reason we always arrive either late at night or very early in the morning and this was no exception. Arriving early the hotel moved quickly to accommodate us and was able to check us in giving us a much needed bed.
Reception is of a nice human scale providing intimacy and personality and the darker decoration accentuates this. The front desk staff and the concierge were wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable.
We took a junior suit for the extra space and it was definitely worth it, allowing us to reside comfortably with lots of luggage. The decoration was tasteful and elegant contemporary using a grey pallet, very calming.
We didn’t use the gym but it is huge, spread over three floors. It is open to the public but guests get free use during their stay.
The bar and restaurant are also of a nice size using lots of tactile wood.

I’ve stayed here at The Four Seasons in San Francisco many times and even in a post pandemic world, it’s still the only hotel I’d ever stay at while visiting SF! The hotel truly shines and has amazing pristine rooms in beautiful sleek modern decor, heavenly Four Seasons beds (best in the hotel industry!) lovely soaking tubs, and from the higher floors, stunning views of the city. Absolutely delightful room product. I can confidently say no other competing hotel compares to this. The views from my room (1627) were truly gorgeous.

The food from in room dining is delicious, always promptly delivered and is well presented. The truffle fries are spectacular. The in room dining team is world class, especially Catherine, Jeanette, and Mildred- They have all worked here a very long time and have been taking care of me for several years and are always a joy to speak with over the phone. Really appreciate it. Some of the warmest kindest people ever!

The reception and concierge team are very strong, always guest focused, polite and always remember me. Very special mention to Front Desk agent Jose for his incredible warm service, Front office manager Evelyn was very kind and warmly welcomed me back during my last stay in February 2022, and Mariia also very lovely and kind. Concierge Vanessa worked some magic for me when I needed a watch shop last moment for a repair and she could not have been more gracious and kind to me. :) Gita in sales is absolutely lovely and always graciously assists me with booking.

Housekeeping is always impeccable with strong attention to detail- lens cloth wipe for my glasses is a particular lovely touch and I’ve started collecting them from whenever I stay in a FS hotel.

The doormen will ALWAYS have a good attitude and ALWAYS hold the door open. Never once have they not. Very attentive as well with Ubers and getting cabs. Rock stars!

I absolutely love this hotel. It’s a classic in SF and has graciously changed over the years and always gets better and better. Obviously this is a very well run hotel and it shows each and every time. I’m a huge FS aficionado and this is one of the best in the company!

Planning on returning this summer and of course looking forward to another special stay.

Thank you for always looking after me! One of my favourite hotels in the US!

Sincerely,
Patrick Winkler

I recently stayed at Four Seasons San Francisco, and as always, it was impeccable from check in with Jose, who took lovely care of me, to Aundrea, Catherine and Henry from in room dining that are super stars! The service is flawless. Everyone is kind and very efficient. The Four Seasons app is super easy to use and gives guests everything they might need!

My room, 1416, was a beautiful large Premier room with a lovely super comfortable bed, a beautiful view of SOMA and the bay, and was super quiet. Very serene way up on the 14th floor, I absolutely love the rooms here, also recently refreshed with a modern sleek look.

Their in room dining food amazing, the location is perfect to walk all over the Downtown sf area, and the attention to detail throughout is amazing. Housekeeping is meticulous, your cords will be tied, glasses are left resting on a four seasons branded cloth wipe, and everything was spotless.

Thank you so much for always looking after me! This hotel is truly an icon in the city and to be honest I can’t think of a better hotel to stay at during your trip to San Francisco. I feel it’s #1 and will always exceed expectations. They do a lovely job all around!

Looking forward to returning soon!

Best,
Patrick

This lovely spot is a perfect oasis after exploring San Francisco. We always love the city, but having the privilege of coming back to the Four Seasons each afternoon was a highlight. The room are very functional and exceptionally comfortable and clean. The service was impeccable, as always. We especially enjoyed delicious cocktails at the bar; the bartender was friendly and super professional. Even with high profile guests staying there simultaneously, we felt very well cared for. Fantastic experience.

I've stayed at the Four Seasons SF multiple times (December 2019, January/Feb 2020) and felt I could finally write a review.

The rooms are nice. They aren't particularly charming or spectacular, but clean, spacious, modern- and the bathrooms are nice as well. Beds are SUPER comfortable.

The location is right on Market St, so not the most charming, cutest or "cultural" area of the city, but close to a lot of the action.

Front desk and valet service is very good, but I've had very much hit or miss service at their restaurant and bar, MKT.

One time at MKT, we were sitting in the bar area wanting to get drinks at around 9pm on a Saturday. It took 20 minutes for someone to even get us menus, and then it took a while for someone to come back and take our order. I finally just got up and decided to order at the bar. It was quite strange because the time before I was getting drinks in the bar area and the service was really top notch. But it was so ridiculous how long we had to wave, and it was hard to wave people over as well. It was quite disappointing service.

