Detailed Reviews
We stayed here over the 4th of July weekend Friday through Monday! Robin, was so accommodating and gave us good information on places to visit. So much to see and will definitely be back at this location. Breakfast is amazing and the deserts are delicious! Robin takes her time to make all of her guests feel welcomed and at home. I take milk in my tea and Robin made it available. Tea and coffee available at 7am with delicious deserts throughout the day! Robin asked upon arrival if we had allergies to any food. Each morning with breakfast, Robin gave us a freshly baked muffin or scone to take with on our travels for the day. I have stayed at a BNB before, but this was exceptional, was never treated so kindly. Our accommodations was very clean and comfortable, super soft towels and sheets. I forgot my hairdryer, but had one available in the bathroom. Chairs to take with to the park also available. Very conveniently located with great parking. Our experience here was "OUTSTANDING", will definitely go back and stay here again!! Robin really cares about her guests and it shows in her service. There is a sign in her foyer that says "Come as guests, leave as friends". We could also see the fireworks from the balcony off our room - Amazing as we sat there at night having a glass of wine after we returned from our day out!

Robin was a wonderful host for our brief stay in Door County. The B&B is in a home that was built in the early 1900s, but is well-kept and in very good repair. We were in the smallest en suite room and were comfortable. Breakfast is served every day at nine and was delicious. Robin was accommodating of our dietary restrictions which was very much appreciated. If you are looking for a genuine B&B experience, this would be a good choice for you.

Our trip to Garden Gate was our first time at a B&B. We didn’t know what to expect. The food we ate was great but it definitely felt uncomfortable that the innkeeper would become upset when you could not attend breakfast or did not show up. I also felt that some of the little things were lacking. For example, if you have a double whirlpool in the room it would be nice to have bubble bath or those small touches that you think of when staying at a small place. There also was not mini toiletries that I would expect on vacation just in case you forget something.
When I think of a B&B I also expect to converse with the other people staying there, but the breakfast conversation was taken over by the innkeeper.
She came into our room when we were out and we did not know that would be happening. It would have been nice to have a do not disturb sign. We were also expected at breakfast at 9 am which was not shared prior to booking. This effected our daily activities and plans.
It was great to be provided muffins and water before trips and activities. We also would come home to cake.
B&Bs are not for everyone. I wish I would have known some of these things prior to my stay.

Our stay at Robins BnB is pleasant. The room is clean and comfortable. The full breakfast is very delicious! It’s so big we even saved muffins for after hiking snack. It’s location is so convenient, you can walk to the waterfront of downtown Sturgeon Bay, restaurants and shops. Robin is very helpful with local highlights, she also accommodated our late check in.

The Garden Gate is very clean & well kept. Robin, our innkeeper, is an amazing person. Very personable and cooks the best breakfast you can imagine. She also knows the area very well, was able to suggest great places to eat for lunch & dinners, and local attractions and events happening at the time of our visit. She makes you feel like you are visiting family instead of just staying at a 'hotel'.

It was a good one. I think! Robin does a lot for being just one person. The food is delicious! Our breakfasts for the weekend all came in these crème brûlée dishes. The room was cozy and the bathtub was everything we had hoped for! Robin was friendly and we felt comfortable having breakfast in her home and with others.
Things that make this a 4 star instead of a five star:
bedding and sheets aren’t cleaned between nights which is something you should be prepared for if you’re used to hotels.
The house is clearly old, and marketed as so, but the fit and feel of the doors (Lavender Room) was unexpected. Maybe that’s just how they were back then, but privacy is one thing that b&bs need to do extra so patrons feel safe. But yeah anyway.
I never found a DVD player to watch the dvds that were out in the hallway. I’m not saying that it wasn’t there, just that I couldn’t find it, and we explored the room quite a bit.
Little things:
Our lighter didn’t have oil in it.
Maybe a little more variety in meals? I left wishing we had a waffle or pancake (as basic as that sounds).
That was our experience. House is beautiful, wish we spent more time in and around the house to appreciate it more.

Wonderful overnight experience with delicious food, gracious hostess, and good conversations with other guests. We had planned to leave early in the morning but after returning from dinner with the wonderful aroma of freshly baked cookies and cake that were delicious, we decided to take our time the next morning and so glad we did! The breakfast was delightful and we enjoyed the conversation with our hostess and guests. Well worth the later start to our day.

Charming, quaint, Victorian B&B. We spent two night there, beds were comfy and we woke up well rested. Robyn prepared a delicious hearty breakfast every morning, flower accents from the garden were a nice touch. Mostly it was warm, welcoming, and homely.

This house is very beautiful but the real treat is an amazing hostess! She’s very welcoming and an excellent chef. This house has many features of an old Victorian style home which has beautiful wood woodworking. We enjoyed our brief stay and recommend this anyone staying in the area.

Robin is a delightful host who does a great job---she was very friendly and outgoing and joyful in her job. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our stay immensely. Breakfasts were excellent and plentiful. Robin has the yard nicely decorated with pretty flowers, etc. The location was perfect for walking down the block for the Harvest Fest, which in itself is reason to visit Sturgeon Bay. There are numerous places to eat nearby.
