With virtually none of the usual amenities except for a TV, this dreary little room didn't have one poster or print on the walls. Major street noise. Phone removed but wires still stapled crookedly across one wall.
This was a decent boutique/historic hotel option. The hotel is small and has almost no amenities. The room was small but had everything that we needed. The location was excellent. The fire alarm went off at 4am one morning and we had to evacuate but there was no danger. That was a bit inconvenient. I might stay here again but I would also look at other options in the same location.
Located in the city center, the sincere interest and hospitality of the owner, Osman Bey, and the friendly and attentiveness of the employees are the biggest plus for me to go again. Touchstone hotel is in the beautiful part of the city, take your place when you go…
I am glad I booked the touchstone hotel, which location is right in the central of union square away 3 mims walk. The hotel built in contemporary decent look, the location is convenient to walk to the public transport. The staff was very nice and helpful, they will give you some advice about in the local. I come here by Amtrak train so I was confused to used the public transport, the staff are give me good advices. I like The staff clean and changed towels daily. I am happy to found and stayed in the Touchstone hotel. It was great experience for my trip in adventure the public transport in SF.
We spent one night at this hotel and were welcomed by Juliette. She was super friendly, professional and available to answer all our questions. Our room was small, old looking but comfortable. The beds were very clean and extremely comfortable. This is a simple hotel but great for the price and location. Pros : the parking is one block away and included in the price Cons: no coffee or tea in the room or on site and the restaurant next door does not start serving until 8am.
We stayed for a couple of nights and were welcomed by excellent staff who were helpful and pleasant. The hotel was in an amazing location and the room was lovely. If we return to San Francisco, we’d stay here for definite.
Oct. 21st to 25th. Getting there from BART Powell station, (with 2 pieces of luggage in tow) was simple enough. Just about a 5 - 10 minute walk. Was greeted by Conner who checked me in. 1st impressions, this is not a 3 or 4 star hotel and I didn't expect much anyway. Just a safe comfortable place to where I can leave my bags and sleep at night. In essence it's a 'no frills' hotel. Room 302 was comfortable enough only no air conditioner, just a ceiling fan. If you want the room cool just open the window if you don't mind the street noise. Room comes with a private shower/toilet (good enough for me) and T.V with no cable channels (hardly spent time in the room anyway). The basic stuff like bath soap, lotion, shampoo and towels provided and adequate. Location wise, it is within walking distance to Union Square and some good pubs and restaurants. And about 10 - 15 minute walk to the Chinatown Area. Front desk assisted me with my 1/2 day tour booking to Muir Woods with hotel pick-up and drop off. Which went on without a hitch. All the front desk/check-in people (Jane, Andrew, Conner aka Happy), whom I had good long chats with all the time during my stay.…
Myself and four colleagues stayed at the Touchstone hotel in October 2019. From the first confirmation email to our final departure, the staff were helpful, welcoming and willing to give help and advice. The rooms were good quality, with a shower and toilet in the bathroom, alongside a sink set into the bedroom. The room included a USB charging point, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, a ceiling fan and TV. The water was hot, the towels were fresh and I slept like a log on both nights! Before coming away, one of my colleagues looked up previous reviews on here, and found a number of negative comments about the hotel - one of which included a comment about there being no lift. After visiting, I can most definitely say that there is a lift, and (whilst a little slow) it worked absolutely fine and served us well during our trip. The location of the hotel is extremely good - just a 3 minute walk to Union Square and the Hop on Hop off bus stop. For breakfast we ventured out to 2 great diners within 5 minutes of the hotel - one called Masons and one called Pinecrest...we had excellent, authentic meals at both, giving us the true American experience! I would definitely recommend the hotel as a bolthole for sightseeing...no coffee making facilities in the room, but a handy diner attached for your morning caffeine needs! Thank you Touchstone...a successful 2 night stay!…
I booked this on the reviews and pictures on the web. The reality is far worse than I imagined. Reception is a tiny desk in the "lobby". We were on the 2nd floor of this hovel. The room was tiny, with our double bed pushed against a wall, so getting in and out of bed was a task. The decor was old and tired and the bedding was old blankets and a cover that was at least 20 years old. The furniture in the room was worthy of a skip. Breakfast was not included, so it was the diner next door. The exterior of the hotel was full of tramps and druggies, who were always drunk. My wife was terrified to go out on her own. Most reviews of this bin are phoney. Avoid it like the plague.
I booked a double room, based on photographs and reviews. What a complete and utter disaster. The drapes were filthy, the double bed pushed up against the walls and the bedding was old sheets and blankets, not even a douvet. Stairs were steep and narrow, forget any lift. No food is provided and no bar either. It is on a main street, occupied by drunks, junkies and beggars. Do not visit this [place, unless you want the bottom end of the hotel market
