Detailed Reviews
We had a fantastic experience. As Marriott owners, this was our first time to this property and we were very pleased. We had our COVID test 72 hours before we left Phoenix and had our results later that day so we did not have to quarantine. We had to show our Safe Travels barcode and results when we arrived at the airport, car rental and at the Marriott. Safety protocols were followed throughout the resort. You constantly saw men disinfecting rails, pool chairs and equipment in the fitness center. The pools were closed for an hour each for a disinfecting of the whole pool area. When you needed something sent to your room like toilet paper or shampoo, it was delivered quickly in a plastic bag. The fitness center was open for four hours daily from 7 to 11 in the morning. The grills were open starting at 4:00. Everyone was masked the whole week we were there with the exception of while sitting in your pool chair or in the water. (The signs were posted all around the pool and resort saying that.) The only things we missed were the activities, hot tubs and bar hours which were beyond Marriott's control.

We had 2 families with 2 units reserved over New Years Holidays
From the outset with being greeted by Ty, the front desk supervisor to the checkout we loved every minute of our stay.
Staff are kind courteous and understanding. The food we ordered from the poolside bar was fresh and delicious. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and recently renovated. Parking was easy. Not usual in Kauai.
Our only issue was that they removed towels if you hadn’t been in your chair for more than 45 minutes. When we asked why were were advise that it was for the safety of guests as much as making sure chairs were available as there was open access though the property to the beach and sometimes people were missing items. Understandable!
Looking forward to returning. 5 stars all around

The resort has beautiful grounds and extremely friendly and helpful staff. It is located on a swimmable beach in Poipu with close access to shopping, golf etc. We found the scale to be more in keeping with the location than the nearby Hyatt which we have stayed at previously— the staff is also less corporate and seemed generally happier to be there. There are a large number of free (or nominal fee) daily activities including Bamboo pole fishing which our kids loved — the staff for this event was really above and beyond warm and welcoming.
One small note that speaks a about the resort and the people who work there. We mistakenly left $260 in cash on the safe in our room. The staff immediately moved into action when we called after our plane landed, found the money and seamlessly credited to our bill which had already been run. The honesty and speed with which they handled this left a real impression on us and was totally consistent with the personal, friendly and high level of service we had all week.

Relaxation with the comforts of home means you can stay longer! Modern resort offers a full kitchen and washer/dryer. The attention to detail is evident from the kitchen appliances to the range of tv channels (to entertain your smallest travelers). The Poipu location offers beach access, a warm pool, nearby shopping, dining options and many breathtaking natural wonders to explore.
The incredible staff made us feel welcome. Before we set foot on the island our concierge, Bart, was helping us plan our stay in paradise. He made our 3 week stay carefree and memorable. I also loved the text option for onsite assistance. We opted to try their Thanksgiving dinner; it was a reasonable fee and quite yummy.
We highly recommend choosing Marriott Waiohai for your Kauai stay!

Everything was so different this year due to the COVID restrictions—-and unfortunately it showed in many areas (not only at the Marriott). The employees that we did encounter around the grounds were all wonderful. It was obvious that the Marriott was short-staffed, and many things were not available as usual. It was a bit ridiculous this time to have people saving 4 seats at the pool (the first few days that were saved by 6:30 or 7 am!) so early! They eventually put up signs that helped make this a bit less of an issue. Hopefully, the next time we stay there things will be back to normal/wonderful! We were in 2 different rooms during our stay. The first room (looking over the pool/grounds in front side of Hale 4) had Very Comfortable beds and we slept like babies (or rocks?). The 2nd room (looking out the back of Hale 7) had adequate beds, but not ultra-comfortable. We also missed having a shaded deck to sit on in the mornings (one of my favorite things is to wake up and drink my coffee and read while sitting on the deck overlooking the pool and grounds).

We booked an ocean view 2 bedroom 2 bath villa for top dollar and we got a view of the parking lot with a sliver of the ocean. All the rooms that you can crane your neck to see the ocean are considered ocean view. If in fact you want to stay at this resort (which I would not recommend) I would pay less for a garden view room which is much prettier than what we got for an ocean view. If you book I would definitely call in advance to make sure your ocean view room is not of the parking lot!! Very very disappointing!

Aloha and thank you for your review about your recent visit. We are sorry to hear about your disappointment with the villa you received during your time with us. As a vacation ownership property, Owners do receive priority on villa location requests. However, the resort team will make every effort to accommodate. We do appreciate your patronage and hope to provide a better experience on a future stay.

Awesome trip to Kauai. We own every other year, and this was the best weather in our last 5 visits. Due to COVID restrictions, beach towels are in the room. If you need more towels, or anything, you text them and they bring the item directly to your room. Staff were awesome!
We were in Hale 8. We had a Very Nice ocean view from this Hale. Be careful, chickens can be noisy on the back side of 8. The beach is always wonderful. We saw whales from the beach area (many more than previous years), monk seals and turtles. If calm, go straight out on the beach to deep water for the best snorkeling. The reef is out there and it really is not deep water.
This resort is on the best location on the entire island. Units are all 2 bedroom with a living area. Full kitchens and washer/dryer
Will be back in 2 years.

