The Parker Guest House continues to be our favorite place to stay in San Francisco. It's always quiet, welcoming, and homey- feels like visiting a friend with an amazing beautiful historic home. As a bed and breakfast, they serve pastries, yogurt, eggs and cereal in the morning, and coffee and tea are always available in the kitchen (included). The staff are friendly and unobtrusive. The rooms have robes and their bathroom products are still high (or normal) quality, unlike many hotels that seem to be in a race to the bottom.
On our last visit, however, we were a bit uncomfortable because the rooms tend to be on the colder side. It would have been helpful to know that a portable heater is provided in every room, but we weren't informed, even when we told a staff member we were cold. (Another staff member clarified that we should have been notified of the portable heater, as did the owner when I notified her of this oversight, so hopefully this means they're constantly improving their service.) I'd still recommend. Just be sure to bring warm and comfortable layers for sleeping.

With the continuing blight of San Francisco B&B inns, this property upholds its unsurpassed quality, location, and service. Located in a well-maintained two building compound, the grounds and common rooms are beautiful, with a lovely garden and Twin Peak Mountain Views from some rooms. Breakfast is deluxe continental. There is also an early evening wine and cheese complimentary “happy hour.” Convenient to the No. 22 and 33 bus lines and the J Line Muni runs right past the entrance. Church St. Muni station is an easy 10 minute walk. Nearest BART station (16th & Mission) is about a 12-15 walk or catch the 22 or 33 bus. Call the Inn for room location. The rooms that face the street suffer from front gate and J Line train noise. Otherwise, a great stay and I’ll be back.

We spent four nights at Parker Guest House and it was one of the highlights of our trip to California. It was slightly over our budget but was worth every penny. From the staff who were super helpful, to the amazing breakfast provided every morning and the cheese, wine and nibbles from 5.30pm it was just wonderful. We also had the opportunity to meet lots of other travellers and it was great to listen to stories and receive recommendations whilst enjoying a glass of wine !
The only downside to our stay was that we had a room at the front of the guesthouse and it was very noisy with the trams passing by frequently but it meant we were always up early to start our day of sightseeing which was a positive.
Will be recommending Parker Guest House to anyone that is travelling to San Francisco.

Nice property with good character. The location is good for the Castro and takes about 40 mins to get to Pier 39 via public transport. The welcome was okay but brief. We were given one key to share and despite being promised a second key, this did not happen. We had a room on the front of the property which was a good size, although there was a TV and chest of drawers in the wardrobe which left very little hanging space. There was no view from the window as the trees in front of the property have grown tall and block the windows. There is a tram line which runs past the front of the property on Church Steet which can be handy. However, the trams are very noisy and run all day from very early, 7 days a week. We had practically no sleep during our time there. Breakfast was okay although, despite being advertised to be available from 07:30, it was not. We had lots of things planned during our stay and as the tram had woken us before 5am we were prompt to breakfast. The staff at breakfast were far from engaging. We were disappointed to see that some of the cling wrapped bread put out for breakfast was green with mould and despite pointing this out, the bread basket was not refreshed. Our room was not serviced in the 4 nights we were there and the fresh towels we asked for on day 3 felt reluctantly left outside the door during the day. At no point did any of the staff ask us if were were enjoying our stay or if our room was okay On check out we felt that they couldn't get rid of us fast enough. I would say that our stay at Parker Guest house was okay, but nothing special.

Excellent attention to details! Staff was helpful and available without being intrusive. Loved the touches like water provided in room and linens cleaned with non-irritating, low/no fragrance detergent. Felt very safe with their COVID protocols such as individually wrapped cheese, crackers and breakfast foods. (So much better than a Monterey hotel we went to later in week where few wore masks and would crowd into elevators with you)

At first I thought some of the guests were friends of the manager. I later realized that the staff is friendly with all of the visitors. There is a real welcoming feel, and I would highly recommend a stay especially if you are a woman traveling alone. The train out front can be a bit noisy, but we got used to it and it only operates until midnight. The garden out back is lovely and there are a number of coffee shops within walking distance. I had to eat a very restrictive diet, and the staff was kind enough to allow me to store some food in the fridge.

I had to be at UCSF medical Center very early in the morning and we chose to stay at the Parker guest house because it is the quietest most elegant place I have stayed in San Francisco. Everything was perfect and we Walked to a great restaurant for dinner. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Walking distance to Dolores Park, the Castro District and even Alamo Square (if you like walking), this place is a gem. The room was quite small, and the price quite high (for European standards, in Europe you would pay half the price), but well, you´re in San Francisco, you have your own bathroom, you stay in a comfy place with loads of charm and you start the day with a delicious breakfast!! We enjoyed the wine social at 5:30 pm, sitting outside enjoying the last sunrays in the garden. Our host went out of his way to arrange our prepaid taxi after checkout (the driver didn´t show up), thanks to him, we arrived on time at the airport. Minor detail: when we asked how public transport works, and if you can buy a ticket in the tram, the woman host didn´t know about this and obviously doesn´t travel a lot by public transport... I think it´s important to be well informed if you own a bed and breakfast. All in all our stay was enjoyable and we would recommend Parker Guest House to our friends.

I had the most wonderful stay at Parker Guest House in May 24. The stunning property is straight out of ‘Tales of the City’ and my room was spacious, bright, and looked out over the beautiful gardens. Having a lovely continental breakfast each day was fuelling for a day of exploring. From the Parker it’s an easy 10-minute walk up to the Castro and the Muni station which takes you everywhere you’ll want to go. This stay was recommended to me by friends who had stayed there in the past and I’m now passing it on.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Parker House during our recent visit to SF. The location is perfect because it’s right next to Muni for public transportation and located near both Castro and Market Streets. When we arrived early the staff was super helpful and got us use of a bathroom to freshen up because our room was not available until the afternoon. The stay was delightful with a really nice continental breakfast provided everyday. The room was large with great natural light and a nice bathroom. Carol the new manager of the property and her husband Brian couldn’t have been nicer! Every request we had was handled perfectly. The number of seating area’s inside and outside coupled with a beautiful garden and fountain made the visit a very memorable one. We definitely plan on staying again whenever we return to San Francisco! Thanks so much!

Not close. Palmer house is a bit south of a line from Golden State PARK and South Beach. And south of the attractions you mentioned. So if those are you main focus points, you may need to pay more and find a place to the north.
There are more places to choose from in the San Francisco area.
