Reallu loved this hotel, its location, the facilities were all amazing. Our room was big , spacious and there were nice little touches like a chilled picnic bag in the room. The bar was nice access to the bech was great
Rooms are functional, clean and spacious (I’m told a remodel is underway and that will make them even better). Grounds are lovely and well-kept and a pool room is steps from the hot tub and pool. Ocean is just yards away, free yoga every morning, and the STAFF! Every single one was lovely, warm and delightful. Mahalo!
Loved our overnight stay and took full advantage of the fabulous gardens, free bikes, yoga and beachfront. Staff were friendly and helpful. The free beachside yoga session was the perfect way to start the day. And a seal even joined us on the beach. Definitely recommend for a genuine Hawaiian experience!
I loved this hotel. It’s located in Ka’Paa, just a few miles north of the Lihue Airport. From the standpoint of luxury, it’s not a 5 star resort like some of those in Poipu. It’s a mid priced (by Hawaii standards!), older hotel that has been refurbed in Art Deco style. Open air lobby, beachfront, 2 pools and hot tubs, on site restaurant, the Lava Lava Beach Club, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (very good food, excellent coffee, great bar - it is all open air as well). From the standpoint of service, it is five stars PLUS. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. Front desk staff was tremendous, parking attendants, housekeeping, bartenders, restaurant servers, gardeners (grounds are beautifully kept), maintenance- everyone we encountered was lovely. You pay a daily resort fee of $22 per room, but there is a lot included with that. Yoga on the beach. Valet parking is free, and you may wish to use it, as the parking lot can get very full. In addition to the Lava Lava, there are several very good restaurants near to the hotel. The Hukilau Lani is next door - highly recommend. Gaylord’s is also not far. I loved the laid back vibe of this hotel. They organized a vintage muu muu show one evening, and judging from the attendance, it was thoroughly enjoyed.…
I needed a hotel for a work trip and was referred to Kaua'i Shores, I was very impressed by the friendly staff, clean and comfortable hotel room, enjoyed the restaurant on the beach, and the hotel was close to shopping center.
Kauai Shores Hotel: the Kapaa location is convenient, staff is friendly, and rooms are nicely furnished. Definitely would recommend this place to others, I will be back for future trips. Our group uses this place for our hotel accommodations often.
I needed a room for the last 2 days of a 2 week Kauai vacation and landed on the Kauai Shores following a google search. It's an older hotel but well maintained, centrally located, clean and with immaculately kept grounds. Has a nice old Hawaii vibe to it with the bright colors and retro style furnishings. I paid a little extra for the ocean view room and highly recommend it. The Lava Lava Beach club situated on the property (also rated 5* for me) has evening music which I could listen to from my lanai. Staff are very friendly and the free valet parking was nice as it gets busy at Lava Lava. The Coconut Grove Marketplace is right next door which is also handy (walking distance). There is a 2nd pool which I discovered the next day. It was quite cool because it is shaded for most of the morning but I had it all to myself. The bikes are a real bonus, I checked one out and went up the coast. It's stunning. Coming from Canada with a 1.35x exchange rate, it's not cheap but neither is anything in Kauai. It was actually one of the least expensive hotels on the east coast. Only a couple of negatives: - partway thru my shower (with a head full of shampoo) the water suddenly turned cold. It turned warm again after a minute or so but fluctuated quite a bit. - coming from the south I initially missed the turn and pulled into the Coconut Grove Marketplace to turn around. Oh my goodness, the traffic at 3:00 was horrendous and it took a while to get back on to the hwy. Fortunately people are polite and there is a bit of a zipper lane to merge into. There was construction at the time but even completed I imagine it's a challenge heading south from the hotel during rush hour since there is no traffic light to get back on the highway. That being said, neither of those issues would deter me from staying again. I had a wonderful, restful couple of days to end my vacation. Thank you Kauai Shores! …
We only stayed one night but had a great time! The grounds are well kept. The rooms are not super fancy but quiet, clean and comfy. The vibes of the place are fun!! The restaurant, morning yoga, yard games, pool, and bar on site were great (live music at night and we were able to watch our home football team during the day). The location of the hotel are central to many activities. We would recommend Kauai Shores Hotel 100%.
We spent four nights here and we were very pleased with almost all aspects. Super tight parking was the main negative...but we learned to park it before evening and walk to everything we needed. Being close to Coconut Marketplace is quite handy! Our room was well maintained and the bed was comfy. We especially loved the ultra quiet a/c unit. The hotel's beach access was top notch...just a few steps to the water. Also the courtyard with games, pools, and such was a great bonus. Lava Lava Restaurant gets high marks for quality and the setting on the beach was perfect. We especially loved the cool January mornings enjoying coffee either there or on our lanai. We have always enjoyed Kauai as it's quite the opposite of Oahu. Traffic on the road from Lihue to Kapaa is another story, but, hey you're on vacay in the islands,...just chill!…
Pro: Front desk staff is efficient and friendly. The room was tidy and well looked after by housekeeping staff. The grounds were nice. The beach was very beautiful although the reef made it difficult to swim out very far. The connected yet unaffliated restaurant was surprisingly tasty and lively. Con: The guests can be a bit noisy in the hallways and two of the nights I was there a Harley with extremely loud pipes insisted on driving around the parking lot. The traffic to the general location can be tough at different times although the hotel is on a fairly quiet side street. Upshot: Pros far outweigh the cons. Good little place for what it costs
