We stayed here 4 nights and loved the place! The sunset views from the balcony are outstanding and you're right on the shore of Lake Michigan (the bay) in Door County. It's a wonderfully quiet area and easy to get to the various attractions in Door County from here. Management and the employees are easy to work with and made our stay extremely enjoyable.
Very impressive! Room was very nice-had a 2 bedroom suite. Views phenomenal and staff very friendly! Nice and quiet but close enough for excursions! Had kayaks and paddle boats guests coul use as well!
I absolutely love staying at Westwood shores!! The rooms are so clean and the staff is so nice and helpful! I have stayed at other places in Door County and this one is definitely the cleanest! It has the most beautiful view of the water and the sunsets are magnificent! I definitely recommend staying here!
Being on the north side of Sturgeon Bay is a good location for trips to Egg Harbor, Fish Creek and Ephraim. Can go to Baileys Harbor on Lake Michigan side as well. The facility provides good family entertainment and allows meal prep inside to help keep meal costs under control. Staff are very friendly.
I had high expectations for this resort, given the reviews. However, I left disappointed and dissatisfied by the conditions of my 2 bedroom unit. I am not someone who needs the newest and best to be happy; however, I do need to feel as though my room is clean and sanitized. Unfortunately, this was not my perception at Westwood Shores. My toddler and I stayed in the second bedroom (double bed, separate bath) of a 2 bedroom unit, while my parents stayed in the larger bedroom (king bed, combined bath). Upon closer inspection of my bathroom, I was disgusted (and slightly traumatized) to see a large pile of long brown hair affixed to the drain of my shower. I travel a lot and have stayed at a wide variety of hotels and resorts all over the country. I understand that sometimes things can be missed. This was not one of those situations. To be completely honest, it was as if someone had cleaned out their hair brush and placed the hair in/ on the drain. It was the size and amount similar to a small bird's nest of hair. I wish I took a photo but I was so grossed out, I immediately grabbed it with a thick wad of tissue and flushed it down the toilet. In retrospect, I am so relieved my parents weren't using that shower, as they probably would not have noticed it until stepping on it while taking a shower. Based on the amount of hair, I am certain that the shower was not cleaned or was merely spot cleaned because there is no way it would/ could have been missed otherwise. It left me wondering what other areas of the unit were spot cleaned, only to give off an impression of cleanliness. Because I did not want to draw my parents' attention to it, I ultimately decided to suck it up and try to enjoy the rest of my stay. Luckily I had clorox wipes with me so that I could wipe down the unit myself. Upon returning home, I provided the resort with my feedback and received a brief phone call with a verbal apology for my bad experience. Aside from my issues with cleanliness (or lack thereof), the view of the bay was beautiful. We really enjoyed the outdoor pool, although it's in need of some TLC (broken, missing tiles; patches). We would have enjoyed our balcony but it was covered in cobwebs that had been there for quite some time and my son kept sticking his hands in them. For me, the resort was not worth the money I paid. It is highly unlikely that I will stay there in the future at that price point. And, I do not think the units are as clean as they lead you to believe. …