We had a fabulous week at Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club in a 2 BR condo overlooking the pool and ocean. We were in Hale 2. Easy parking and access to our room, lobby, pool, and beach. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I had called a coupe of times ahead of time and they were always so helpful. I had a Safeway grocery delivery the day we arrived and they stored everything (including cold stuff) until we got checked in.
This resort attracts families and there are definitely alot of kids around the pool and on the grounds. I noticed it also attracts quite a few older and disabled peopled. There were quite a few walkers and wheelchairs. This is where I will travel when I'm 90!
We found the room to be very comfortable and we loved sitting on the deck in the morning and evening. The food at the Honu Beach Bar was really good. We ended up cancelling several reservations just so we could stay on the property to have dinner by the beach. They close early so you have to order by 6:45 pm. But food is much better than you would expect.
It's also in a great location with a swimmable beach and easy drive to restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend.

I'm all about the beach, especially an easy-in-easy-out gentle wave beach with warm clear water....so this resort definitely has the best beach in my opinion on Kauai and we especially enjoyed the frequent sightings of turtles and monk seals on our beach several days. Every amenity we needed was provided on the resort including a pool hut, beachfront bar with excellent food and drinks, several swimming pools and whirlpools (some adult only) and a gift shop that had a Starbucks and mini grocery store that had everything we needed from alka seltzer to ketchup to a hair scrunchy and more! My only complaint would be paying for an ocean view room (partial) because our balcony overlooked the parking lot of Poipu Beach and had only a glimpse of the ocean. Actually, because of the sunrise over our balcony, I would have preferred a garden view room for a relaxing morning coffee on the lanai (our balcony was blazing hot in full sun). We booked through Redweek and were not informed about the $22 taxes and parking fee added each day x7 for the week, but apparently this website has the best prices for booking directly with the time share owner. Our unit was beautiful and well maintained, however the kitchen only had the very basics for making meals and absolutely zero spices or oils, etc. The layout is perfect for two couples sharing a unit because there are king bedrooms on opposite ends of the living area and it was very private, with laundry located inside and plenty of room for everyone. My only complaint would be that the resort should provide beach chairs for on the beach (such as is provided at Napili Kai). There are plenty of lounge chairs on the grass near the beach but I wanted chairs either in the unit or provided free at the pool hut as well as towel service (beach towel exchanged each day at the pool hut would have been handy). It's these simple things that make a day at the beach a treat and not a chore and equal vacation for me! Overall would definitely recommend this beautiful and best location on Poipu resort!

We stayed at this hotel last week in room 1401 (hale 1, 4th floor). We checked out on the 6th to go to Maui. When we arrived in Maui I unpacked and realized we had left my daughter epipens for her severe food allergies. I called and was simply told the room had been cleaned and they had found nothing. They said I should fill out a lost item form from security, which I did. I reluctsntly accepted that at the time, but as the day went on I became more upset that I had been a bit blown off. I called again and said I knew I had left it in the safe and asked if anything could be done because this is potentially life saving medication. The response was that someone else had already checked into that room and they couldn't check until they had checked out. Had it been another family that needed their child's potentially life-saving medication, I would not be offended at all if the hotel asked me if something had been left in the safe from the previous visitor. Perhaps the hotel doesn't want to appear to another guest that they overlooked something between guests when turning over the room and that they obviously don't give it a thorough going over? But, this isn't some piddly thing that was left. It's was our daughter's meds that could save her life if she accidentally had nuts or peanuts. A simple text or call to the current occupant to inquire is all they would needed to have done. Twice I was blown off by the hotel. The longer I wait to hear if security found her medication in the safe, the angrier I get. I'm a marriott bonvoy member, but this has put a very sour taste in my mouth for marriott. Is this how they treat their guests? Yes, it was our fault that in our packing haste we didn't check the safe before we left. It's the only time we have EVER forgotten an item. But when you really, REALLY need customer service, they proved you cannot count on them at all.
Also, just so you are aware, there is no ice machine.

Aloha Susan, thank you for your review of your recent stay at Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club. We do hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay outside of the experience above. We understand the frustration of leaving something behind, but also not knowing if the team has recovered it. While it is not common practice to disturb the new occupants of a villa, it can be done for special circumstances. We apologize that our service was not exemplary in the situation and the inconvenience this has caused the rest of your vacation.

Yes, we were there in September and we took the master room with the huge jacuzzi tub after I won the coin flip - it was two couples traveling together. The room with the jacuzzi tub had a king size bed and I'm not sure if there would be enough room for a blowup mattress. The other bedroom had a tub/shower combo and the washer dryer in the bathroom and I believe a fold out couch where someone could sleep. I hope this is helpful.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Waiohai and are planning a return trip with our own grown children (3 between 23-26) because I remember thinking this floor plan was perfect for our family of 5.
Hope this helps!
No, there is no safe travel form required. Have a good time.
I am not sure, but I don't think so. You can call the hotel directly regarding this question.
