We are so happy that we found Simon's place. It is absolute perfection. We stayed in both the Elvis Suite and the Love Shack and loved both of them. It's literally a minute's walk from the beach and Simon provides you with boogie boards, chairs and an umbrella. The arrival was easy and the stay had everything we could have needed. Both the Elvis Suite and the Love Shack were very private and tranquil, and the water pressure was phenomenal. The space was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. We were lucky enough to meet Simon and he is lovely. Since we've gotten back, we've told all of our friends and family to stay there. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed in the Love Shack in early July for part of our honeymoon. From the moment we arrived at the gorgeous property, we could tell we were in for a treat. Arrival was made easy and the stay was fully equipped with everything we would need for a fun beach & adventure week in Hanalei. From beach bags to boogie boards, the place was stocked with pretty much every item one might want for a fun time at the beach and we took full advantage when we went to the beach which was just a super short walk across the street. The space had a very private outdoor area for just us and even had a private outdoor shower which was awesome. The location was super close to town - very walkable to go to restaurants and shops. It was also close to the Waipa Park and Ride that we booked to go to Hā‘ena State park for our hike on the Kalalau Trail (TIP: this is a fantastic hike and you must reserve a shuttle or parking way in advance!). We were lucky enough to meet the owner, Simon, who was wonderful. He showed us everything to get us settled in and we chatted with him a few times - awesome guy all around. The space was clean, comfy, and the decor was absolutely awesome - all done by Simon himself. Do yourself a favor: ask Simon about staying in the Loveshack! You won't regret it.…

We were so glad we went with Simon's place, it's a little paradise within a paradise. Super tranquil, lush garden, a 10-min walk from town, a 1-min walk to the beach... Truly a special place. On top of that, it feels like home. You won't be disappointed.

Simon's place is just perfect. It's just a minute walk from the beach, and he provides everything you might need for a day at the beach, so you just have to bring yourself and your clothes - everything else is taken care of. The decorations and design are incredibly thoughtful, as is Simon himself. The house is also just about a 10 minute walk from Hanalei, everything is walkable. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if/when we return to Kauai. I wouldn't spend another minute considering anywhere else on the island. Stay here and have the best vacation you could possibly imagine.

Loved this place! Such a peaceful oasis, just a 5-10 walk onto the main drag of Hanalei. The place had everything we needed, was so uniquely and wonderfully decorated, and Simon was a delight. He had great recommendations for us and is very knowledgeable about the area/island. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay at the Hanalei Surfboard House! It was very comfortable and the location right across the road from the ocean was great. The decor is fun and eclectic. The Love Shack room that we stayed in had high, vaulted ceilings with fans and A/C that worked great. This room has a private patio with an outdoor shower and BBQ and table/chairs. The host Simon is very nice, responsive, and helpful. We can't wait to return here again!

Is there a perfect place to stay in Hanalei? Yes. And it is the Surfboard House. My husband and I were there for 10 days and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect, amazing, comfortable, convenient place to stay. And Jackie, our 'landlady' for the week was kind and friendly. The grounds were gorgeous and beautifully landscaped. The room was comfortable, the king sized Temperpedic mattress was SO comfortable. We both loved the quiet neighborhood, no loud parties. And we appreciated the privacy and the private back patio. This was a semi-working vacation for us, so we needed wifi and had a good strong signal. The small kitchenette worked for us since we went grocery shopping for breakfast and lunch meals, and had dinner out. We're from a surf town in California, so close proximity to a surf location was important. The Surfboard house is literally 1/4 block from the beach, basically walk across the street and you're nearly there. Also very convenient to walk into town. Hanalei is a very quiet, laid-back town with a casual surfer vibe which we prefer. We are not shoppers, nor do we want expensive fancy meals. Hanalei was perfect for us. Just about everything you could need to hang out at the beach was there. Bodyboards? Check. Umbrella? check. Beach mats? Check. Beach chairs? Check. Cooler? Check. Beach towels? Check. I've stayed in many places around the world from Africa to France and Italy and this is one of my favorites. We didn't want to leave and if we go back, we'll definitely stay at the Surfboard House.…

The surfboard house is a one of a kind place to stay. The owner is signing pots is incredibly personable and fun to talk to. The rooms are unique well appointed and one of a kind. It is a short walk to town and is a perfect place for a unique getaway.

It is difficult to describe just how awesome the Hanalei Surfboard house is. We took a trip last week and it was recommended to us. It did not disappoint. The owner, Simon, has constructed a beautiful place for couples (or singles) to stay. It is a mere 2 minute walk to the beach and probably less than 10 min walk to town. While we had a rental car, we barely even used it. The courtyard at the surfboard house is a treat all in itself. Very peaceful and relaxing, with beautiful plants and flowers, pleasant water features, lots of lizards and the friendliest talkative little kitty you will ever meet (don't worry, she stays outside). And Simon was amazing, friendly and helpful in every way. We hope to return again sometime in the future and I could not recommend this place enough if I tried.
