My husband and I stayed here for 10 days early December in unit 505. The condo location was perfect, and overall the condo itself was nice. We arrived about 2pm, with checkin being 3p, however the condo was not available until almost 4pm due to late housekeeping. When we did get it the unit was very clean and greasy. After check in I left a message for the manager since according to the listing it had a safe, we never did find it now did we receive a message back.

In Dec the weather is cool enough, but in the afternoon the living area and deck were unusable due to the heat. The bedrooms are actually on the ground floor(you go up a set of steps to the entrance and back down to the bedrooms). Due to the ground floor location, there was little to no airflow and the bedrooms were very warm even in the evenings. They did have multiple fans and we utilized all of them, and with the ceiling fans going by about midnight it would cool off enough to sleep.

There was also multiple units under construction while we were there, given that it was Dec I’m sure it may be normal to do this durning slower times. Overall the construction didn’t start until 8am and most times ended by 6pm, but lots of clutter on the sidewalks and it made the front deck unusable due to noise durning the day.

The kitchen was very well equipped, and they had small coolers and multiple beach items for use available durning the stay. We did use the beach chairs and they were in pretty good shape. The complex itself has a nice pool and the grounds were kept pretty well.

Overall I think we would stay in the complex again, but probably not in this particular unit mainly due to the heat in the afternoon and evenings.

Response from ParrishKauai, Manager at Nihi Kai Villas
Responded Jan 31, 2020
Mahalo JMBPDX for taking the time to review Nihi Kai 505. We apologize on the later check-in, the previous guests unexpectedly left late which pushed our cleaning crew back. For your next stay, please know that more than half of our Nihi Kai units now have AC, so we guide you to one of them. We understand it can be warmer with the afternoon sun and no trades. We show no message received about the safe (we apologize if we missed it) but there is a safe in the hall closet next to the washer and dryer. On the construction, we are sorry it disturbed your stay. Look forward to hosting you again. Aloha

Unit 809

Nice quiet 2 bedroom condo. Very spacious throughout. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you need. Lounge area was comfortably furnished. Bedrooms were large and air conditioning units were great and kept both bedrooms cool. The lounge would benefit from an air conditioning unit as it did get very hot in the afternoons. The curtains in the lounge and bedrooms were not proper curtains, more like net curtains just for privacy. However blackout curtains would have helped prevent heat buildup in the lounge and also not allow light through in the bedrooms in the early morning. Bathrooms were functional but the shower controls were very difficult to pull out and would benefit from some lubrication. The provision of shower gel, hand wash, shampoo, and conditioner was a nice touch.

Nice lanai with lovely views. Great place to eat dinner and watch the sunset.

No phone which was a disappointment. This maybe ok for visitors from the USA but not so good fro visitors from the UK as using your cell phone can be very expensive.

Communication from the owner prior to arrival was good and all questions were answered promptly. However pool was closed for one day for cleaning which we understand but would have appreciated being informed about this as other guests had been informed by the owners.

Nice pool area and gardens were lovely and very well maintained.

Overall a nice stay.

We stayed in #202 for 4 nights but wished there were more nights available, as this was really ideal accommodation for our family of 2 adults and two young teens. This unit is above the office and looks over the pool area so you do get some pool noise including the very hard working maintenance team from pretty early on. It did not bother us at all, we appreciated the upkeep on every aspect of the property including the BBQs which seemed to be remade as new every day. The unit itself has a huge living area, good kitchen with everything you might need, and a lovely balcony. Downstairs are two bedrooms one with a king and the other with two singles, both with en suite bathrooms. The washer and dryer was in great shape, free pods supplied. General state of the unit was older but all looked after and maintained well. There were beach chairs, umbrellas and a couple of boogie boards to take to the beach - useful to have, though both the boards were broken and not really usable so need replacement. But you can rent at the beach for a few dollars a day. No issues with parking, sometimes the BBQ was a bit overrun but there is another one at the back of the complex next to Bldg 8. Excellent location, just walk down to the beach. Well done Parrish Kauai, you are doing a great job with this accommodation!

We stayed in Unit #503.

First, the staff was wonderful. Thank you for always being available and responsive.

Next, this place was perfect for us. "Us" being for me (62 yrs old) and my travel-mate (also 62 yrs old) for the first week, as well as for me and my daughter (29 yrs old) for the second week. YES, this unit "island casual", so no granite countertops. The furniture showed its years of use, BUT, the living room furniture was comfortable, as were the beds (we did not use the sofa-sleeper). The kitchen was VERY well stocked with more than you would expect (good cooking pans, blender, slowcooker, travel mugs, toaster, etc). The stove was the only older appliance, but it worked well (we did not use the oven). The refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher were all newer. There were a few ants present, but if you empty the trash regularly, I don't think it will be a problem. It wasn't for us. We did not have an issue with the 'no air conditioning' in this unit. We opened the windows as soon as we entered and were fine; even sleeping. (Side note, we had friends staying at the Marriott Timeshare just 1/2 mile away and they also had their windows open most of the time instead of using their air conditioning.) The washer/dryer was older and small, but it worked great for us. (Detergent for one load provided.)

