We arrived after a long wonderful day of driving from Kahului through the Volcano National Park on to Hilo. We planned to go back Volcano National Park but we were so entranced by our wonderful room and stay in Old Wailuku Inn that we took our time going out for the day! The view of the sea is spectacular from the dining nook or from the seaview rooms. You can watch the sun rise over the water from the Inn which sits on a cliff over the Pacific Ocean. Unobstructed and beautiful. The hosts were absolutely welcoming and helpful in every way. They made us feel like family or old friends. Their advice helped us and they referred us to a perfect restaurant for dinner. There was a generous inn kitchen with beverages and there were books and games as well as beautiful rooms and dining area. We loved the beautiful and customized breakfast!…
We spent a couple of days in this nice location and were pleased by the extreme friendly service of Bill. The room was spacy, clean and nicely furnished. From the breakfast room we had a nice view on the bay of Hilo. Within walking distance the center of Hilo can be reached.
We spent three nights here. Very quiet get away! Breakfast cooked daily to order; coffee always available. Easy access to Hilo; lots of good restaurants. Very friendly and accommodating owner. We enjoyed our time.
We really liked this place. Our room was literally on the shore, as in five feet from the water. It was big and beautifully decorated. First time I’ve ever asked a B&B owner where she got the linens. The bed was a bit soft but comfortable. The bathroom, a former closet, was small but really well done. There was a table and chairs where we ate dinner. I’m sure we could have eaten in the breakfast room. Breakfast! Wow, it was really good. The selection of jams and syrup was fun. We bought a few of them once we got home. The couple and their staff were very nice people.
Most amazing room ever Our room had a corner of windows right above the ocean. The endless sounds of the waves was amazing. I don’t think I will ever sleep right above waves like this again. Easy location in Hilo. I would pick that room again. Nice breakfast. Nice hosts. I We used their snorkeling equipment.
Owners greeted us on their expansive front porch with rockers, showed us complimentary drinks and snacks, where to stow contents of our cooler (and blue ice), and then to our lovely room. This grand 1922 home on the water has a few, large, very comfortable rooms. Our room had a cozy twin bed with lighting and lots of comfy pillows for reading, and a good size table and chairs looking out over the bay. King mattress a dream. Breakfast starts with a platter of fruits, followed by a choice of a few fresh cooked entrees. I tried the toasted coconut and chopped macadamia nut pancakes with real maple syrup and bacon, yum! Hilo area has been somewhat overcome by a very loud, nighttime chirping frog, the coqui, sadly brought over from Puerto Rico. The sound of the waves help overcome it, as did the new windows. It was cool enough to close them and turn on the overhead fan. Very quiet. We've previously stayed within a few blocks of restaurants at Hilo Bay Hale which is also very nice, but we'll stick with the trade off for a short drive for dinner.…
This B and B may be a little off the beaten track but it is a wonderful place to chill out and enjoy being surrounded by nature's sounds. The hosts are especially accommodating, and they filled all of our needs. The room itself was a bit small but the ambiance made up for the size. We loved the sounds of the birds and of the waves. Breakfast was made to order and delicious. Highly recommended for couples.
We just finished up a three night stay here and I can't recommend it enough. Due to a cancellation, we got upgraded to an oceanview room, it was beautiful (Thank you!!!!) Comfortable bed, lots of room, and beautiful ocean breezes. Sleeping with the sounds of the waves right outside the window. Breakfast was great, good selection and a wonderful fruit plate to start. Location is perfect for anything on East side of island and Volcano National Park. Very close to many restaurants, Hilo airport, and several waterfalls. We loved it, hope we can come back some day.
My husband and I spent two nights at this fantastic BnB as we explored Hilo and the surrounding area. I had never stayed at a proper BnB before, and now I'm afraid I'm spoiled for life! We stayed in room #3, a corner oceanfront room, and I already miss it. The waves are so incredibly soothing, and the sunrise view couldn't have been any better. As others have mentioned, the breakfast service was fantastic and made to order. We're early risers, and they were up and ready to serve at 6:45am! I'm vegetarian and my husband is vegan, and they made sure to suggest options that fit our needs. I was impressed that snacks were made available each day, as well, which we happily took advantage of -- granola bars, fruit from their property, etc. I truly can't think of a single thing that could be improved. If you're a fan of BnBs, you will not be disappointed!…
Emmett and Cheryl became our dear friends as we chatted over breakfast. They overfed us every morning with all the delicious fruit and made to order breakfast, it was so yummy we simply couldn't resist. The room was spacious and had beautiful antiques and so faithfully kept to the feel of an old house. Sleeping with the windows open and listening to the waves crash was so peaceful. They have tons of stuff for us to use towels, beach stuff, sunscreen. Couldn't think of a better place in Hilo.
