This resort was beautiful. The only problem is we were there for 4 days and didnt have maid service. They did however bring anything you need. The resort is very big. The pool is stunning. Lots of room for kids to run around and play.
I don’t know whether to be more upset about the lack of amenities or the insensitivity, gaslighting and complete lack of care that our frustrations have been met with. We are currently staying at the Westin Princeville for a 15-night stay. Our third visit to Kauai; our first at Westin Princeville and likely our last at any Marriott property based on our treatment here. We travelled from Ireland and booked two rooms as two of our children have special needs and need their own space. We researched the property and called the hotel twice to flag our situation and ensure the property was a good fit. We made a personal decision to spend twice our vaca budget on a hotel rather than self-catering. We need a proper break. We arrived to discover: - There is only *one* restaurant/bar that serves until 7pm. There is nowhere on the property to be served a drink after that time. The front page of the website advertises three onsite restaurants and bars. If you dig around, you can see one is closed. Fine. The customer advocacy manager then claimed the one restaurant counted as the other two mentioned as there was also a bar in it. Yes, really. She said that. The ridiculousness was only topped by the GM who claimed to not know what star grade the resort is meant to be. It’s meant to be 4 stars. - There is no breakfast apart from grab and go in the market, whose “all day breakfast menu” had sold out of many options by midday - There is no in-room dining service - There is no housekeeping. They clean rooms every 8 days. - The website is a dupe and seems designed to deliberately deceive guests. As an example check out the ‘next level of clean’ section where they talk about ‘enhanced’ cleaning service for 4 screens before the final line that says there is no daily housekeeping. It’s not right - in many instances, it’s just plain misinformation and the gaslighting that has followed makes it feel all the more deliberate. It was disappointing to arrive and realise we would have to pivot our vacation plan. I had to go grocery shopping for a family of five with no car and kids who can’t tolerate being at the grocery store. Oh and a broken toe but that one is on me! I did my best to find a personal positive in early nights since there was no opportunity for hubbie and I to be served dinner or a drink alone after dark. But what I am struggling to get past is the attitude of the management who claim it is all on the website. I asked the GM to show me where all of the above was listed and of course, she couldn’t. I asked for it to be escalated and she passed me to a “customer advocacy manager” who was equally unhelpful and incredibly insensitive saying it wasn’t the hotel’s responsibility to cater to my family’s special needs and that the website language was open to interpretation and they were choosing not to compensate us. The customer advocacy manager actually said it was not that she was not empowered to help us but that she was choosing not to. I honestly have never experienced anything like it. I have almost written this review as a form of therapy so I can get it out and make the most of our time on beautiful Kauai. We are very tolerant people - it comes with the territory when you are raising kids with special needs - and that somehow makes our experience at the Westin Princeville all the more abhorrent.…
Absolutely beautiful property! My family and I had a villa that was spacious and very accommodating. The bathroom was HUGE, there is tons of storage throughout the villa. The grounds were immaculate, NO BIRD POOP ANYWHERE, it was peaceful and lovely. There is no housekeeping, but staff was happy to bring extra of anything we wanted.
Firs time here and we got our room through an unique timeshare arrangement (i.e. not our timeshare) and ended up with a 2 bedroom suite on the ground floor with partial ocean views (hard to see in photos due to photo exposure) and access to the pool and hot tub just 20 feet from our sliding doors. Even though the kids club wasn't available due to covid times our kids (10 and 13) had an amazing time and enjoyed all of the pools pretty much everyday. While there is not direct beach access, I took a early morning walk down to the Anini/Wyllie beach was 10-15minutes on a steep but wide trail (much easier a hike than Queens beach).
We had a 1 bedroom suite for our family of four and loved our time at the Westin. We had a room overlooking the ocean and it gave us a lot of privacy. We all agreed that our location on the property was perfect. We notice a lot of people grilled out their dinners and they had plenty of space for people to do that. The pools were nice though the seats did fill up fast. The room was modern and clean and we got a roll away bed that was very comfortable.
