I read about some complaints and it seems some people have no clue on what is going on. 1. The pool size is perfect for the number of rooms at this location. 2. The Lanai are the largest of any resort in the MVC network. 3. Construction is only bringing more value to the Lagoons MVC. 4. Chances are you rented a car to get to the resort. Hence, use the car to drive to the restaurants. 5. No Bar at the pool. Well you are saving money by bringing your own cocktails down to the pool and it is only feet away from the pool. 6. The view is one of the best on the island with the blue ocean to the left, the green mountain and Lihue harbor entrance to the right. You can also use the beach in front of the Beach Club for free! The resort is peaceful and very quite. Finally, there is a restaurant and bar at the Timber Resort open to the public.....the walk is shorter. The Timber Resort area was the old Ritz-Carlton homes. The Marriott brothers stood at the Lagoons and said, the Lagoons land should of been the Ritz Carlton homes with the beautiful view. Finally, you can run into construction anywhere. At least, this construction is not on the Lagoons property. You go to Kaui to relax and not get up tight with your underwear in a bundle. Been going to the Lagoons since 2010 minus Covid years.…
We were really looking forward to our stay at Kauai Lagoons, first time we have visited this property. We knew it didn’t offer many amenities (no onsite bar/dining) but were surprised that there isn’t even a place (ideally Starbucks like other Marriott properties) to get a coffee. The rooms are beautiful and we had a lovely, large lanai. The people who work here are wonderful and try to help their guests in any way possible. The big disappointment for us was the construction activity. In addition to being an eyesore, the noise from the construction work really impacted our stay and our enjoyment of this property. (Picture with view from our lanai attached). Had we known we wouldn’t have stayed here. I’ve looked at Marriott’s website and see the construction is noted but it certainly doesn’t convey how much it will impact a stay here.…
The Marriott Vacation Club at Kauai lagoons is not all it seems to be. While the time share is beautiful, it is virtually isolated. The pool is very small. There is no access to a bar on the property. The same is with food - - no access on the property. Also, the property does not have a beach. Lastly, there is no access to the nearby hotel (and restaurants) from the property other than a personal car, as walking is long and tedious, especially if one has any difficulty walking. There was, at one time, access via a cart furnished by the property (Marriott). There is none now. While I expressed my concerns to the management, I was advised that all my complaints (see the foregoing) have been made many times before and nothing will be done about them. So, if one does not have a car and has difficulty walking, one is virtually stranded at the Lagoons. On all of our previous visits we at least had a golf cart furnished by Marriott to get us to the restaurants at the hotel on the property. The Marriott Vacation Club website does not mention any of the foregoing. Potential visitors should be made aware of the property shortcomings. Clearly, Marriott has the financial ability to fix the aforementioned issues, but they refuse to do so. Bottom Line: this is the LAST time I will visit this property.…
We are MVC owners and usually take a yearly trip to Ko Olina on Oahu with our daughter and her family. We decided to try something different this year and booked a 3 bedroom unit at Kauai Lagoons. We were a little apprehensive about the lack of on-site restaurants and no beach access, but as we finish up our week here, everyone agrees that it is one of our favorite vacations ever! Our grandchildren (ages 10, 11 and 11) loved the pool, even though it is small. It was never crowded (over Spring Break!) and we were always able to find shaded lounge chairs. There is a fun little slide. It was like having our own private pool much of the time. There were fun kids’ activities and an activity room next to a very good gym, with a pool table and ping pong. We had a ground floor unit with sliding glass doors that opened completely, so the kids could spill out onto the lawn and play. There were lounge chairs and a table on the generous lanai and BBQ grills just across from our unit. Nice walking trails with lots of wildlife and beautiful tropical plantings. The 3 bedroom unit is extremely spacious, with a gourmet kitchen, 3 bedrooms with king beds, 3 bathrooms, comfortable seating and even a separate laundry room. Tasteful tropical furnishings and artwork. The staff was very welcoming and responded to our every need. We were able to park our car right outside the unit, which we found way more convenient than waiting for a valet to retrieve our car. The resort is only minutes from the airport and shopping. We spent one day at the Kauai Beach Club, just down the drive, on day passes, so we could use their huge pool and spend some time at the beach. The beach is public, so if you don’t care about lounge chairs and umbrellas, there is lots of shade on the grass under he trees. All in all, this was one of the nicest MVC properties we have stayed at, and we plan to make this resort a “regular” on future vacations to Hawaii! We absolutely loved it!…
