I agree with with some of the other statements regarding comparisons with the brand Aman. This one will disappoint. There are many pluses, however. Our room was large and very comfortable with outstanding views. In fact, the views were incredible all over the resort. I think what I was most disappointed in was the service. It lacked any kind of warmth. In fact, some staff made us feel as if we were putting them out. Again, an exception were the bellmen. As the first to greet you, they were helpful and very warm and welcoming.
If you are used to staying at Aman resorts all over the world the Amangani will be a huge disappointment. The rooms have not been updated in 20 years and show major signs of age and disrepair. The rooms and common areas do not have a luxurious feel. I guess the owners figure why put any money into a place that continues to bring in such high room rates. Two stars instead of just one because the staff are all very nice and polite, the food at The Grill was good, and the view from our room of the Tetons mountain range was lovely. Stay at the much nicer Four Seasons Hotel in the Tetons Village.
Amangani is a tranquil mountaintop resort with breathtaking views. The overall style of the hotel is timeless. Despite some wear and tear in our room, as well as in the public spaces the hotel achieves a strong sense of place and calming aesthetic that is reflective of a typical Aman property. The hotel is well-situated to showcase unbelievable views from multiple decks, lounges and the pool area. The rooms themselves are all western-facing and have equally impressive views from stone patios or balconies. The room was efficiently laid out with a nicely stocked, complimentary minibar, plenty of storage space, gas fireplace and shower and soaking tub (both of which provided privacy and terrific views. The dining experience was generally good (and much better than some of the TripAdvisor reviews led me to believe it would be) with a wide selection of appetizing choices and the option to dine in the restaurant, lounge or outside. The live music and multiple fireplaces added to the relaxing ambience. The pool and hot tub are standout aspects of the property. The main pool is large, heated to 85 degrees and has plenty of seating (especially considering the hotel only has 40 rooms). The hot tub is oversized and attached to the pool providing a nice place to take in the view or stargaze at night. The gym is nicely equipped but very small. If there was more than one other person in the gym it might have felt cramped, but luckily despite the hotel being sold out when we were there I didn't encounter anyone else during my gym visits. The spa similarly has pretty limited facilities. The treatments we received were excellent, but the shared facilities, number of treatment rooms, lounge area etc. were all a bit underwhelming given the caliber of Aman and price of this particular resort. Service was inconsistent throughout the experience ranging from stellar (front desk and bellmen) to average (restaurant and housekeeping). If you are staying in Jackson Hole, the two properties that are generally considered the best in the area are the Four Seasons in Teton Village or Amangani. I could see a person choosing either depending on their needs. The former is ski-in/ski-out, has a better gym and spa, and generally better service. However, Amangani's relative strengths are unmatched -- it's positioning on the mountain, incredible views from every angle and minimalist, calming architecture is so great that it may cause a person to overlook the flaws in the experience. Plus with a much smaller room count, even in peak season, the views and pool will not need to be shared with many other people. Overall, Amangani smartly utilizes its stunning location while providing an intimate and relaxing experience just outside of Jackson Hole.…
We had a wonderful few days at this beautiful hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and every part of the property has stunning views (especially the pool area!) The activities team gave us great ideas for our time in the Jackson / Yellowstone area, and we especially loved our wildlife tour with Drew. The service was superb - with thoughtful little details like fresh water bottles in your car, a backpack for use around the area, packed picnic lunches, and much more. My only slight gripe was the food, which wasn’t always as good as we expected. Overall we loved our stay. I’m sure the hotel is an amazing place to be during ski season, and we hope to return.
We have stayed at many luxury resorts but Amangani is our new favorite and we can't wait to return. The resort has a very special zen feeling that we have never experienced at any other resort. Every room has a breathtaking view and is laid out with detailed attention to beauty and comfort. The service is exceptional, highly attentive and personalized. We loved every meal, spa treatment, yoga, the pool, library and many special amenities. Every aspect exceeded our very high expectations. We planned to spend our time in the park but didn't want to leave the very special peaceful home of Amangani.
