We’re delighted to have you as our guests! Our Princeville accommodations offer all the perks of a vacation rental along with award-winning service from our friendly staff. Located on Kauai’s North Shore, Hanalei Bay Resort captures the island’s beauty inside and out. Voted #1 for Mid Range Hotel and Boutique Hotel by Best of Kauai 2018. A Daily Resort Fee of $25 plus tax and a Parking Fee of $10 plus tax per night will be collected at time of booking. The restaurant is currently closed for renovations. The newly renovated Happy Talk Bar and Lounge is opened to enjoy food and drinks at this time.

Our Sidewalk and Walkway Repair project is underway in our constant efforts to beautify the Resort. The scope of work includes cutting of concrete and excavation intermittently throughout the property. Work is limited to Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Heavy noise can be anticipated during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The resort's exterior paint project will also continue through the end of the year. While renovations should not adversely affect you, there may be some construction noise.

We have stayed here 2 times now, and loved it both times, staff is amazing. The rooms are spacious. The resort is clean. The grounds are pristine. Their is a lot to look at if your a plant person. The views are breathtaking. And the beach is always calm and serene. I would be jealous of anyone that booked it.

HBR has a great setting overlooking amazing Hanalei Bay and the mountains beyond.. It's beautifully landscaped. We (3 adults, no teens!) stayed in a 2BR condo that was arranged through the owner. We like having the facilities to make breakfast (after the rooster wake-up) and picnic lunches. The restaurant opens mid afternoon, so some self-sufficiency is also necessary. One pool is big and showy and sees more usage) while the other is less used. Both are beautiful. Several families did cookouts with the BBQ set up. The beach is pretty - lots of trees- and a short walk on a charming path. It's more reef-y underfoot. Unfortunately, One Hanalei Bay has made a construction site of the final bit up to the beach. There is shuttle service on golf carts, which is helpful if you have luggage or groceries or beach gearas all parking is at the top off the hill (so out of sight for most units.) Tennis is popular and there's a small gym. The staff is friendly and helpful. You will need to drive to get pretty much anywhere, and this is a great base for exploring the north side of the island. But you will be really happy to come "home" to HBR after every outing. I hope to return.

We rented through Parrish rentals and had a beautiful condo. The property is absolutely gorgeous. Floating in the pool at night with only the tiki lights and underwater lights while listening to the live music from Happy Talk is such a surreal experience. The little beach is lovely and quiet. Our only complaint is parking. You pay a daily parking fee while its near impossible to find parking while Happy Talk is open. If they can figure out parking, I would 100% stay here again!

We had never stayed at the north end of Kauai and decided to stay for several days at the Hanalei resort. Now I have to say it rained, and it rained a lot, while we were there and that impacted our visit, but I cannot blame the weather on the resort. It rained so hard we had a variety of birds seek shelter on our lanai, finches and cardinals in the rafters and doves under the table. We chose to rent our unit through the resort rather than through a service, just because of issues we'd heard from others lately elsewhere on the islands, and the rental service was good. The unit was clean, everything was well explained and we had no problem getting our security deposit back in a timely manner. The unit itself was on the second floor with the view out over the garden to Hanalei Bay. The view was great when the clouds cleared briefly. We also always found parking close by so didn't have to run through the rain too far. The unit had a good bed, TV, chest of drawers, cabinets, couch and coffee table and chairs for 4 and a table on the lanai. There was a small kitchen with stove, oven, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster. The cutlery was sufficient, and there was a mix of half a dozen plates, and a variety of bowls etc. There were only 4 wine glasses, mugs and water glasses, which was a bit problematic. The bathroom was a good size for two people and the shower was also a good size. A private clothes washer and dryer was in a closet in the bathroom, so we did not have to use the common coin laundry. Outside on the lanai were beach matts, boogie boards and other beach paraphernalia. The one problem was that the air conditioner was not very strong. I do not like leaving an air conditioner on at night, but I do like a cool room to start the night. The only way we could get the room cool was to turn on the struggling conditioner in the afternoon and close up the entire unit until bedtime. And before you comment, I know not to set an air conditioner too low to avoid the unit freezing which will kill its ability to cool a room. We did use the barbecue one night. It is located on the other side of the pool through the garden to one side of a set of tennis courts. A bit far to walk, especially in the rain, but fine. Unfortunately only one of the two barbecues was working. We did not try the pool; it was not heated and int he rain not much fun. The gardens are beautiful, the bird life (chickens and nene) interesting and the walk down to the beach while a trek was enjoyable. All in all, I would recommend the Hanalei Bay Resort, but try and go when its not raining.

This property should not be called a resort. It’s a condo complex. We stayed in a 1 bed/1 bath unit with a very nice view and upgraded kitchen. The rest of the unit was highly disappointing and in need of upgrades and basic repairs. We rented from Parrish and have expressed our displeasure to them. As far as the “resort”, I’m still trying to figure out why we paid $548.00 in resort fees and parking in addition to what we had paid to Parrish to rent the room. The pool was freezing cold and the hot tub was out of order the entire two weeks of our stay. There was no housekeeping which we knew in advance. The on-site restaurant doesn’t open until 3:00pm so there are no breakfast or lunch options. And unless you get a seat at the restaurant right at 3:00pm, you’ll be on a wait list for an hour or more. The grounds are beautiful and most of the staff was friendly and helpful. We found the security guard a little brash with his constant policing of wrist bands and telling a young dad and his daughter that “floaties aren’t allowed at the pool”. I don’t mind paying a resort fee when I’m at a resort. HBR is not that.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom studio through Airbnb on the 3rd floor room 6302 and I don't think any unit could have a better view of the mountains and bay. Room had all our basic needs with a small fridge and microwave. Bed was super comfortable and unit clean. Decor was dated (owner said it is scheduled for updates,), but who cares with the view we enjoyed on the deck. It rained every day but we didn't let it stop our adventures. We ate at the resort restaurant and it was good. Great value for this beautful resort and owner was very attentive to our needs.

We rented a “studio” unit for $500./ night from Vacation Realty, I think they manage this unit. It was not a studio… we had to wash dishes in the bathroom sink, which didn’t drain! How gross! The place smelled musty-wet. The headboard for the bed was just leaning against the wall, not attached. The noise from the unit next door was unbelievable: we could hear every word they said. The grounds/pool were nice, but that’s an additional $35.00/ day fee. We checked in at 4pm and had to be out by 10am; not even 72 hours for $1500. I wish we had stayed in a hotel!

Horrible experience. This is like a time share in a suburb. If you don’t want to go out, don’t mind walking past trash to get to your room and are ok with one restaurant on the premises that closes at 9pm you’ll love this place. Anyone else, stay anywhere but here.

It was so good to be back! The resort is as lovely as ever. The setting could not be more perfect. We spent several days just relaxing in our room and enjoying the gorgeous views. While there were a couple of issues that came up, in today’s world of massive employment shortages it is completely understandable. The HBR team is one of the hardest working teams we’ve seen.