We were lucky enough to be invited to share this beautiful vacation club with some good friends. We had a beautiful spacious suite with a laundry room, large living dining room area, nice kitchen with everything we needed, spacious master bedroom with attached bath, nice sized 2nd bedroom also with an attached bathroom with a very nice walk in shower and a nice sized balcony off the living room. The grounds were gorgeous with tropical plants, flowers, a stream, pool area, outdoor fire pit and seating areas. The lobby had a small convenience store. There was yoga on the grounds and one evening they offered free marshmallow s'mores that we roasted ourselves. We had an awesome time here watching the roosters wander, the beautiful Brazilian Cardinal and the view of the ocean. We actually visited in May of 2018.…
We stayed at the Kauai Lagoons for 8 nights and it was wonderful! The place is set up for Covid and everything was spotless. Whenever you needed something, they will deliver in a prepared plastic bag. The facilities were as promised and as shown on TA reviews. The place is very well maintained. But it was the front desk staff that really impressed me- we were delayed by United Airlines for over 9 hours and arrived at almost 11PM; the front desk opened the little store for us so that we can get some basic water, snacks and juice. She also helped us bring all our luggage to our villa. Great Shout Out to her-I think her name was Leila (sorry for not remembering). She also recommended the great Thai Truck Food that was excellent (note that we also own at the Phuket Beach-Club and this comes very close to the food there). We got a 2 bedroom villa downstairs that opens to a private patio with super view- I recommend you get a villa on the first floor. Our Grandkids had a blast-just walking 1 minute out of the patio to the pool.…
Possibly 4 star, but here's the deal: no food or bar onsite. Also, huge construction views from a lot of rooms. I mean a big muddy pit, see photo. We just checked in, lovely staff. Decks are nice sized. No useable, walkable beach, you can drive to Beach Club. No bellhop assistant you are on your own.
I wanted to write a quick review, I was not a guest at this hotel, I was staying in Kapaa at Coconut beach, 2 of my friends who I travel with were staying here so I visited every day of my trip. I was greeted and treated very warmly by the staff here. They treated me as if I was another one of their paying guests and although this hotel was a little older, it was much nice and cheaper than the Sheraton Coconut Beach where I was staying. I felt more welcome here than I did at the hotel I was paying for. the concierge and front desk staff were excellent.
The property is pristine! The grounds are perfectly maintained and interior villas have nice furnishings and kitchen ware. Perhaps one of the best Marriott Vacation Clubs we have visited. But the real gem here is the service. The front desk personnel were so helpful and responsive that it really made our family reunion memorable. Candee, Azure, Brittany, Braden and the entire staff were patient with our group and couldn’t have done a better job.
I have been a presidential level MVCI owner for 10 years- and Bonvoy titanium elite. I have invested heavily into the Marriott timeshare products because they are consistently wonderful until I came to Kauai Lagoons. Don’t get me wrong, the property is beautiful and the beds were comfortable, but this was the MOST inhospitable Marriott of any level that I have ever stayed in. No one greets you when you pull up, the “welcome” presentation was the same girl that checked us in just walking across the room to the other desk and throwing some papers in a cheap bag. I was there with my fiancée along with our adult daughters to have a vacation as well as get married- no congratulations or well wishes were offered, no notes or bottles of sparkling wine- just cold indifference and no offers of help or suggestions- NOTHING like what I have Experienced in the past even at a Fairfield Inn. To make matters worse, this was my WEDDING- my medical staff tried to get in touch with the resort to send a surprise spa gift certificate- called multiple times, no one ever answered live- left messages, no return phone calls- when i went back to work today they were beyond apologetic because they felt that they had let me down, NO LEVEL 6 resort should not be able to assist in a fairly simple task. I have had my mother as well as two other friends tell me the same thing, that they wanted to send flowers but could not get anyone on the phone to assist them. This detracted from the spirit of the day because i could have been receiving surprises and special treats from family and friends and would have if anyone cared about service. When my florist dropped off bouquets at the front desk they called and told us to come down and get them instead of bringing to the villa! I Understand no housekeeping service because of COVID, but asking for fresh towels once during a 7 night stay for a 3 bedroom unit with 6 guests should not be met with any difficulty- again, this is a top tier property. Every question/request was met with either low key hostility at worst or indifference at best. I had to spend an extra $300 to get a room at the Kauai Beach Club down the street on my last day because they would not store our luggage or give us anywhere to hang out after 10:00 am checkout when our flights weren’t until 10:40 pm. You were not allowed to be at the pool except for a 3 hour interval that you had to sign up for in advance. However, once I was no longer a guest (post check-out time) i was no longer eligible to reserve pool time. I am most upset that this was a very special, once in a lifetime trip and very special occasion. Before this experience I would not have wanted to be anywhere but a Marriott property to spend my wedding week- the disappointment that i feel about the way I was treated will not soon be forgotten…
