We just got back from celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in Maui. Stayed at the Westin and had a fabulous time. (Thanks to MauiKay who made everything easy for us! Google her!) The Westin has great food and is close to everything. Pools were great, people friendly, weather perfect. Can't wait to get back there.

Hotel's Favorite
I will start by saying my husband & I usually book really nice condos down in Wailea and eat at Morimoto at least once, so we were a bit nervous about booking a Ka'anapali Resort hotel. Sorry if this makes me sound like a snob, I just like to give a frame of reference for what we like, so you can disregard this as not your kind of review, or decide it's something that might be useful to you given your own preferences and interests. Anyway, we wanted to join our friends there for 5 nights, so we went for it. Via Marriott website we were able to get a fantastic AAA deal. Don't get me wrong, Hokupa'a Tower rooms are much more expensive. But we really thought the amenities made up for it (more later), and with the AAA package we got 25% off at the main hotel bars/restaurants, and $200 hotel credit per day, which definitely all added up in savings. The Hokupa'a tower was renovated just a year or two ago, so the rooms are super beautiful (we were very fortunate due to my Marriott status & got a corner suite upgrade w incredible ocean views). The Lanai at Hokupa'a Tower was our FAVORITE thing! You can only get in if you are booked in that tower, no ifs ands or buts. You can't flex your status, pay for it, anything. It's an appreciation and experience for those who decided to book up, and given how crowded Maui can be, it was a lovely respite. The hosts are fabulous, and can help with checking for your room before it's ready, booking the hospitality suite so you can change/shower after the 11am checkout when you have late flights, and are just great people in general. Gia Dee and Todd (or maybe it was Scott, we got too distracted talking funny t-shirts and movies to get the name again, lol) are so warm & welcoming. Their bartenders/mixologists are amazing (loved Saul, Jess, David & more) and can whip up anything you desire, before you know you desire it. The "small bites" from 7-10am & 5-7pm are not small at all. We ate full breakfast there twice, and it was often the perfect PM snack for me before a later dinner. Even between "small bites" hours there is popcorn, packages of chips, sodas, coffee, tea, etc. The soaking pool is gorgeous, and there are many seats with perfect views. Our friends were in the "regular" tower and SO disappointed once they saw all the perks. OK, enough waxing poetic about the Hokupa'a Tower. Other than I wish I were back right now! Regarding the rest of the property, we were also super happy with that as well! Of course there are tons of kids, and we're not kid people. But there are 3 separate adults only areas, so we never felt overrun or anything. There's a regular pool, a hot tub, and our absolute fav was the sand bottom "warm pool" as we called it, since it was neither super hot nor cold. It felt great on the feet, and was just a wonderful place to chill and chat w our friends, meet others, etc. Poolside servers were awesome, and there was a bar right there too. And, if you want to have fun and mix with the hilarious kiddos...the slide was great! At least 2 stories, and you really got whipping around there. Hale Moʻolelo their basic restaurant/bar had surprisingly high quality food, and the Market had good options too. Was even able to buy snorkeling/swimming fins on property, sorry, forgot the name of the place. Off property the beach is also very nice there (other places further south had closed beaches), the water is gorgeous, and it's a short walk North to Black Rock which has wonderful snorkeling. If you want to get off property the Whaler's Village mall has all you need, or it's just a short drive or uber into Lahaina. We love Paia Fish Market & Lahaina Grill. Look More Funn at Star Noodle was great, rest so so for us. All in all we were incredibly happy with our time there, and will be back. Thank you to everyone at the Westin Maui!!! PS: Will try to post more photos later, my iPhone photos are reportedly too large as is.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - Terrible Customer Service from Rebecca (front desk check in) and her manager "Kaui" Kauiolaakea Kaina A week before our 5 day vacation we received an email that said the big slide and the kids area (smaller slide, splash pad, smaller pool, etc.) would be closed for maintenance. ONE WEEK! I specifically booked the Westin because of this splash area for my two toddlers and now we can't use it with no notice to even change the trip around. I called beforehand and spoke with a manager who was super apologetic - put us on a VIP list, said we'd receive an upgrade at check in and something special in our room. The day we arrived to check in we were greeted by Rebecca - she was AWFUL! I've never been treated so poorly before. She had no notes about our reservation and did nothing to help. She offered us an "upgrade" but it wasn't an upgrade like we were promised. Rebecca was very quick to remind me multiple times that we had booked the lowest room we could there and that they couldn't put us in a nicer room that other people were paying for. I asked to speak to her manager and Kaui was just as bad. She didn't care at all that I was unsatisfied and did nothing to alleviate the situation. I've waited until I got home from our trip to write this review to see if anything positive happened between now and check in. One of the managers was very nice and provided some compensation for the inconvenience of the pool and the terrible experience at check in but it's all too little too late. My experience at check in still leaves me shaken as I've never been spoken to the way Rebecca and her manager Kaui spoke to me. Just beware that they could have maintenance at a week's notice. Also if you're unhappy make sure you do not speak with Rebecca or Kaui as they will not be helpful or compassionate for what you're going through.

My husband and I are Titanium Elite members, I made a reservation for me and my daughter they said I wasn’t a Elite member, they would not give us the free breakfast, most of the time we get upgraded not today. Micah at the front desk needs to get a different job. I will be making a call to Bonvoy.

