Sometimes when you read reviews and then make a reservation and finally arrive on site their is a disconnect. Union Street Inn is not one of those experiences. It has always exceeded expectations A retreat with a country feel. The garden in the rear of the inn makes the INN a retreat whether you are on business or just a vacation, The breakfasts which are served starts the day with a smile on one's face. and cnahnge daily. I can't wait to book again next year when I am back on business
The quintessential B&B. A backyard garden that is so peaceful, you want to sit for hours and relax over their delicious breakfasts. Who would believe that bustling Union Street was just outside, full of shops and great restaurants, and within striking distance of all that northern San Francisco has to offer. A nice walk to the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, or take in an evening movie at the Presidio Theatre. The rooms/beds are comfortable, with recently redecorated bathrooms. The Wild Rose is our favorite room--extra quiet and spacious. We liked it so much, we came back a month later for another stay, and we'll be back again!
This is our go-to place in SF! It is such a lovely inn. It is decorated beautifully with a unique charm you cant find in many places. There are spacious rooms and a lovely garden. Timm is a delight to talk to and creates masterpieces for breakfast which include a fruit salad, muffins, banana bread, and a lovely egg dish or sweet. Coffee, tea, and snacks are available all the time. The location is perfect, allowing for walks to multiple areas of interest. We can't wait until we return!
We enjoyed our stay at the union inn. The street is full of lovely coffee shops and restaurants and has easy public transit. The room was quiet and comfortable. The garden is beautiful and we gathered with our friends there in the evenings for a drink before dinner. My only complaint is the breakfast is boring. Eggs toast and bacon every day was a bit tiring. Some muffins, scones, or yogurts would be a nice change. I’m sure it’s better in warmer months when you can sit outside but it was a bit awkward juggling TV trays to accommodate all the guests. With a more interesting breakfast choice I’d give five stars.
We LOVED our stay at the Union Street Inn while visiting our daughter and her fiancé. Their location right across the street brought us to this inn. Our room on the second floor facing the garden was well appointed and comfortable. The innkeepers Timm and Chuck made the place feel warm, cozy, and welcoming. The homemade hot breakfasts were delicious and filling, setting us up for a day of sightseeing and buzzing around. Chuck entertained us with many tips on restaurants and things to do. I use the word “entertain” in its true sense. As we found ourselves engaged and laughing. A great way to start our day! The garden is beautiful, but as we were there during a bit of a cold snap, we didn’t sit out as much as we had hoped. My husband and I would highly recommend this inn, and would certainly stay here again. Thank you Timm and Chuck!…
Oh my gosh, we absolutely LOVED our stay- from the cozy living room with a variety of teas/treats to access any time, to the all around comfortable & cute decor of the place. The Inn was not only clean & had all the "little" things that made our stay amazing, but it also felt like stepping into a little piece of England. The garden and fresh, warm breakfast made by Chuck was the highlight. It surpassed our expectations! Also it is at a great location- walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, parks, the marina & Golden Gate Bridge!
We had a great experience at the Union Street Inn. The rooms were spacious, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was in a safe area and an easy drive to the major attractions of the city. The backyard/patio area was so serene and was a great place to relax in the middle of a busy city. Would absolutely stay here again!
If you are looking for a small, unpretentious spot to land while visiting Cow Hollow, Union Street Inn is your place. It's six rooms, one, is a tiny cottage at the back of their shaggy, charming garden, the remainder on two floors in the main building, decorated differently with pieces from the original British owners. The two largest rooms face Union Street. The current owner tends to the Inn with a loving hand. Each morning one of the staff creates lovely breakfasts, to be had outside in the garden or in the small parlor, making sure tea, coffee, fresh fruit and treats are out each day. One is on their own in this sweet place. Be aware there are steep steps up from Union Street and up to the second floor.
This is either the 3rd or 4th time that we have stayed at the Union Street Inn. I used to live in the neighborhood, so when ever we travel to SF, we like to stay here. The property is very cozy, centrally located, and this time my wife was thrilled to stay in the garden cottage. The owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast served in the garden is a delight. I would very much recommend anyone who wants to stay in a peaceful B&B where you can walk to Union St, Chestnut St and Filmore St shopping districts consider this property. Just don't book the same week we want to stay! LOL
When visiting my family in the Marina, this is a lovely and homey find for my stay ! Much more comfortable and accomodating than the local hotels. Hot breakfast every morning with beverages available all the time. Very delightful stay ! I will be back when in the Marina !
