Detailed Reviews
We were warmly welcomed when we checked in and greeted each time we arrived back to go to our room. Also had a very good free breakfast. The customer service was very good. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The WiFi was reliable.

I have come to this base several times over the past few years and I've always stayed in the hotel there. Ever since IHG took over, The place has done a complete 180. The staff is friendly and helpful as well as the amenities like the in-house gym and breakfast. I highly recommend that anyone who travels this way stay here!

My stay at the IHG Army Hotels Fort McCoy Bldg 51 Anderson Hall was a great stay. This may have been one of the best Army hotels I have been to. The room was comfortable and the staff were amazing. I will definitely stay here again.

I've visited this hotel many times but this recent stay was one of the best!! I love this complementary shuttle service and breakfast! The rooms were very clean and has a nice layout!! The only suggestion I have is the slow WIFI! Other than that, I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends!

I can say that since IHG tookover the hotel on the fort, my stays have become even better. The breakfasts are excellent, there is a useful shuttle system, and of course the rooms look great! All of the employees I interacted with were professional and nice. I lool forward to staying here the next time I have to visit Fort McCoy.

Fantastic location, outstanding service, very reasonably priced! This is our 4th year in a row and looking forward to the next gathering. Right down the street from the gas station where you can pickup anything you need.

+1
Stayed three nights at this location. It was nice to know that the IHG has taken over the location and brought the standards up to what I would say is the Holiday Inn standard. The room is adequate for one person, I would not push two in a room. The bed was a full or double size. The walls are paper thin, and the shower head gives you about the size of a silver dollar on your body as you cleanse yourself. However, the location of the facility is second to none if conducting business on the Army Reserve Post. Check in and out, maintenance, housekeeping and overall service is as good as anywhere else. They offer the breakfast in a dayroom on the second floor. It is not as robust as a holiday inn. I will be staying again for the location and the good nights rest and hospitality I was receiving. The only complaint for myself was the shower-head. Unrelated to the room is the lack of places to eat on post. Tomah is the best place to grab a bite to eat. Since the post is almost dead, business has fallen. Thanks for reading and as expected a video on the YouTube channel. If this review helps give a thumbs up!

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We have been making steady progress on our renovations with the ultimate goal to be branded a Holiday Inn Express. All of the issues you identified are in fact scheduled to be upgraded before branding. We look forward to your next visit.

This is the first time that I had an opportunity to stay at IHG branded military lodging and my expectations were exceeded. The facility is located on Fort McCoy; about 12 miles off the Interstate 94 in a very rural area - not much around other than the installation itself. Upon arrival, I noted the exterior of the building and grounds were modern and well maintained. Check-in was a breeze and the desk attendant was friendly and helpful. IHG even offered up a free welcome bag with a bottle of water and snacks. The room was smallish but well appointed to include fridge/freezer, microwave, large stylish bathtub, flat screen TV, and decent free WiFi (helpful since the AT&T signal was very weak here). The room and furnishings were all in top notch condition and it had a real hotel feel as opposed to typical military billeting albeit at a somewhat higher price. Really no complaints at all and would certainly recommend a stay if you’re eligible. As an added bonus, if you’re a member of the IHG Rewards club, you do get reward points.

Stayed here for a TDY trip only because I wasn't familiar with the installation or either Sparta or Tomah, the two closest towns. They seemed more than I wanted to drive daily in winter weather. I am more critical of this hotel because it services our Military and their Families and frankly expect quality accommodations.
First, this hotel is a little interesting to find. I arrived in the dark and this installation is not well lit. Managed to come upon it by accident. Check in was smooth. I would like to say that the staff of the hotel is excellent. They were all very friendly and went the extra mile.
Upon arriving to my room, I was immediately hit with a distinct smell upon opening the door. It literally smelled like a nursing home. I had to check the bathroom and trashcans to see if there was a dirty diaper or something. I couldn't find any cause to the smell at the time. I had to go down to the front desk to ask to borrow air freshener which they happily let me do. I hosed the room down multiple times and could not get the smell to go away. It wasn't until later in the evening that I discovered a strange switch on the wall that I didn't know what it went to. When I flipped it, the heat and the fan turned on. I didn't even know the heat wasn't on. The switch isn't labeled and is higher up on the wall than the others and hard to notice. After about 20 minutes of the fan and heat going the smell went away. I noted that I had to keep the fan running all the time or else the smell came back, however the fan is actually pretty loud and was enough to bother me and keep me awake in the evenings. The layout and feel of this room is not super appealing...it has the ambiance of a barracks room. Which, lead me to wonder if the building was previously barracks that were remodeled into a hotel. In fact, the chair beside the bed is the same, old barracks style furniture. The other furniture was very plain. This particular chair was gross with strange stains on it. It was not used during the trip...gross. The closet area is a double open closet with a ton of space to hang clothes - however only a few hangers on just one side of the closet where provided. Would have liked to have hung up more items. The bed has a horrible metal frame that creaks loudly with the slightest movement, but the bed was fairly comfortable.
The cleanliness of the room could have been better, there were several large stains on various areas of the carpet. The maid service varied day-to-day. Some days it was good and then others it was like they hadn't entirely finished. One day they didn't completely remake the bed. Other days they didn't replace the coffee, the shampoo and conditioner or the tissues when they ran out. One day, I went to get into bed at night and moved the pillows to find some strange black shavings all in the bed that took some time to get out - I have no idea what they were or how they got there.
The free breakfast in the hotel was mediocre at best. It was the typical powdered eggs and sausage one day, super dry biscuits and gravy, and equally dry pancakes and french toast another. It was good to have since I was short on time in the morning but wish they would expand options so that there were more protein options and less carbs. There was a dinner social on Wednesday evening that was nice. Meatball subs were available. They were not great, but not terrible...Although I couldn't figure out what exactly the meat was since it had a very interesting texture and color. It was good to grab a bite for free to keep my trip costs down.
Overall, if you have to stay here it isn't the absolute best, but you could do worse.

Dear parkerflyHI: Thank you for choosing IHG Army Hotels, Fort McCoy for your recent stay and for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience. I would like to start by apologizing to you for the inconveniences you faced during your stay. Immediately upon your departure, I sent a Maintenance Team Member to the room in which you stayed to try to resolve the odor issue, as well as the loud bathroom exhaust fan and the bed frame. While I understand this does not help improve the results of your stay, your notification to us of the issue has allowed us to improve the next guest's stay. The layout of our rooms are dormitory style and we have not yet been renovated from the original design meant for single soldier training accommodations. We are projected to be renovated and updated in the near future so our facility can meet the expectations of a typical hotel that guests are accustomed to. I hope that once renovations are completed here, you will return for another visit with us. I will relay your housekeeping concerns to our Housekeeping Team so that the services each of them provide will be more uniform from one staff member to the next and more intuitive to the important details that our guests expect. I am pleased to know that, through your concerns, our staff consistently provided a positive customer service experience for you and I will pass this compliment along to them. We strive to make each stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible, and we appreciate that you brought your experience to our attention. We take feedback seriously and will coach our team to make the necessary changes so we can provide a better experience in the future. I hope you will give us a chance by staying with us again to show you that your unsatisfactory stay was an exception. Again, thank you for sharing your comments, and if I can be of assistance to you, please contact me directly at 608-388-2107 ext 7004 Respectfully, Kathy J.