As a first time visitor to Hawaii I had many hopes and fears for this trip, especially since we were in the midst of COVID and its travel restrictions. Once we ended our trip all of my hopes had been realized and I realized my fears were for naught. The property was beautifully maintained and the view from our villa was majestic and serene. We booked a two (2) bedroom lock-off villa via Go-Koala. This property is marketed as a Westin but it is essentially a time-share resorting not a hotel. The unit had two(2) full bathrooms, a full kitchen and kitchenette, two (2) lanais, three (3) large flat screen TV's, and two (2) stackable washer/dryer units. Bring a streaming stick (Roku, Fire Stick, Chromecast, etc..) if you want to watch your favorite streaming services as the TV's weren't Smart TV's. There are several pools on the property. One of the them was located behind our unit and we could see it from our lanai. There are BBQ grills around the main pool area for you to BBQ at. Parking was free for us since we were considered owners since we rented our unit from a owner. There is an on-site restaurant and gift shop/convenience store that we never shopped at. We purposely went straight from the airport to Costco to shop for food as we were sure of what was open and closed on the island. Costco has everything you need. You will need a rental car to get to this resort as it is about 45-60 minute drive from the airport. There is a bus route along the main road however it is a long walk from the main road to the resort. Ride-share service is not the best in the area and is expensive. Our rental car only cost us less that $500 for the entire trip because I kept rebooking once I received alerts from Autoslash.com when the rate I had already was lower. All in all this was an excellent property. I would again emphasize to people this is essentially a timeshare resort and not a hotel, therefore do not have the expectations of a hotel.…
Had an amazing seven days at Westin Princeville. All of the staff was amazing and friendly, Especially at check in. The Concierge was accommodating and provided a lot of info plus a bunch of ways to save money at the local businesses. I stayed in a studio which was clean, well appointed, and has an amazing bathroom with jetted tub. We went to the pool almost everyday. Pool side drink Service was hit or miss depending on the day but definitely great drinks. I learned quickly, If you tip well they will keep coming back. If you don’t tip well it’s gonna be a minute between drinks haha. I also rented a cabana for a full day and that was amazing. Drink service in the cabana was on point the entire time. Never had to wait for a drink or food. The cabana was AMAZING and fairly well priced. Would definitely do it again. The market place has Great coffee every morning and I was never disappointed with the service or the offerings. The prices are definitely a bit over priced, but it is Hawaii and very convenient so I saw past that. I heard a lot about the parking before I went by reading reviews… put it this way, if you arrive to park any time after 5pm it’s going to be somewhat full. BUT with that being said, there was always ENOUGH parking spaces, you might just have to walk a bit. I didn’t mind this at all, as long as I could find parking spot I was happy, but I could see how this might be disappointing for others who don’t like walking or if it’s raining. The grounds over the entire resort were very well maintained. I heard a lot about bird poop being an issue by reading reviews and this was 100% false. The bird poop was NOT an issue at all while I was there. Yes, there was bird poop but it was well managed and never once was an issue. I was in a first floor room, and the patio had birds outside but my small patio with chairs was very clean and I could easily walk out barefoot with out any issues. Overall, I was totally happy with my stay and very impressed. I’ve stayed in many high end resorts over the years and this one definitely matches up. Shout out to all the pool staff… super friendly and always helpful. I didn’t meet anyone on the resort with a bad attitude. Everyone was working hard and always friendly. Everyone on the island is struggling to maintain staffing and this is very evident in many of the business, so I truly appreciate that it didn’t feel evident here. I always felt 100% taken care of. With that being said, Thank you everyone at Westin Princeville for working so hard to provide guests with a memorable and wonderful time. As you know, good service can make a vacation wonderful and bad service can easily ruin a vacation. Thank you for making my vacation wonderful, and Thank you for working so hard during these tough times, You are all truly appreciated. Hopefully I’ll be back soon!!…
The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful and grounds are kept up. Studio room was quite disappointing. Definitely needs an update it is old and tired and not that great of experience. Ice machine was broke the majority of the time so we couldn’t get ice. Walls are extremely thin so you hear absolutely everything from every neighbor above you, next to you, and below you. Disappointed because we’ve had timeshare for over 20 years. I hate to say it but this is my least favorite resort to stay on. We below our expectations for the cost. That being said once again the staff was phenomenal
Very nice grounds and pools are pleasant. Parking is rough and they do charge $18 per day for it. I don’t know why they even have valet as no buildings near it to fully take advantage of the parking. Spacious kitchen. Could use some more recycling bins, but there are some near elevators. Nene birds and roosters everywhere. Very beautiful kept grounds. Heated pools.
This is most definitely the worst customer service of any Westin property I have ever stayed at. It is a timeshare property so they use that as every excuse for not having proper hotel services. At check in late at night due to a late flight and after 1hr drive from the airport I was told there was no water available on checkin, but there was no way to purchase water either. So their suggestion was to drive a half hour away to a shop that was still open. Later after I complained they told me I could call housekeeping to get some. No one answered the phone. It wasn’t until I complained to the front desk in person that they delivered bottles to my room. Additionally we had a small emergency overnight and they had no way to provide any assistance be it even a bandage or Tylenol. I had to drive the 40 minutes to another area of the island overnight. Every Westin should be equipped to handle minor medical issues of their guests. The management would not grant even a one hour late checkout as “they don’t have to recognize elite benefits”. Remove the Westin name from this place it doesn’t deserve it. However, The property has a nice pool and is well maintained.…