I also had a meh experience at MKT for breakfast. We had to wait extremely long (30 min at least) for a table and the hostess seemed quite confused and overwhelmed. She didn't seem to have a good way of keeping track of the groups waiting to be seated and people who came in after us (without reservations and the same size) got seated before us. We had to go back up to remind her that we were still waiting and she apologized because she forgot we were there. It was a bit of a bummer because we wanted to get our day started but really couldn't. The food was also quite mediocre especially for the pretty exorbitant prices. We decided that we wouldn't be getting breakfast from MKT again unless we had some sort of credit.

Overall it's a good option if you want to be on Market Street and like a clean and more modern vibe. The restaurant is hit or miss and pretty overpriced.

First business trip in 2 years. 3 weeks on the road. I chose the Four Seasons specifically because they have fast laundry service and supposedly go the extra mile. I find out now that they don’t do laundry on Sunday “because of covid 19” and zero effort on the part of anyone to solve the problem aside from the concierge who tried to find a coin operated laundry mat. With no superior service offering there is no point in paying a premium price. A shame as this was a good operation once.

We stayed here over New Years. The location is ok, with the entrance on Market Street. Very close to shopping and Union Square. The only downfall with the location is that there are tons of homeless people outside of the hotel, some of which are very aggressive in getting what they want. Just ignore them the best you can. The rooms are nice and clean, Four Seasons style. The beds are very comfortable. The decor is ok, nothing special. The staff at front desk were nice but not too personable. The deduction in a star came from the bar/restaurant downstairs. We ordered quesadillas and chips and salsa, and it took over an hour to get any of our food. The waiters were not all that friendly. At least we had some nuts to tie us over until the meals came. We got a good weekend rate for the hotel, 350 a night or thereabouts. Sometimes I see the nightly rates for the same hotel room over 1000 a night. This is definitely not a hotel worth that. For that price, stay at the Ritz or the Fairmont, much nicer hotels in my opinion, and in much better neighborhoods.

We stay at four seasons all over the world, and this hotel is not up to par with the rest. We chose this over some other 5 star hotels we usually stay at in the area because we thought they would treat us in the extra special way four seasons usually does, and we needed a little extra pampering since we brought our two year old with us.

They did bring us a crib with diapers and creams, etc, but nothing more. Which all the 5 star hotels do. I’ve gotten bibs and snacks and toys for my toddler at all the other four seasons, and most other 5 star hotels, so this was disappointing. I was hoping for something to excite her (or us) and make her feel welcome.

Room is nice but very bland and sterile. The toiletries they provide are nothing special.

The two exceptions are the staff and the restaurant. Both are fantastic and 5 stars. Food and cocktails are top notch here and so is the service all throughout the hotel.

All in all a great hotel but doesn’t hit the four seasons mark in my opinion because nothing makes it stand out above the rest.

There are special people throughout the hospitality industry but there is no place in San San Francisco which has such a incredible team, where every member goes out of their way to deliver consistent exceptional service, as the Four Seasons San Francisco!

The doormen always open the door for guests, a rare thing these days, but they also will chase a taxi when you need one or help arrange an Uber.

When I needed a large dinner party arranged in China Town the concierge knew the owner of a fantastic place and not only got us in but ensured we enjoyed wonderful service.

I needed a wow for the guests traveling with me and the concierge recommended we see the Marrakech Magic show. All I can say is it will be a night of fun and amazing memories for years, and I never would have found it without the FS Concierge.

Breakfast for our group was superb, of the highest quality, and served so graciously though I know it was hard work. A big thank you to the breakfast team!

If you are coming for work or a weekend getaway, a stay here ensures every detail will be cared for. I cannot wait to come back and thank each kind person who took care of my stay. You really do make FS San Francisco #1!

Booked through FHR, which gives $60 in breakfast credit per room (which I think might not be enough for two people but maybe I just eat too much). Used the other $100 credit at dinner, curiously set in the lobby lounge and not restaurant. The food came out to be great nonetheless.

Very speedy and pleasant service. Also absolutely loved the room - a south-facing corner King. The natural light during the day is amazing, and the view of Yerba Buena and to the ocean phenomenal. Room also felt newer than I imagined, and the seating around the window is a great touch.

I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, with 0.5 star deduction for the wellness experience. It's a cool concept to use the Equinox Sports Club, supposedly Equinox's top offering, as the gym and spa. However, in practice, the gym was very crowded during all times of the day, as was the locker room, sauna, and steam room. I'd much gladly trade this for a smaller gym with more privacy.
