We hosted a family reunion in 3 villas from May 14-21. Wow - could not have asked for a better experience, thanks to the hard work of the fantastic employees at Waiohai ! Our villas were all exceptionally clean & fully stocked with everything we expect from Marriott Vacation Club villas — all kitchenware you need to host that many folks, cleaning products, toiletries, towels, etc! Everything was in good working condition except for the sofas. I don’t know why they are consistently uncomfortable at MVC properties, but that’s a minor inconvenience. Waiohai’s pools were in great condition & the grounds looked great! We spent almost every morning at Poipu Beach, which is truly right off the resort grounds. Saw monk seals & sea turtles each morning, watched surfers, and snorkeled each day! The employees are who make Waiohai the very special spot in paradise that it is, though! We appreciate the whole team — from maintenance & housekeepers to activies! Special thanks to: Austin — night auditor extraordinaire! He is so knowledgeable, kind, & helpful! Michelle — bar tender -/ great service & mai tai class. Kai — front desk — he is so very welcoming, kind, & helpful! Carol - Honu bar waitstaff - kind & efficient. We love staying here. The staff is so attentive. We love that we can step out of our patio door and walk right to the beach. The views are gorgeous and accommodations so comfortable. We highly recommend the resort!

Great location with beach access, snorkeling, pools. Took several walks, saw turtles and seals on the nearby beaches and watched the sunset every night! We stayed in a two-bedroom room and had plenty of room for two couples to cook, relax, enjoy the week!

We have been time share owners for 18 years. Every year when I get my maintenance fee invoice, I swear I am going to try to sell (as it is not cheap). But practically every year we go back (we have very occasionally traded properties, but we have yet to find anything even close to the Waiohai). We are never disappointed, and given the daily room rates at the Marriott and elsewhere in Poipu, the annual fee is becoming a bargain. We can't wait to go back the next year (we are already booked for 2024). The property has been well maintained over the years. And the level of service has been improved to the point that I think it is impeccable. The staff are, to a person, amazing. The front desk staff are the friendliest and most accommodating and service oriented of any property I have ever stayed at. Cudos to the management, who have truly succeeded in developing a strong culture of service; authentic, warm, friendly, and efficient in every department. This year, there were 14 family members staying in three units. The accommodation was perfect for us. I would actually like to keep it a secret, but Poipu truly has to be one of the most wonderful places on the planet. There are a myriad of activities available and lots of restaurants nearby that would be among our favourites if they were in our hometown. We feel blessed to have access to this paradise on earth and to have had the opportunity to make incredible, lasting memories at Waiohai and Poipu. Maholo Waiohai! …

We stayed at the resort May 2022. The day before we left I went to swim laps after the pool opened. The flagstone was still wet and super slippery and I fell. Next thing I knew I was flat on my back with my daughter kneeling over me. I was kind of embarrassed so I said that I was okay and told my daughter to go ahead and I would swim and be up to the room. I got up to the room and clearly didn’t feel okay so phoned down to the desk to ask them to review the security footage because I was worried about a concussion. Told me for legal reasons they couldn’t share it with me. Okay. So I get back to California and go to get my front tooth that was broken fixed etc. Go to the doctor, they do an x-ray, say nothings broken, get physical therapy…it will just take time. No kidding. Ten months later, the tooth that was knocked out is now needing an implant done as the post didn’t work. I phone the Marriott and told them that it was now starting to run into money. Now they say they don’t have the video and the person at their insurance company basically came up with some crazy explanation why it was my fault. She said that they would cover $2,500 which doesn’t come close to my out of pocket expenses. The man at the pool who saw it went to the front desk and reported it. He told my daughter who was also at the pool. Instead of treating me fairly and and covering my medical expenses, (I asked for nothing more) they chose to say that it was my fault that I fell on the wet flagstone and basically called me a liar. We returned to Waiohai after a four year absence thanks to COVID. What a pleasure to be back. This remains our favorite respite in the Hawaiian Islands. Beautifully landscaped and manicured, nestled in the waters off Poipu Beach, Waiohai is a small, quaint and comfortable property perfect for quiet and relaxation. Several renovations have been undertaken since our last visit (LVP floors, changes in decor and more). Don’t miss this South Pacific gem.

I was worried because of some of the reviews that spoke about awful views but we didn’t have that problem. We were in building 1, it was toward the back but it was perfect because close to the pools and we have little ones. The resort itself is beautiful. The wildlife is amazing- seals, turtles etc. The staff at the resort is all so sweet. I had called several times before we came with questions and they had so much patience. If we called for anything when we were there, like more detergent, they came so fast! We loved the location in January because it was warm and rained for very short periods of time. The water was amazing but it could be a little rough. sometime there were Currents so always be alert. Also, bring water shoes. I did not and got a gash. There’s an area that’s much calmer for kids called turtle bay. Overall, it was close enough to some incredible hikes and we loved it. Thank you Marriott for an awesome trip!…

I really liked this hotel. The only down side is that they inly have the pool side restaurant that is ONLY open from 11am to 7pm…if your tire and your not prepared to cook your own meals at the villa this can be an inconvenience.

If you are not a Vacation Club owner then you will not feel welcome here. You are treated completely differently than the owners, and you feel it from the minute you check in. The front desk staff was also rude at every turn - when I asked for help with some hygiene products for my daughter, they laughed as I walked away. I have stayed at Marriott properties all over the world, and this is one I will not return to.

I'm all about the beach, especially an easy-in-easy-out gentle wave beach with warm clear water....so this resort definitely has the best beach in my opinion on Kauai and we especially enjoyed the frequent sightings of turtles and monk seals on our beach several days. Every amenity we needed was provided on the resort including a pool hut, beachfront bar with excellent food and drinks, several swimming pools and whirlpools (some adult only) and a gift shop that had a Starbucks and mini grocery store that had everything we needed from alka seltzer to ketchup to a hair scrunchy and more! My only complaint would be paying for an ocean view room (partial) because our balcony overlooked the parking lot of Poipu Beach and had only a glimpse of the ocean. Actually, because of the sunrise over our balcony, I would have preferred a garden view room for a relaxing morning coffee on the lanai (our balcony was blazing hot in full sun). We booked through Redweek and were not informed about the $22 taxes and parking fee added each day x7 for the week, but apparently this website has the best prices for booking directly with the time share owner. Our unit was beautiful and well maintained, however the kitchen only had the very basics for making meals and absolutely zero spices or oils, etc. The layout is perfect for two couples sharing a unit because there are king bedrooms on opposite ends of the living area and it was very private, with laundry located inside and plenty of room for everyone. My only complaint would be that the resort should provide beach chairs for on the beach (such as is provided at Napili Kai). There are plenty of lounge chairs on the grass near the beach but I wanted chairs either in the unit or provided free at the pool hut as well as towel service (beach towel exchanged each day at the pool hut would have been handy). It's these simple things that make a day at the beach a treat and not a chore and equal vacation for me! Overall would definitely recommend this beautiful and best location on Poipu resort!…