There were so many extras, like coolers (even one with wheels for the beach), beach chairs, beach towels, tote bags, boogie board, tennis rackets, etc. I think this has been a vacation rental for a while and many guests have left items for the next guests to enjoy.

We made the 1/2 mile walk to Poipu Beach several times. I have my own snorkel gear and snorkeled twice. It was easy and I saw many fish, as well as turtles and seals.

Out of my two week stay, there was only one night that we couldn't park in the parking lot and had to park on the street. No biggie.

We didn't eat out much. (Covid19 restrictions made it difficult.) We did eat out twice and both restaurants I can recommend "Brennecke's Beach Broiler" and "Keoki's Paradise". Good food, service, atmosphere and drinks. We also at at "Puka Dog Hawaiian Style Hotdogs", which is attached to Brennecke's. You can get a Polish Sausage or a Vegge Dog (we had the vegge dog and it was delish!) and fresh squeezed lemonade.

I thank the owners for making this "home away from home" available to us, because that is truly what it felt like. I hope to come back here again.

We stayed in unit 705. Great location. Minutes to walk to the beach and restaurants. This unit is dated very 70’s. But it worked well for us. We were really only there to sleep. There is no AC, but leaving the sliding glass doors open in the bedrooms at night and the ceiling fans on it was perfectly comfortable to sleep. Living area is in the top floor and bedrooms are downstairs. Washer and dryer also downstairs. Balcony on both sides upstairs and small patios outside each bedroom. Beautiful view from upstairs. Pictures are from one of the balconies.

Stayed one week at the Nihi Kai Villas, love our condo. The kitchen was very well stocked, each bathroom supplied shampoo/conditioner, soap. The grounds are spectacular, groundkeepers worked very hard to make the property look like paradise. Very short walk to Brenneck Beach.

A perfect vacation stay in unit 807! Check-in was breeze and staff was very helpful and responsive! They had the unit ready before check-in time at 1 pm which worked out great for us. This unit is on the second floor in building 8 and had it's own private entrance. As soon as we walked into the unit, we fell in love with it and also got sad that we were going to spend only 5 nights there.

The unit was extremely well appointed and had everything we needed. The entire unit was beautifully decorated with a colorful hawaiian theme. We loved the cane furniture and the cane shades on windows and doors. Gorgeous ocean views from the lanai and from bedroom and living room windows. We enjoyed our morning coffee everyday watching the sunrise and a variety of birds chirping and we enjoyed delicious home cooked meals watching the sunset. Kitchen had everything you could think of. We did not eat out at all and prepared all meals in the unit. It was also very convenient to have a washer/dryer in unit. The extras such as beach chairs, mats, cooler etc were a nice to have. There was no air conditioning in the unit and we had no issues with that. The weather was perfect in december and it actually felt so nice to keep windows open, sleep without any AC or heater for a change, breathing fresh air. We did use ceiling fans and pedestal fans in living room and bedroom at times.

The property grounds were beautiful, lush green and well maintained, no less than a botanical garden. We didn't use the amenities but they do have tennis court, grill and a small swimming pool. The popular poipu beach is just a 10 min walk from the villas and you are treated to beautiful blue ocean views all along.

The customer service was one of the best I have experienced. Highly responsive staff, very friendly and helpful - Kevin and Alicia who in particular helped us through our stay. Cleaning ladies showed up right when we checked out and they were really sweet ladies.

We had a perfect stay and will definitely return. Highly recommend nihi kai villas!

We stayed in 403 which has ac. The bummer is that the bathrooms are on the bottom floor. The pool area is nice, great view and close to ocean. Our condo was fully equipped to cook and bbq. They provided boogie boards, chairs, coolers and mask/snorkels. Lots of hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes available. View was great saw some dolphins.

This is not a perfect unit, but I still rate it 5 stars. We were very happy with the size, cleanliness and comfort of the unit. Great mattresses. It was great to have a partial ocean view, and we LOVED the quick walk to the beaches! The kitchen is well stocked and there were some beach accessories. The layout of the unit is strange. It would be nice to have a half bath upstairs, but it wasn't that bad to go up and down stairs. The west bedroom is quite Toasty, especially in the evening. There is a working portable air cooler in the closet, but we didn't take time to figure it out (the venting). We loved staying in this unit and would stay there again. PS This unit is not for those who can't do stairs. You go upstairs to get to the unit, and then downstairs to get to the bedrooms. .

We enjoyed our stay at Nihi Kai Villas in Kauia. The resort is just across Poipu Beach. The tranquility of the environment, the fresh air, and the warm ocean breeze with luscious greenery reality gave me a real sense of relaxation and peace. The customer guest service staff were very good in providing information and a timely response to any questions. I would like to give a special mention to Patty and Kevin, for excellent customer service. This resort really thought of everything that you will need while you are in vacation. Complete kitchen gadgets. Beach chairs and umbrellas as well as coolers and beach toys for the kids. You will not need to bring anything except yourselves and clothing when you stay at this resort. Thank you Nihi Kai for a great vacation. ❤