We came this last summer knowing exactly what to expect. The best. We have returned year after year, since our now teenagers were infants. The location of the Westin is FABULOUS; very centrally located along the Kaanapali shore to multiple restaurants, great shopping, and entertainment. However, there is little to no reason to ever leave the resort itself! We have 4 children who have also fallen in love with the hotel, amenities, and cleanliness, but especially staff. The staff has always been pleasant, kind, honest… and “Michael” has now become family. In addition to everything the hotel has to offer, Michael is why we return to the Westin. This trip, we found him upstairs in the (beautiful, new) lanai. He has the most warm, kind, sincere, funny, and magnetic personality… and is always full of captivating information and stories about the island itself, the vegetation, and Hawaii’s juicy, homegrown pineapple. We will be back (we now can’t bring ourself to go anywhere but the Westin!), and are counting the days.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Westin Maui Resorts & Spa, Ka’anapali earlier this summer. The grounds are immaculate and the pools alone were worth the cost as they provided endless entertainment for the kids, allowing the parents to relax. We stayed in the recently renovated Hokupa‘a tower. The rooms are well appointed and this tower is worth the upgrade as it provides access to extra benefits of The Lanai. However, as much as the facilities alone warrant a 5-star rating, it’s the staff that truly make this resort spectacular. Make sure to find Michael who has extensive knowledge of the island and goes above and beyond expectations to make you feel at home. One of our kids will forever refer to him as “his friend from Maui”. Todd and all of the staff at The Lanai are also top notch ensuring your vacation is a wonderful experience.

My family was very happy 😁 with this hotel 🏨 ! Main points: 1) If you can afford it, book a room in the Ocean (Hokupa’a) tower, not the main tower. Why: - rooms are larger; - 2 queen beds 🛌 , not double beds 🛏 ; - all rooms have ocean view; - MOST IMPORTANT: gives you access to the lanai area with morning and evening “bites”, which are offered unlimited buffet-style, so in effect become full breakfast and dinner. This is especially helpful if you’re with kids! None of the rooms have kitchenettes, so you won’t be able to make your own meals anyways. 2) excellent, caring service. One day the plug at the bottom of our sink wouldn’t come up, so we called maintenance. They came promptly, fixed it, then came a second time to check it was working and left a 🔨 -shaped chocolate piece ☺️. Another day, they had to shut off hot water, so they chose the least busy time and then called each room individually with apologies for the inconvenience. In general, everything was smooth and easy. 3) right in the middle of action. Next door to Whalers Village, a popular shopping center with boutiques, restaurants, a playground and plain-air movie nights. 10-min walk to Black Rock, which is a great spot for cliff jumping and snorkeling. Beach right by the hotel is very good too. 4) Awesome resort grounds. What to enjoy at the resort: - 5 pools (1 for adults only, the rest are for everyone); 2 of them are separated by a channel with waterfalls - 2 water slides - one for little kids, one for bigger kids; a splash pad for toddlers - a series of waterfalls, beautiful landscaping - ponds with koi, toads and flamingo; kids can feed koi every morning; also, 3 parrots and daily photo opps - we took advantage of a game room with board games, foosball, shuffleboard, Wii Fit, arcade machines. - a couple of bars and restaurants (always hopping). - shave ice sold from an old VW van 🚐😆

We stayed for 5 nights in the Hokupa’a tower with Lanai access. This my 3rd time staying at this hotel over a span of more than 20 years. I would return here again if staying in this part of Maui. The resort grounds, beach, and surrounding areas are beautiful. The staff were friendly and service was great throughout our stay. The Lanai access (7AM - 7PM) was well worth it as we were able to have breakfast there each day. They have snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) available throughout the day and also have some food options at breakfast and dinner. There is also a bar in the Lanai where you can order other drinks and food for an additional fee. 2 issues: 1. The room class we booked (2 queen beds with ocean view) was not available, so we were given a room with a king bed with sofa bed. The sofa bed was not comfortable. Even though we appreciated the upgraded view from the room (poolside vs. black rock beach), for a family of 4, this setup was suboptimal. 2. There was no hot tub option for kids under 18. The pool staff monitored this regularly. This was my first time visiting with kids, so I did not remember it being an issue in the past. This was disappointing for our teenagers. They should create at least 1 family friendly option. Parking and resort fees seem to be the norm anymore, but with the high cost of the room (even with cash and points), things added up quickly.

My family traveled here at the end of July 2022. We spent 4 nights in Waliea first and arrived in Kaanapali for the end of the trip. We stayed in the Hokupaa Tower with the extended Lanai for more space. This room includes The Lanai access which is basically the "club level." Its basically a full breakfast, snacks and drinks all day and appetizers that you could make dinner from. We were even served filet mignon one evening. It was fantastic. Alcohol is not included. The Lanai also included cultural activities, free of charge. We learned and tasted Maui Gold pineapples and the kids took ukulele lessons. If you can afford it, it was a game changer. We went there each night before bed for a night cap. Stunning views. The pools were busy but we always could find a place to sit. There were many full-service cabanas to rent and many were available on a whim. The resort is next door to Whalers Village for shopping, markets, restaurants...all you need. My teenage kids preferred this location to Wailea. More action, more families, more approachable. My husband and I stayed here as newlyweds and it continues to be a favorite spot.
